Chapter 213: Sharing a Room Luke waved the crowd away.
Logan watched Selina and Jacobâs retreating figures, eyes lowered, lost in thought.
Angelica noticed and batted her lashes, speaking in a sweet tone, "Selina shouldnât have acted like that... Logan, let me apologize on her behalf."
"Sheâs always been like this since she was littleâsuper popular with boys. Not just Mr. Carter, almost every guy likes her. Itâs not that she does it on purpose... she just doesnât understand where to draw the line, so itâs easy for her to send the wrong signals."
Angelica sighed dramatically. "You two are husband and wife, and she still left with Mr. Carter in front of everyone. Itâs our fault for not teaching her better. Logan, please donât be mad at her."
Luke almost burst out laughing.
fгeeí¤ebɳoveÉ.cøm Seriously? The green tea energy here is off the charts.
Wasnât that just saying Selina flirts around and lacks morals? And coming from a woman whoâs clinging to someone elseâs husband? Please.
Logan suddenly turned to Angelica, his eyes devoid of warmth, the chill in them making her heart skip.
His voice was calm, but carried enough force to crush:
"Miss Clark, for the sake of our agreementâyour second conditionâIâll pretend I didnât hear that. I expect there wonât be a next time."
Angelicaâs throat tightened. She could hardly believe it.
Even now, Logan was defending Selina?
Why? What did Selina do to deserve that?
Angelica forced a generous smile. "Itâs my fault. Logan, let me walk you baâ"
"Sir, weâve investigated. Someone tampered with Madamâs skis."
Jack completely ignored Angelica and reported calmly, "There was a shaved-down section on the bottom of the ski, making the surface uneven and causing her to lose balance and veer left."
Lukeâs face darkened. "Someone messed with her gear at my ski resort? Iâm on it right now."
Who the hell had the nerve to go after Selina under his brotherâs watch?
Logan glanced once more at Angelicaâcalm, unreadableâand walked away without another word. "Find out who did it."
...
Back in the room, Selina flopped down onto the bed.
It was just a skiing trip, but she felt completely drained. Her mind was a mess.
Sheâd clearly heard the thud of Loganâs body hitting a rock earlier, followed by his low grunt of pain. That couldnât have just been an arm injury, right?
Her throat tightened. She couldnât lie to herselfâshe was worried about Logan.
But with Angelica by his side, what right did she have to worry?
The more she thought about it, the more frustrated she became. She pulled the blanket over her head and forced herself to sleep.
Surprisingly, she actually dozed off.
When she woke again, the sky outside was dark. A single night lamp lit the room. She rubbed her eyes and was about to sit upâwhen she saw a figure by the bed.
"Youâre awake?"
That low, familiar voice made Selina instantly alert.
"Logan?! What are you doing in my room?"
Logan raised a brow, his tone casual as he met her startled gaze. "Weâre married. Itâs our roomâweâre supposed to sleep in the same one."
Right. Selina suddenly rememberedâLuke had only arranged one room for the two of them.
But stillâwhat was with this guy? Heâd been all cozy with Angelica during the day, and now at night he suddenly remembered they were married?
Frustration welled up. "If you want to sleep in someone elseâs room, Iâm sure Angelica would love the company."
Logan let out a low chuckle. "Is Mrs. Reid jealous?"
"No!" Selina felt like she was about to explode. She grabbed a pillow and threw it at him. "You spent the whole day with her, now youâre back here messing with me. Donât act like you donât knowâ"
"Selina," Logan interrupted, his voice steady, "I made a promise to Angelica. Two conditions."
Selina was fuming. "So what? Are you trying to say that just because sheâs your âsavior,â you should treat her well?"
Loganâs smile deepened as he stepped closer and gently wrapped the bristling little hedgehog into his arms. "It was Angelicaâs second request. Once itâs done, she and I will have nothing more to do with each other."
Selina froze. "Her second request... was to have you take her on a trip to go skiing?"
Logan nodded. "Yes."
Selina found that a little strange. The two favors Logan owed were incredibly valuableâmost people couldnât even dream of getting one. Angelica obviously couldâve asked for something much bigger. Why settle for something so simple?
Just a trip together, and that was enough to repay the debt of saving his life?
Her first request had been for him to invest a 10 billion into Clark Group. And the second... was just this trip?
"So, I didnât take her willingly. And after this, weâll have no further connection." Logan patted her back gently. "So, Mrs. Reid... are you still angry now?"
Selina blinked, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Waitâif that was true, then... had she just been overreacting?
Logan had gone with Angelica out of duty, to keep a promiseânot because he wanted to. And sheâd been sulking all day, completely ignoring the fact that heâd risked and injured himself saving her.
"Itâs late. Letâs eat first. We can talk about everything else later, okay?"
Logan interrupted her train of thought and had dinner brought in.
Selina felt like her brain had gone on vacationâwhatever he said, she just went along with. "Okay... sure."
After dinner, just as she was about to speak, she suddenly felt a sticky discomfort all over. Thatâs when she realizedâshe hadnât showered since getting back.
She turned toward the full-length mirror... and her eyes widened in horror.
Her hair was a tangled, wet mess, her clothes wrinkled and filthy, and the bed that had once looked pristine now resembled a battlefield.
...What kind of impression was she giving Logan right now?
Logan, calm as ever, spoke up, "Iâve already prepared everythingâbath supplies and fresh clothes. Go shower first. Weâll talk after."
Selina blushed and hurried into the bathroom.
But the moment she stepped inside, she realized another problem.
Luke, in his infinite mischief, had designed the bathroom with fully transparent walls!
With just one glance back, Logan would be able to see everythingâevery single move she made, undressed and in the shower.
Selinaâs cheeks burned. Should she undress? Should she not? Either way, it felt like a trap.
Loganâs gaze flicked briefly toward the bathroom and instantly picked up on her dilemma.
He knocked lightly on the glass door, voice gentlemanly and measured: "Iâm heading out to the courtyard. Mrs. Reid, donât worryâI wonât come in without your permission."
Selina saw that he really did leave and even closed the door behind him. For a moment, she didnât know what to feel.
Thinking of him standing outside in the cold night air, she rushed through her shower and quickly dressed. Then she opened the door and called out, "Iâm done. You can come in now."
The manâs gaze flicked over herâand his pupils shrank. His Adamâs apple bobbed slightly. "Itâs windy out here. You should stay inside."
Before she could respond, he took off his shirt.
Selinaâs eyes widened as a large bruise bloomed across his chest.
Her breath hitched. He really was hurtâand badly.
And yet he hadnât said a single word about it. Heâd shouldered it silently, not wanting her to feel guilty.
Selinaâs expression shiftedâconflict and guilt warred with tenderness in her gaze. "Logan... do you want me to get some ointment for that? Iâah!"
