Chapter 150: Donât Leave Me, Okay?
Selinaâs mind went blank.
Her vision was completely blocked as Loganâs palm covered her eyes, shutting out all light.
Losing her sight made her uneasy, her other senses growing sharper.
When she blinked, her eyelashes brushed against his palm. She could feel a searing heat at the corner of her lipsâa kiss, scorching yet restrained.
But the kiss didnât stop there. It trailed downward, his lips grazing her neck, leaving a tingling warmth in their wake.
Loganâs self-control was slipping. What had started as a gentle, reverent touch quickly grew unrestrained, his burning kisses falling without order.
Selinaâs breathing grew erratic. Before she could completely lose herself, she stumbled back a step.
"Lo-Logan!"
The man slowly opened his eyes, his gaze dark with intensity.
Selina didnât know what to cover. She was barely wrapped in a bath towelâone that hardly covered anything.
Flustered, she did the only thing she could: she reached up and covered Loganâs eyes with both hands, her voice tinged with embarrassment and frustration.
"Youâyou canât just kiss someone without warning! I-I donât even have clothes on!"
Loganâs Adamâs apple bobbed slightly.
Did Mrs. Reid have any idea? The way she pouted, throwing a tantrum, only made her look more enticing.
Even when she was angry, she was like a kitten, her tiny claws scratching but never truly hurting.
Logan suddenly didnât want to let go.
Something flickered in his gaze before he chuckled hoarsely. "Sorry."
It was the second time he had apologized, and Selina swallowed, feeling an inexplicable ache in her chest.
She was the one being kissed, so why did she suddenly feel like she couldnât even bring herself to scold him?
Logan grabbed a fresh set of clothes, closed his eyes, and handed them to her. "Put these on."
He remained a perfect gentleman the entire time, making Selina even more certain that he had only acted on impulse.
Once she was properly dressed, Logan left without another word.
Selina watched his retreating figure, a strange bitterness rising in her throat.
Why did his back look so lonely?
Half an hour later, as she prepared to go downstairs for dinner, she overheard Jack speaking to Miller Butler outside her door.
"Old Mr. Carter came again? After what he did to the boss back then, he still has the nerve to play the sentiment card?"
Miller Butler sighed. "Yeah, and I think it reminded Mr. Reid of his past. I just saw him looking really down... Sigh."
Selina cracked the door open slightly, listening intently.
Jack subtly glanced in her direction, then spoke in a strangely monotone voice:
"After all, Carter Family nearly cost him his life. Back then, no one loved Mr. Reid. He had neither family nor love, which is why he treasures Mrs. Reid so much now. But it seems he upset her earlier."
Selinaâs heart clenched.
She had known Loganâs past wasnât easy, but hearing Jack spell it out like this made her realizeâshe had underestimated just how bad it was.
Logan hadnât just struggled.
He had barely survived.
So he had been starved of love growing up... Was that why he had lost control earlier? Was he just reminded of his past pain and seeking comfort?
And she... she had blamed him for it?
She was awful!
Selina immediately pushed open the door. "Where is Logan?"
Jackâs gaze darted away. "Heâs in the attic. When heâs feeling down, he likes to shut himself in there."
Without hesitation, Selina turned to head upstairs.
Jack finally panicked. "Mrs. Reidâ!"
Selina paused. "What is it?"
Jackâs face turned red as he wrestled with his conscience before finally blurting out:
"Mrs. Reid... thereâs no one who can threaten Mr. Reid anymore."
But to Selina, the words carried an entirely different meaning.
ââLogan must have suffered so much under Carter Family and Ameliaâs oppression before finally gaining the power to stand untouchable.
Selinaâs heart ached even more.
Jack: "..."
Forget it. He had already warned her.
Selina climbed up to the attic, spotting a figure sitting quietly in the corner.
The lighting was dimâLogan hadnât turned on the lights. He looked nothing like the powerful, commanding man he usually was. This was the first time she had ever seen him in such a desolate state.
She approached him cautiously.
Logan lifted his gaze slightly, a flicker of light passing through his eyes before he looked down again. "Looks like Miller Butler and Jack have been speaking too much."
Selinaâs heart ached at the sight of him. "Logan, what do you mean âtoo muchâ? So you werenât planning to tell me at all, were you? What did Old Mr.
Carter use to threaten you?"
Her fists clenched in frustration.
Carter Family was truly rotten to the core.
Her motherâs designs had been stolen by Carter Family.
Her motherâs inheritance was bound to Carter Family.
And now, even Logan was being threatened by them?
Logan curved his lips slightly. "Thomas didnât threaten me. He just reminded me of things Iâd rather forget."
Then, out of nowhere, he pulled her into his arms. "Do you know why Amelia adopted Owen?"
Selina shook her head.
Loganâs voice was low. "Because when I was a child, I was switched at birthâOwen and I had our identities swapped."
Selina immediately understood. Her eyes burned with fury. "So Owen wasnât adopted at allâsomeone deliberately switched the two of you, letting him steal your life and pose as the rightful heir?"
Loganâs lips curled in disdain. "Mm."
No wonder Owen was so arrogant. No wonder Amelia targeted Logan at every turn.
To Amelia, Logan was the outsider.
But how was this his fault? He had been switched at birth, endured endless suffering, and when he finally returned to his real family, he found the thief who had stolen his life being doted on.
Even worse, his own mother didnât even want him back.
Selina clenched her jaw. "I regret it now. I only slapped Owen once last time. One slap isnât enough! The next time I see him..."
"Mrs. Reid."
Logan suddenly pulled her into a gentle embrace.
He let out a soft sigh, suddenly regretting bringing this up.
He had only wanted to warn her about Carter Familyâs true nature.
He hadnât expected Selina to get this upset on his behalf. That wasnât what he wanted.

Selina, however, only got angrier. "You might not care, but I do! Why the hell should they get away with this? Owen stole your identity, yet Amelia had the audacity to claim you stole it from him? That position was yours to begin with!"
Loganâs lips brushed against her ear as he whispered, "Because they donât matter to me. And if theyâre insignificant, why waste my energy being angry?"
"Mrs. Reid, in my heart, youâre the most important. One by one, Iâve lost all the people I once called family. Donât leave me too... okay?"
Selinaâs heart clenched so tightly it hurt.
A deep, unexplainable ache filled her chest.
At that moment, all logic shattered.
She looked into Loganâs warm, earnest eyes, and before she even realized it, she nodded. "Okay."
The next second, his kisses rained down upon her, urgent and relentless.
Right before she lost herself completely, a thought suddenly crossed her mindâ
Didnât I just tell Gordon Uncle...
[Donât worry, Uncle Gordon, I have the upper hand in this marriage! I wonât be swayed by a handsome face!]
...
Selina squeezed her eyes shut in guilty silence.
