Chapter 50: Chapter 50- Goodbye Casper

When They Came [Editing On Hiatus]Words: 13830

I was drowning in my misery, hugging my knees as my tears had dried out, when Casper quickly rushed inside the room.

He was looking really nervous as he approached me.

"Here. Call them quick." he said while handing me a phone.

"Casper? How did you manage to-"

"We don't have time Jennifer. Call them quickly." He interrupted me.

I nodded and tried to remember Max's phone number.

I dialed the number and put the phone to my ear, hoping that it was the right number.

After a few rings, someone picked up.

"Hello? Max?" I asked into the phone.

"Um. Sorry, but who's this?" A lady answered.

"Sorry, wrong number." I hung up and tried again.

The second number was out of service.

"I don't remember Max's number!" I cried.

"Try someone else." Casper kept his hand on my shoulder.

I tried to remember Zack's phone number but couldn't remember the last two digits.

"I can't remember, Casper." I cried, clutching the phone to my chest.

"Jennifer, calm down and try to remember, please." Casper pulled me in a hug, rubbing my back. "I am trying but I can't." I sniffled.

He pulled back and kept his hands on my cheeks. "Look into my eyes, forget about everything else for a moment." he softly said.

I did what he asked me to, I stared into his green eyes which were staring back into mine with a certain intensity.

"Just keep yourself calm. Try to remember someone's number. Anyone who can help you, Jennifer." He wiped my cheeks and slowly started leaning closer to my face.

"I am sorry for this." He whispered before his soft lips touched mine.

I was taken aback by his actions but didn't push him away. It was just a simple kiss, enough to melt my heart and calm me down a bit.

Casper's cheeks were red and he avoided to look into my eyes. "Only you can help yourself now, Jennifer." He said.

I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate on getting the right number.

I started typing away the numbers on the dial pad and crossed my fingers. I put the phone to my ear and closed my eyes.

It was answered after three rings.

"Hello?" Max answered and my eyes fluttered open.

"Max!" I immediately broke down in tears. Hearing his voice made me realise how much I had missed him.

"Jennifer?! Oh my god! Where are you Jennifer? Are you okay?! Tell me, sister please!" He frantically started rambling.

"Get me out of here, Max. Please." I cried as Casper rubbed my arms, trying to comfort me.

"Where are you, Jen!? Please tell me?!" Max cried.

However, before I could reply, the door of the room barged open and there stood, Chris and Marcus glaring at us.

"Hello? Jennifer? Please answer me?! Jennifer are you okay?!" Max continued speaking but I was too stunned to utter anything. Casper quickly shielded me from the two monsters.

"Jenni-" Max spoke but the call ended because the battery died.

"No!" I whispered and tried to switch on the phone again but it was no use.

"Casper you traitor!" Marcus thundered before marching upto us.

Casper got up and pushed Marcus away while Chris just stared at the two in amusement.

"How dare you?!" Marcus gritted out and grabbed Casper by his hair.

"Leave me, Marcus." Casper threatened.

"You will pay for what you did Casper. You know very well about what I do with traitors... I kill them." Marcus seethed and my eyes widened.

"Go ahead." Casper challenged.

"Casper!" I cried out his name and his angry expression softened on hearing me.

"This is gonna be interesting." Chris amused, as if he was watching a movie.

Casper punched Marcus in the guts, making him even angrier than he already was.

"You fucker! Help me instead of just watching the show, you idiot." Marcus yelled at Chris who rolled his eyes at his father. Chris got out a gun and shot Casper on his shoulder.

"Casper, no!" I yelled and tried to reach him but my chains constrained me.

Chris took the opportunity and grabbed both of Casper's arms and twisted them behind his back, making him scream out in pain.

I was just sitting on the floor watching the cruel scene in front of me where Marcus was repeatedly punching Casper. A few more of the monster's men entered the room.

"Deal with her." Marcus nodded to me and continued torturing Casper.

The three men quickly surrounded me and pulled me up on my legs.

"Don't even touch her!" Casper barked out, earning a hard slap on his cheek.

The men took out knives and my heart started beating faster.

One of them got a hold of my arm and twisted it around, making me scream in agony.

The other one sliced my stomach with a knife, making me bleed. He took my hand and started bending my fingers backward and I let out a bloodcurdling scream.

"Jennifer!" Casper cried out. He looked like a bloodied mess himself, with a bleeding shoulder and completely bruised face.

A guy grabbed my throat and started choking me. I clawed at his hands trying to get him away from me but it all went in vain as I felt my oxygen supply being cut off.

"NO!" Casper yelled and managed to free himself out of Chris's hold. He tried to come near me but before he could, Marcus turned him around and swinged a knife backward before stabbing Casper in the stomach.

"CASPER!"

Marcus pushed him down on the floor, where he laid fighting for his life, trying to breathe.

They all took out their belts and one by one started hitting me. I kept screaming and crying, begging them for mercy but they just laughed at my face like the cruel monsters that they were.

A bloody mess, I was lying on the floor trying to move as I felt myself slipping into unconsciousness. They all left, leaving Casper and me alone to suffer in our affliction.

Tears were streaming down my face like a river, my nose and arms bleeding and my whole body aching in severe pain.

Somehow with the support of the wall, I pushed myself up and managed to drag myself near Casper.

"Casper." I Whispered his name. Hearing me, his closed eyes opened and he put his blood covered hand on my cheek.

"Jennifer....I am sorry, I won't be able to get you out of here." He managed to mumble out.

"Nothing's happening to you, Casper. You will not leave me here alone." I placed his head on my lap and caressed his soft hair. My tears fell down on his face as he stared at me, looking heartbroken.

"I won't survive, Jennifer. But you will. You have to." He said. I stubbornly shook my head and rested my forehead on his.

"We will both get out of here, alive." I said in a broken voice.

He caressed my cheek, staring into my eyes with nothing but love. "I am happy that I met an amazing person like you in my life. I'll never forget you, Jennifer." He softly said, only making me cry harder.

"Can you... Can you.. Kiss me one last time, Jennifer? Please." He innocently whispered.

I stared at him through teary eyes.

"You were my first kiss. I want you to be my last as well."

"Casper." I weeped.

I kept my hands on his cheeks and started leaning closer to his face. He closed his eyes at the same time as I did. Remembering all the sweet moments that I had spent with him, I pressed my lips onto his soft ones. Our lips slowly moved in sync as we both cherished the last intimate moment with each other.

I pulled away from him, my heart aching for him, for the pain he was suffering.

His cheeks were burning a bright shade of red as he smiled at me. "Thank you." He whispered.

"Casper. Don't go, please." I begged him to stay on for a little longer as his breaths started getting slower.

"Don't cry, Jennifer. Maybe I'll come back to you and this time really as... Casper the friendly ghost." He grinned.

"No Casper. That's so creepy." I cried.

He chuckled and hearing that sound made me subconsciously smile.

"I am glad that I saw your smiling face before-" the words got sealed on his lips as he took his last breath in my arms. His once full of life green eyes were now dead. His heart stopped beating and I cried his name over and over, but he never replied again...

*****

It had been hours since Casper passed away in my arms. I was just staring at his dead form lifelessly. I saw Marcus kill him in front of me. I saw him die in front of me.

And I couldn't do anything but watch...

I was still staring at Casper's body when someone barged inside the room.

"Jennifer." They gasped. I heard footsteps approaching me and then felt arms around me. "Jen- oh my god." Another person gasped.

"Jennifer?!" The person holding me said but I just kept staring at Casper.

"Sister, look at me." The other person said. "We found you Jennifer. You're safe now."

"But Casper isn't." I whispered. I finally looked away from Casper's body to the person who was holding me. My eyes widened as I stared at Zack.

"Zack?" I whispered in a broken voice.

"It's me, baby." He kissed my forehead.

I clutched his hoodie in my fist as I started crying loudly. "Shh.. You're safe now. No one will hurt you anymore." Zack said and caressed my hair.

"They killed him, Zack. They killed Casper." I wailed.

Zack's POV:

"Tristan!" Max and I yelled at the same time after the call went dead. "I know. I had already started tracking the number." He said not glancing up from his laptop.

"She sounded so hurt." Charlotte cried.

I was pacing around the room like a mad man, waiting for Tristan to just tell us her location. That bastard Marcus made her cry. He will have to pay for what he did.

"C'mon boys, let's go. Let's get Jennifer back." Tristan announced and left, we all following behind.

"Charlotte, you stay here. It's not safe for you to come with us." I ordered.

"But-"

"I said no, Charlotte!" I yelled.

Liam tried to make her understand and she finally agreed.

"A private jet?" I asked in shock. "Of course. We don't have time to waste." Tristan muttered.

Throughout the journey, Max kept calling that number again and again, but it was switched off. I was getting more and more anxious by each passing minute. Finally I'll get to see and hold her in my arms again. My Jennifer, she didn't deserve any of this misery.

"We will kill everyone coming in the way, except Marcus. I won't let him have an easy death." I announced to all the men, who actively nodded.

Tristan was busy typing away stuff on his laptop while Max was looking tense. He was tapping his foot on the floor anxiously, while rubbing his forehead. Liam and Damien were looking determined to face the worst.

After a few hours of flying, the jet finally landed. We got all our weapons ready and got out. Tristan and I were in the lead, as everyone else followed behind.

I was blindly shooting everyone who tried to stop us. There was no sign of that coward, Marcus.

"Damien, Liam, go and find Marcus. Tristan, you and the men deal with these men while Max and I are going to search for Jennifer." I ordered.

"There are too many rooms, where could she be?" Max asked, looking worried.

"We'll check all the rooms." I replied.

There was a door which had a lock bigger than the rest, I shot at the lock and it opened. I kicked the door open and there she was, my Jennifer.

I barged inside the room towards her before I noticed a person lying on the ground. He wasn't moving and appeared to be.. Dead.

"Jennifer." I gasped upon seeing the state she was in. She was lifelessly staring at the person lying on the floor, her arms were bleeding and there was a cut on her stomach.

Her face looked so badly bruised and my blood boiled on seeing her in such a state. She was tied in chains like some animal and looked skinnier than she was.

I quickly went to her and pulled her in my arms.

"Jen- oh my god." Max gasped as he entered the room.

"Jennifer?!" I called out again but she was still staring at the guy's body.

"Sister, look at me." Max begged. "We found you Jennifer. You're safe now." I said.

"But Casper isn't."  She whispered.

She finally looked at me and her eyes widened. "Zack?" she whispered in a broken voice. "It's me, baby." I said and kissed her forehead.

Jennifer clutched my hoodie in a tight fist and started crying. She was shaking. "Shh.. You're safe now. No one will hurt you anymore." I softly said and caressed her hair.

"They killed him, Zack. They killed Casper." She wailed.

Casper must be the guy who was lying on the floor. I looked at Max who was just staring at his sister, with teary eyes.

"Casper." Jennifer whispered before she passed out in my arms.

"Jennifer?! Jennifer?" I tried waking her up but it was no use.

"We need to get her to the hospital!" I said and got up, carrying her in my arms.

"I will kill him." Max seethed.

"What?" I asked turning around to stare at his back.

"I will give him a death he couldn't have ever imagined." Max said, which sounded more of a promise.

"For the torment that he gave my sister, I'll torture him so much that he will beg me for death." Max sounded like a maniac but I agreed with every word he said.

He then bent down to pick up the Casper guy when I interrupted him.

"What are you doing, Max?"

"He seems to be really important for Jennifer. And he's dead, the least we could do is to give him a proper funeral instead of just letting his body to rot here." He explained.

I stared at Jennifer's bruised up body in my arms and my heart broke on seeing her condition. I carried her out of that building in bridal style as Max was carrying Casper's body.

"We got him." Damien came to us dragging Marcus by his collar, his hands were tied up and his lip was busted.

"I may have thrown a few punches at him." Damien shrugged before his gaze fell on the girl in my arms.

"Oh shit." He mumbled.

"Is she Okay?!" Liam frantically asked.

"No." I replied. "We need to get her to the hospital."

"Chris was no where to be seen." Liam gritted out.

"We can worry about him later. We need to get Jennifer treated first." Damien said and we all agreed.
