Chapter 16: Chapter 16- Surprise

When They Came [Editing On Hiatus]Words: 9264

On Monday morning, I woke up to receive a shock of my life.

As I had seated myself on my chair for breakfast, I noticed that all four of the boys were sharing looks with each other.

Max was excitingly looking at all of us while Liam was asking him to slow down with his eyes. Zack was as usual, smirking while Damien was smiling that sweet smile of his that immediately made my heart flutter. Something was up with them. And I want to know what.

"Is there something that you guys know and I don't?" I said while glancing at each one of them.

"May I tell her please?" Max impatiently asked Zack who just shrugged.

"Tell me what?" I asked, confused.

The four or them looked at me as Max shouted, -"We all will be going to the same high school from now on! Green ville! With you!" He grinned like an overly excited child.

I just stared at them. We're they serious-

"WHAT?!" I asked looking at Damien who smiled and nodded at me.

"HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! WHEN? WHY? HOW?!"

Okay, I tried to remain calm but I couldn't.

"We transferred to your school, how- that shouldn't be your concern." Zack told me while Max hugged me from behind still grinning from ear to ear.

"Are you serious? Is this a joke-" Max kissed my cheek and said, "As Zack told you before, now that you're with us, you'll never be alone. And we'll make sure that no one bothers you."

I couldn't help but grin in excitement. This would be so good... I guess.

"But-"

"C'mon, Jennifer. No buts. Eat your breakfast quickly because we don't want to be late on our first day."

Max and I were still grinning like idiots while I couldn't help but jump up and down in excitement from time to time.

"C'mon guys, hurry up! I am so excited!" Max and I said at the same time. We both looked at each other and laughed.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, a thought crossed my mind.

"Max" He looked at me. "Are you my long lost twin or something?"

Now everyone stopped eating and stared at us. They stared from me to Max and at me again.

"I don't know, Jen. I feel that sometimes too." Max replied while Zack and Liam were staring at us with open mouths. Even Damien was staring at us in amusement.

"Woah! Why didn't I think of this before? I mean, you both are so similar to each other. Damn!" Zack amused while Liam was deeply inspecting me and Max.

"Even if I am not, I'll still love to call you my sister." Max smiled at me.

"Yes... Brother."

Everyone in school was staring at the five of us as if we were aliens who just came out of their space ship.

I immediately wanted to dissolve in air to escape their piercing gazes but the boys didn't seem to mind it at all, if anything, they relished in all this attention.

Ashley tried to talk to me many times but I just ignored her. Hailey was glaring daggers at me everytime she saw me. People were whispering about me everywhere but I didn't care about them. I knew that I had my boys here with me now.

While walking to history class, I met Liam in the hallway.

"What class is it, Jen?" He asked me as we were walking down the hallway.

"History." I sighed. "What about you?"

Before he could reply, a few girls approached him. He looked amused and didn't seem to mind their flirting at all. "I'll meet you later at lunch, Jen." He said before walking in the opposite direction with them.

I smiled and shook my head and continued walking to my class.

I was quietly sitting on my seat when Noah joined me. "Hey, Jennifer!" He greeted me but I ignored him. He was about to say more but was interuppted when Mr. Peterson walked in and immediately started with the lecture.

"Jennifer, please talk to me."

I had enough of this. What does he want from me?

"What do you want, Noah? Listen, Ashley and I aren't friends anymore so if you-"

"No, Jennifer! I really need to clear something with you-"

Before he could complete, the classroom door flew wide open and in walked Zack with his iconic smirk.

The girls immediately started whispering and admiring him while I just rolled my eyes at their stupidity.

"If I am correct, you are Zack Meyers. The new transfer student, right?" Mr. Peterson asked Zack, looking annoyed.

"Yes, sir." Zack said while his eyes searched the classroom and then he spotted me.

Please don't say anything to me.

Please don't say anything to me.

Please don't say anything to me.

"Hey, Jennifer!" The entire class turned to look at me while I just stared down.

The whisperings started again, this time, about me.

You are a jerk, Zack. Choke on air.

"Mr. Meyers, you are 7 minutes late in my class."

"Sorry sir, I lost my way." He said, not looking sorry at all.

"That's no excuse. You could have asked someone for directions."

"I did. But the girls were more interested to know about if I was single or not."

What the heck?

I don't think them being in the same school as you was a good idea.

I agree with you.

You are me.

No, you are me.

Mr. Peterson led out a very frustrated sigh and told Zack to take a seat.

And this idiot started walking towards me. Why is he coming here?

"You can sit somewhere else. I will be sitting here from now on." He glared at Noah, daring him to deny him but the coward just got up and left.

Zack made himself comforting beside me while the entire class, including Mr. Peterson were staring at us.

Can I just die?

"Is something wrong, Mr. Meyers?" Mr. Peterson asked, already fed up with Zack.

"No, I am good. And I would prefer to be called Zack."

"Alright, now, if I may have your permission, can I continue with my class, Zack?"

"You have my permission."

The whisperings were heard again.

What was this boy?!

Mr. Peterson's face had turned a light shade of red but he chose to ignore Zack.

"Meyers?" I asked Zack when the class's focus was on the history lecture and not on him... Or me.

"A surname Damien and I chose for ourselves, 'cause why not."

"Why didn't you guys tell me about your surnames?"

"How does it matter? What does a surname do? It's just an identity people have."

"What about Max and Liam? What are their surnames?"

"Wilson"

"Woah. Okay."

It was lunch time and we were all sitting in the cafeteria. Everyone was still staring and whispering about us.

Can I just-

How many times will you say that?

I'll stop now.

Yes, please.

"Hey boys! Mind if we sit here?" Hailey asked while her minions followed behind her.

"She's Hailey." I whispered to Max.

I was sitting in between Max and Damien which is why he seemed to have heard me too because he very sternly and coldly declined Hailey's request.

Hailey looked insulted and glared at me while I smirked at her. She muttered something under her breath and left.

The rest of the day went great. It was actually great to have the boys with me. I hadn't felt this great in school in a long time.

Ashley wanted to sit with me in Chemistry class but Damien surprised me as well as her when he sat beside me. Though we didn't talk in class, it was simply amazing to have him beside me.

Liam bored the heck out of me in biology Class while Max managed to keep me smiling through out the entire English class. We both laughed out loud once or twice on his silly jokes or stories which caused the class to turn around and stare at us but Max didn't seem to care while I wanted to-

No.

Okay. Sorry.

***

"What an amazing day!" I exclaimed as I plopped down on the couch.

"You had us, how could it have been boring." Said Liam.

How ironic.

"But seriously guys, you transferred schools for me, it means a lot."

"Anything for my sister." Max said as he sat down beside me.

"Who said I did it for you? I did it 'cause I was bored with the girls of my school. So I just wanted a change." Zack shrugged.

After resting for a bit, the boys went out to sell some of the items of my house along with mom's jewellery.

This cycle repeated for the next two weeks. We would go to school in the morning and the boys would go out to sell the things after returning.

Surprisingly, Hailey hadn't bothered me.

Yet.

"So, how much is it?" Max asked Zack and Liam who had just come out from counting the money.

My car was the last thing to be sold off. Though I didn't have much attachment with my car, it was still painful to see it go. Dad had gifted me that car last year.

Damien was looking the most hopeful of us all.

"6 million." Zack sighed.

"Damn! I didn't know I had things worth of 6 million dollars in my house!"

"We need 4 million more." Liam said.

Max and I looked at each other then at Damien who had an unreadable expression on his face.

"Don't worry guys. We got 6 million dollars, we'll get the rest 4 million too." I assured all of them but it was mainly for Damien.

Damien got up and came towards me and my heart rate increased again. He placed his hands on my cheeks and the butterflies in my stomach suddenly turned into dragons.

He lovingly stared in my eyes and I found myself getting lost in those beautiful emerald like eyes of his.

"Thank you, Jennifer. Really." He smiled and kissed my forehead. The dragons in my stomach suddenly went crazy and my heart was exploding inside my chest.

Jennifer... Breathe... In... Out.... In... Out...

He stared in my blue eyes again and then left while I stood there standing like a statue. The other three were giving amused looks to each other while I kept replaying the last few minutes in my head, again and again.
