Chapter 184: Selina Chooses to Leave Selina resisted hearing the answer to her own question. Before Logan could respond, she pushed him away and bolted for the door.
Logan frowned slightly and pulled her back into his arms, locking her in place. "Mrs. Reid, I havenât even answered yet. Why are you running?"
Selina felt her frustration mounting. "I donât want to hear it."
Logan gently traced the back of her neck with his fingers. "If she never makes a second request, Iâll simply compensate her financially. Privately, I wonât have any further contact with her. Would that be acceptable?"
"And if I say no? If I refuse to let you ârepay your debt,â am I just being unreasonable? But I canât stand her, Logan. If youâre going to stay entangled with her, then donât stay with me!"
Selina immediately regretted her outburst, feeling as though sheâd let her emotions get the best of her. She took a deep breath, trying to regain composure. "Just handle your debt to her first. Once thatâs settled, then weâll talk."
Logan, watching the stubborn defiance on her face, suddenly leaned down and bit her lip.
"Mmâ!" Selina yelped, caught off guard. Did he just bite her?!
His clean, crisp scent filled her senses, making her feel weak all over.
A sharp taste of iron spread on her lips, and without thinking, she retaliated. Rising onto her tiptoes, she hooked an arm around his neck and bit down hard on his lower lip.
She used all her strength, drawing blood as the metallic taste lingered between them.
Loganâs Adamâs apple bobbed slightly.
Did Mrs. Reid even realize how easily her actions could be misunderstood?
Tilting her head up, pressing her body close, offering him a kissâit was as if she were willingly surrendering herself to him.
Loganâs breath deepened. "Mrs. Reidâ"
"Looks like I came at a bad time."
A male voice abruptly shattered the tension.
Selina, still dazed, snapped back to reality. She shoved Logan away in a panic, her cheeks burning with guilt, as if sheâd just been caught red-
handed. "Gavin..."
Gavin leaned lazily against the wall, smirking as he studied Logan. "Mr. Reid, you seem to be in quite the good mood. The headlines are blowing up outside, and yet here you are, busy sweet-talking Selina."
Loganâs voice turned colder. "The headlines are nothing but baseless rumors."
Gavin scoffed. "Baseless or not, thereâs still smoke. That woman practically strutted out of your office looking like sheâd just rolled in bed with you.
People say a slap doesnât make a sound unless both hands are involved. If Mr. Reid is caught in a scandal, shouldnât you at least reflect on why?"
Logan immediately sensed the hostility in Gavinâs tone. His brows furrowed slightly. "I didnât expect Angelica to pull such a stunt."
Gavin didnât bother arguing with him. Instead, he turned to Selina. "You packed everything?"
Logan stepped forward. "Hill, where exactly are you planning to take my wife?"
"Home, of course. Sheâs staying with me for a few days."
Loganâs throat tightened. "This is her home too."
Gavin chuckled. "Sure, but Selina is still young. She needs someone to look after her. I wouldnât feel comfortable leaving her alone in Sapphire Valley Villa."
Logan exhaled slowly, trying to suppress his frustration. "I can take care of her."
Gavin feigned a look of regret. "That wonât do. Mr. Reid, youâre a busy man. Youâve got a âlife-saving benefactorâ waiting for you to return the favor.
How could you possibly have time to take care of Selina?"
Logan could tell Gavin was intentionally provoking him, but his eyes remained fixed on Selina.
Gavin smirked. "Selina, your choiceâare you staying here, or coming home with me?"
Selina didnât even hesitate. "Iâm going with Gavin."
Loganâs fingers tensed, his possessiveness threatening to surface. He forced himself to stay calm. "Iâll come pick you up tomorrow."
"Mr. Reid, why the rush?" Gavin said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Sheâs just visiting family. She can stay as long as she likes. You wouldnât be upset, would you?"
He clicked his tongue and added mockingly, "Youâve got your dear Angelica, and Selina isnât complaining. So surely, you wouldnât mind her having a few close male friends, right? After all, we grew up togetherâweâre practically inseparable."
Selina: "..."
Logan gave her a deep, lingering look. After a long pause, he suddenly leaned in and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "Alright, when youâre ready to come home, Iâll come pick you up."
Gavin let out a loud, exaggerated tsk. "Ugh, God."
Selina lifted her beautiful eyes. Loganâs expression was calm, but the tight strain on the veins of his forearm told her he was holding back, compromising.
But she really did need a few days to cool down. Without looking back, she turned and walked out. "Mm, letâs go."
Logan stood there watching until her figure disappeared. Only then did the warmth in his gaze fade.
Jack reported in a low voice, "The trending topics have been handled, but Angelica is an A-list celebrity. The impact of this hot search wonât die down so quickly."
Loganâs voice turned cold. "Handle it. Track down anyone in the company spreading rumors or leaking photosâfire them."
Jack nodded. "Understood."
Logan slowly closed his eyes.
His memories from four years ago were fragmented. He couldnât remember how he had been ambushed or how he had been saved.
But he did remember the girl who had shielded him, taking a knife meant for him. She had been covered in blood, yet she had still tried to comfort him. "Donât be afraid, Iâm fine. I scared the bad guys away."
He had whispered a hoarse "Iâm sorry," but the gentle girl had only said, "Itâs not your fault. If you really feel bad, just help me find a doctor, okay?"
At the time, he had nothing to give her as a token of gratitude, so he had left her with a button from his shirt.
The missing pieces of his memory had cost him the chance to find that girl. He had forgotten her face, but he remembered the carefree days they had spent together. They had made a promiseâthe rose in the window would be their secret signal.
But all of that collapsed the moment he saw Angelica.
The once pure-hearted girl from four years ago had become a woman filled with calculation and deceit.
When she appeared before him, clutching the same button from his shirt, Logan found himself unable to reconcile her with the girl in his memories.
Even if the feelings werenât as pure as before, he still had to honor his promise to repay her.
...
Hill Family Villa.
Selina wasnât in high spirits. She barely touched her dinner.
Gavinâs phone buzzed. He scoffed, amused. "Wow, youâve only been gone two hours, and Loganâs already calling."
Selinaâs eyes flickered with interest, but she quickly turned her head away. "I donât want to answer."
"Then donât." Gavin hung up without hesitation. "Now tell me, whatâs going on with him and Angelica?"
Selina hesitated before replying, "He said... Angelica saved him four years ago."
"Four years ago?!"
Gavinâs eyes narrowed sharply. "Angelica? Saving someone? Thatâs the biggest joke Iâve ever heard. She saved Logan? Where? How? Was he seriously injured?"
Selina shook her head. "I donât know."
Gavinâs expression grew serious.
If Logan really had been saved by Angelica four years ago, then the man Selina had encountered back then couldnât have been him.
That would mean Logan had no connection to that incident...
That was a good thing.

Although Angelicaâs scandal had been removed from the trending lists, Gavin had sources in the entertainment industry. He had just learned that the entire entertainment circle was now treating Angelica as Mrs. Reid. She was receiving countless benefits from it.
Gavin immediately felt indignant. His eyes gleamed with mischief.
"My foolish little sister, even Angelica knows how to flaunt Loganâs name and make a show of it. But you, the real Mrs. Reid, have never once used your title to your advantage. What a waste!"
