Chapter 271: Itâs All Loganâs Fault Downstairs.
Logan looked at the carefully written message in his inbox and couldnât help but smile.
His little wife really was too sweetâshe even remembered to thank Rowan.
Too bad Rowan wasnât exactly the nicest guy.
Loganâs fingers danced across the keyboard as he sent another message:
[Howâs the wedding dress coming along? Are you designing it yourself, or should I?]
Upstairs.
Selina stared blankly at the message.
Rowan was asking to design her wedding dress too? First the rings, now the dress?
What kind of miracle was she living?
But heâd already done so much... She didnât want to push it.
[Rowan, you really donât need to go to all that trouble...]
Rowan replied almost instantly:
[You called me your teacher, so of course I want to help. I havenât done any design work in a whileâitâd be a personal wish fulfilled.]
Selinaâs fingers trembled as she typed back, dazed and overwhelmed:
[Alright... then thank you, teacher. Iâll leave it to you.]
Thank you, huh?
Loganâs eyes narrowed with amusement.
He typed again:
[No need to be so formal. Weâre peersâyou donât have to call me âteacher.â I didnât teach you much anyway. If youâre okay with it, you can call me âsenior.â]
Selinaâs brain short-circuited. Peers? Wasnât Rowan in his forties? She was only in her twenties! How were they peers?
Wait a second... sudden realization.
So that was it. Rowan must be sensitive about his age. He didnât want to be seen as old, hence no "teacher" title. He wanted to come off youngâlike a man in his twenties.
Fine. She could play along. Everyone had their quirks.
[Got it, Senior Rowan.]
Logan was very pleased.
He casually kept typing.
A moment later, Selina received another messageâand froze.
[So, whenâs the wedding? Spring sounds nice. Have you picked a venue yet?]
Selina: "..."
Wait. Wait a minute. Wasnât that moving a little too fast?
She was just trying to say thank youâhow did this turn into wedding planning?
She cautiously replied:
[Rowan, I think you misunderstood. I donât have any plans for a wedding just yet.]
Loganâs face darkened.
[I see. After all that talk of wedding rings and dresses, and now thereâs no wedding?]
Selina: "???"
Was it just her, or did that message sound... passive-aggressive?
Before she could reply, she heard the butler call her downstairs for a late-night snack.
She shut her laptop and switched to her phone to keep emailing Rowan.
Downstairs, Logan clicked his tongue. Whyâd she stop replying?
Suddenly, on impulse, he typed out:
[What do you think of your husband?]
Selina nearly tripped and fell down the stairs.
What kind of middle-aged man was this? Why was he so nosy?
Rowan was supposed to be all mysterious and aloofâsince when did he gossip about her love life?
She was about to send back a neutral "Heâs fine," when she heard Jack reporting to Logan downstairs:
"Sir, about the deal with Mr. Nelsonâheâs offering to give up 2% of the profits in exchange for you forgiving Miss Nelsonâs behavior. Should we accept?"
Logan put his phone down and said lazily, "Why wouldnât I take free benefits? Of course we accept."
After all, he never gave Riley the time of day.
Selinaâs blood pressure spiked.
Riley again?! That woman just wouldnât quit. Nelson Family was willing to lose 2% just to smooth things over for her? No wonder she had the nerve to go toe-to-toe with Selina.
Then her eyes landed back on Rowanâs message.
"What do you think of your husband?"
Oh, sheâd tell him exactly what she thought.
Selina was furious. She slammed her fingers against the screen, typing furiously:
[Flirty and shameless! He doesnât know how to act like a decent husband! Itâs just a marriage of convenienceâwhatever he does is none of my business!]
Loganâs phone pinged twice. He glanced at the email, and the moment he read it, he shot to his feetâ
the teacup in his hand slammed onto the table with a sharp clack.
Startled by the loud sound, Selina looked up, still fuming. "What are you doing?"
Logan: "..."
He was flirty? Shameless?
Logan inhaled slowly, then typed out a calm reply under Rowanâs identity:
[Is that so...? But I donât think Logan is that kind of man.]
Selina froze like sheâd just been struck by lightning.
Shit.
How could she forget Rowan and Logan were friends?!
Thinking fast, she switched to pitiful mode and typed:
[Senior Rowan, you can never truly know someone. I married into a powerful family, all alone with no one to trust. Iâm struggling in this predatory world of wealth, feeling helpless and fragile...]
Logan nearly crushed the teacup in his hand.
Helpless and fragile? Selina?
They were sitting at the dining table. Selina stole a glance at him and frowned.
What the hell was wrong with this guy tonight? Restless much?
Still annoyed, she kept typing:
[Today, his childhood friend asked me out. I thought she just wanted to congratulate me on getting married... but insteadâ]
Sheâd only meant to explain the whole "shameless" comment, but the more she typed, the angrier she got. The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt.
Yes!
It was Loganâs fault.
Her fingers hammered her phone screen so hard it echoed.
[She brought a so-called "top designer" named Mateo to humiliate me! A plagiarist! She said I only deserved someone like Mateoâthat I wasnât worthy of better. That I should accept my place and stop trying to force my way into high society.]
Loganâs expression darkened with every word he read.
[Then when I got home, I wanted to tell himâbut I heard him on the phone with her brother. And I thought...]
Selina hesitated.
Wait a second.
Why was she pouring her heart out to someone who was basically a stranger?
She forced herself to pause, realizing something wasnât right.
But Rowanâor rather, Loganâdidnât give her that chance.
Under the calm yet cold identity of Rowan, he replied:
[And then? What were you thinking?]
Selina blinked. She didnât even notice the butler placing a steak in front of her.
[I guess... I really am the outsider. Logan has so many friendsâpeople I donât even know. If they donât accept me, maybe thatâs normal.]
She felt oddly better after typing that.
Maybe she had just been feeling a little overwhelmed.
Riley had been deliberately picking at her, and Logan had casually agreed to forgive her in exchange for a 2% profit margin.

That was a win. That 2% would earn millions annually in dividends.
Logan stared at her reply. His jaw clenched, and his eyes darkened inch by inch.
He didnât finish his steak. Instead, he stood abruptly.
"Get dressed. Youâre coming with me."
Selina: "???"
What the hell? Itâs the middle of the night and he looks like heâs about to go punch someone. What is wrong with this man?
Just then, another message came in from Rowan:
[Alright. I understand now.]
Selina: "..."
Understand what, exactly?
What the hell was going on tonight?
Why were both these men acting so weird?
