Chapter 275: Luke Says What Weâre All Thinking The manager set down the rings with clear impatience and didnât bother hiding her annoyance. "The rings are here. Take them and leave. Weâve got important guests coming soonâI donât have time to deal with you."
Luke picked up the womenâs ring and clicked his tongue. "Wow, Selina, you and Logan really donât have great taste. Donât worry, Iâll get you something betterâway better than this..."
"Are you sure this is the ring I ordered?" Selina suddenly asked.
Luke immediately shut his mouth, confused.
Waitâwhat? This isnât Selinaâs ring?
Selinaâs expression turned cold as she repeated, "I ordered two custom wedding bands from your store. Are you sure this is one of them?"
The manager was clearly fed up. "How am I supposed to know? We made the rings based on the design you gave us. Now youâre backing out?"
People nearby began to look over. The manager, already irritated, grew even more short-tempered.
"You shouldâve made your requests clear when you submitted the design. We put a lot of effort into this, and now you say you donât like it? We have plenty of other clients. I donât have time for your drama."
A few wealthy women nearby nodded in agreement. Custom pieces were personal and nonrefundable. If you had specific requirements, you were supposed to clarify everything up front. Once the rings were made, it wasnât fair to demand changes or a refund.
The manager saw public opinion swinging in her favor and looked more and more smug. "Alright, take the rings and get out. Iâve got VIPs coming and no time to waste on you."
Soon, Ms. Clark would be arriving. Serving her well meant earning the favor of the Morris Family. The manager had no interest in wasting effort on someone like Selina and risking something bigger.
Selina smiled coldly. "This jewelry store belongs to the Reid Group, doesnât it?"
The manager rolled her eyes. "What is it now? Are you done yet?"
Even Luke could tell something was off. His usual cocky young-master vibe kicked in. "Excuse me? Thatâs how you treat your customers? Do you even know who I amâ"
"Miss Angelica! Mrs. Clark! Welcome, welcome! What an honor!"
Before Luke could finish his sentence, the managerâs face lit up, her sneer instantly replaced by an eager grin. She rushed over with exaggerated enthusiasm. "Miss Angelica, please come in! Your rings are ready. Iâll have someone bring them right out."
Selina turned around and saw Angelica walking in arm-in-arm with Katie, surrounded like royalty.
Two stunningly crafted rings were carefully presented to Angelica on a velvet tray.
Selinaâs expression instantly darkened.
These were Rowanâs designs. The wedding bands he had created just for her and Logan. Now they were being treated like a precious giftâfor Angelica.
Angelica looked at the rings, and a flash of greed flickered in her eyes.
She put on her usual elegant smile. "Selina, what a surprise! Are you here for a wedding ring, too?"
Selina narrowed her eyes.
Katieâs voice rang out, sharp and smug. After the humiliation Selina had put her through last time, she was ready for payback.
"Let me see the ring you picked, Selina. Oh, not very impressive. Angelicaâs taste is better. She gave me this exquisite setâso rare, so perfect. Even though Angelica isnât my biological daughter, her thoughtfulness touches me. Iâm more than satisfied."
Katie, of course, knew full well the rings had been made for Selina.
But so what?
With Angelicaâs current status, if she wanted a pair of rings, Selina would have to hand them over without a wordâlike a good little girl.
Selina looked at them and suddenly let out a soft laugh. "Your diamond ring?" she repeated, voice light but biting. "Wow. I didnât know someone could be this shameless. Learned something new today."
Angelica put on her usual good-girl act and sighed with fake patience. "Selina, thereâs no need to be sarcastic. I already heard what happened earlier.
You werenât happy with the rings the jeweler gave youâI get it. But that doesnât mean you can cause a scene."
"These two rings? I had them custom-made for me and my mother. Just because you see something doesnât mean itâs yours to take."
Katie chimed in with a fake-pained expression. "Thatâs right, Selina. If you really like them, I donât mind giving them to you. But Angelica had them made for me to thank me for raising her. Trying to snatch them like thisâit really hurts."
Luke couldnât take it anymore.
Was this real? These women seriously needed awards for their acting. He was about to explode when Selina beat him to it.
Selina looked at Katie with a slow, knowing smile. "Mrs. Bryant, have you tried the ring on yet? Does it even fit?"
Katieâs hand froze mid-air, and her face darkened instantly.
Damn it. Her fingers were too thick. The ring didnât even go on all the way!
Selina calmly took Katieâs wrist, easily slid the ring off, and examined it. Then she looked at Angelica. "Angelica, yours seems a bit tight too, doesnât it? Thatâs odd..."
She slipped the ring onto her own fingerâeffortless, a perfect fit.
She slowly finished her sentence, voice casual and cold.
"You two supposedly had these rings made just for yourselves, and yet neither one fits... but they fit me perfectly?"
...
...
No one present was dumb.
Angelica had just claimed the rings were custom-made for her and her mother, but they didnât even fit them. Yet they fit Selina exactly?
No luxury jeweler would mess up the clientâs ring sizeânot at this level.
The only possible explanation was that the rings belonged to Selina.
Which meant Angelica had stolen themâand now was putting on a show, pretending Selina was the thief.
Lukeâs voice boomed across the room. "What was it you said earlier, Ms. Clark? That you had the rings made to thank Katie for raising you?"
"Wow. You stole your sisterâs wedding rings to ârepayâ your stepmom? How do you even come up with that logic? Am I just too decent to follow your twisted reasoning?"
Everyone froze.
Lukeâs words were harsh, but... hard to argue with.
Stealing someoneâs wedding bands and playing the victim? That was next-level shameless. No normal person would do that.
Katie was so angry she almost fainted. "Youâyou..."
Angelica clenched her fists.
She was furious.
Back then, she had to swallow her pride for the sake of reputation. But now she was Morris Familyâs heiress. Who dared talk behind her back?
She wanted those rings. Selina would give them upâwhether she liked it or not.
Angelica waved her hand and ordered the manager to clear the room. Once the guests were gone, she put on her rich-girl face and looked down her nose.
"Selina, Iâm not trying to take your rings. But what can I do? My mother loves them. Why donât you just give them to her?"
Luke looked like heâd just seen a ghost. "Selina. Did you hear what she just said?"
"I heard."
"Youâre not... shocked?"
Selina looked unbothered. "I believe in respecting biodiversity."
Luke: "..."
Right. Because Angelica clearly wasnât human.
Their conversation landed like a slap on Angelicaâs face. Her expression turned cold. "Selina, you do know who I am now, donât you? Are you really sure you want to go against me?"
