Yvette was at a loss for words.
It wasnât her fault. Charlieâs classes were always scheduled for the first two periods in the morning.
In the end, Yvette placated Charlie by giving him a rare, limitedâedition anatomy book, which made him happily resume his lecture.
After class, Yvette stepped out and found Liam waiting for her again.
This time, her classmates didnât squeal at the sight of them. Instead, their conversation was tinged with regret.
âTsk, poor Liam! He comes to Jubilife University daily, but it seems Yvie isnât interested.â
âIâm still rooting for them! Liam is the heartthrob of Vista University,, and Yvie is the campus belle of Jubilife University. Both are medical prodigies. If they got together, theyâd be unstoppable in the medical fieldâ¦â
Had Yvette overheard, she would have pointed out that she was already a significant force in the medical field and didnât need a partner to enhance her standing.
âAlright, Iâve taught you everything you need to know. The rest is up to you to practice.â
Yvette planned to leave straight after her tutoring session with Liam to avoid further misunderstandings, but he stopped her.
âWait⦠Thereâs something I need to tell youâ¦â
Yvette paused and looked at him lazily. âGo ahead.â
Liam frowned. His voice edged with Jension. âWhatâs your relationship with Wilson Quinn?â
Yvetteâs eyes narrowed with impatience. âThatâs a private matter, and Itâs none of your concern.â
âI didnât mean to pry,â Liam rushed to clarify. âBut Wilson Quinn is dangerous and intimidating. Heâs not a good personâ¦â
Before he could continue, Yvette cut him off with a cool, disinterested tone. âIâm aware.â
âYou are?â Liam looked at her in shock and confusion.
âYes,â Yvette nodded slightly, barely lifting her gaze. Her tone was nonchalant. âI actually appreciate that heâs not a good person because Iâm not exactly a saint myself.â
âYou should practice on your own.â Yvette ignored Liamâs stunned expression and strode out of the lab.
However, as soon as she stepped outside, her path was blocked.
âYouâre the shameless woman clinging to Liam, arenât you?â
Serena Sutton, adorned in glittering jewels, aggressively obstructed Yvetteâs way, her face a mask of blatant jealousy.
Liam was distant and aloof by nature. Despite Serenaâs attempts to get close, she had never exchanged a single word with him or even caught his attention.
Yet now, Liam was coming to Jubilife University daily for Yvette and even bringing her breakfast!
Serenaâs fury was palpable.
Yvetteâs eyes flashed with impatience. âMove aside.â
âI wonât!â Serena stubbornly blocked her path, speaking fiercely, âIâm warning you to stay away from Liam. Heâs the man Iâve set my sights on!
âNo one wants to compete with you for him.â
Yvetteâs face remained composed, but an icy coldness radiated from her, sending a shiver down Serenaâs spine.
Feeling the weight of Yvetteâs intense air, Serenaâs legs wobbled momentarily. Mortified by her own reaction, her expression darkened. How could she be intimidated by a mere country bumpkin?
âStop pretending. If you didnât want to compete with me, why are you seducing Liam? Making him travel from Vista University to Jubilife University daily and bringing you breakfast. Donât pretend youâre not trying to steal him from me.â
âHaving a brain is a good thing. Itâs a shame you donât seem to possess one.â
Wary of Serenaâs behavior, Yvette directly sidestepped her and walked away.
âWho are you calling brainless?â Serena, enraged, pursued her relentlessly. âDo you know who I am? Iâm the eldest daughter of the Sutton family. Cross me, and Iâll make sure your life becomes unbearable!â
