Matt proceeded to ask, âYvie, I heard from Gabriel that youâre seeing someone.â
Yvette replied almost immediately, âNo, Iâm not.â
Matt let out a sigh of relief. He beamed and said, âI knew it! Of course you wouldnât date anyone.
That Gabriel was babbling nonsense again. Well, Yvie, I have a son around your age-
Yvette interrupted and said, âHeâs not my boyfriend. Heâs my fiancé.â
âWhat?â asked Matt, wideâeyed in disbelief. âFiancé? Are you engaged? Since when? Why didnât you mention it before?â
Yvette calmly nodded and said, âYeah, I found out recently, too.â
After Matt recovered from the shock, he felt extremely upset. He initially intended to matchmake Yvette and his son.
Matt continued, âYvie, I heard from Gabriel that your fiancé is older than you are. You should be careful. Youâre still young, so you mustnât marry an old man!â
Yvette smirked at this. âMr. Russell, why donât you tell him in person?â
âSure!â Matt agreed without hesitance. âWhen Iâm back from my business trip, Iâll meet him myself!â
Matt wanted to see for himself what brazen fool snatched his intended daughterâinâlaw away from him. Yvette smiled cheekily. She hoped Matt would be able to bravely say the same thing after meeting Wilson face to face.
âBy the way, Yvie, Iâve something to talk to you about,â Matt said, suddenly flashing a humble smile.
The annual medical competition between Jubilife University and Vista University is about to begin-â
Before Matt could finish, Yvette answered without hesitance, âI refuse.â
âBut Yvie, Iâve already signed you upâ¦â
Matt knew Yvette would never agree to participate. As such, he signed her up before she could event reject him. Yvette felt baffled by this.
âI beg you, Yvie. Weâve repeatedly lost to Vista University in the past few years. The chancellor of Vista University always makes fun of me! Iâll need your help to shame them this time.â
Matt put on his best puppy eyes and said pitifully over the video call.
âYvie, just help me this once. If you donât participate, weâre going to lose again. You canât possibly wish for the chancellor of Vista University to laugh at me again, right?â
Yvette had no choice but to agree. âJust this once.â
âOkay, okay!â Matt said, beaming. âI promise there wonât be a next time!â
Matt was delighted. He believed Jubilife University would definitely win this yearâs medical competition with Yvetteâs participation. It was finally Mattâs turn to show off to the chancellor of Vista University.
