Chapter 6: Chapter 6- Escape

When They Came [Editing On Hiatus]Words: 7832

With incessant chatting and back- head smacks, ignoring Zack's snarky remarks and Damien's reserved nature, we were done with breakfast. Out of all of us, including me, Max was the one most excited for the shopping trip.

I'd never seen a guy this excited for shopping.

But then again, I have never been actually surrounded by guys so...

"So I was thinking we can-" Max was rudely interrupted by Damien's phone ringing, catching all our attention. Max huffed as Damien looked at Zack, who after seeing the name of the caller urged him to pick up.

"Yes?" Damien said into the phone, eyebrows furrowed.

"Fine." He replied after the caller said something.

"Not yet."

"Don't worry you will get it soon." I was filled with concern when he tensed up, gripping the phone tighter.

"NO! Don't even dare to touch her!" He yelled into his phone.

"You won't-"

"Why?!"

"But wai-"

The phone was disconnected. What was happening? Who was he talking to? And who was this 'her'?

"Zack, let's go." Damien got up from his seat in a hurry.

"Where? Why?"

He didn't even wait to explain anything and just sprinted out of the house. Zack ran behind him, not before yelling at Max and Liam to watch over me.

But what about our shoppi-

"But what about our shopping trip?" Max just said my thought.

"Seriously? That's what you are most worried about?" Liam looked disappointed.

"Well, I can't be worried about something I don't know." Max shrugged.

"Fair point." I added.

"What should we do then?" Liam asked.

"I really want to take a shower." I tugged at Max's shirt.

"Um...I could lend you my clothes for now?" Max Suggested.

"Really?"

"We have no other option..."

"Right."

"Come with me then. I'll give you the clothes and you can shower in my room, meanwhile....."

He glanced at Liam and smirked. "I would go and get us some coconut ice cream!" He giggled.

"Hell yes!" I cheered, joining him in his goofy mood.

"What are you two? 8 year olds?" Liam frowned.

"What are you? An 80 year old grandpa?" I bluntly asked.

Max and I shared a chuckle while Liam didn't look as amused.

"But seriously... What's wrong with ice cream?" Max asked his friend.

"Nothing is wrong with ice cream... The problem is the coconut in it."

"Oh hush Liam. C'mon Jen."

Max took my hand and led me to his room, leaving a sighing Liam behind.  His room was painted with blue and white walls and was surprisingly very clean.

His bed looked so cozy... Well anything would be more cozy than that mattress I had to sleep on in that stinky basement.

"Here." Max handed me a grey T-shirt and black sweatpants, stopping my observation of his room.

I thanked him to which he nodded and left the room. Adjusting my hold on the clothes, I entered the bathroom to take a nice long shower. Who knows whether I'll be allowed to take another one soon or not.

This was just my first day of being kidnapped and I already feel so exhausted. I mean, home wasn't so good considering I live alone... But I'd still prefer that than being kidnapped.

Halfway into cleaning myself, I began forming plans to leave this place. Damien and Zack are not here, thank goodness. Max has also left.

That leaves only Liam alone in this house with me. This is the perfect opportunity to escape.

Wrapping the towel around my body, I came out of the bathroom and nearly had a stroke when I saw Liam sitting on Max's bed, shirtless, smirking at his phone screen.

"WHAT THE HELL, LIAM?!" I shrieked, clenching the towel around myself tighter.

The guy screamed and flinched so hard I felt guilty of scaring him like that. But what the heck was he doing here, sitting shirtless?

"God! Jennifer! You almost made my life flash in front of me.."

"What are you doing here? Why are you not wearing your shirt?" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Relax. I am told to look over you. There is a window in this room which was wide open. Rest you can understand." He shrugged a shoulder.

"What about you being shirtless?" I raised an eyebrow.

"I need to take a shower too. So I was debating whether or not I should wait for Max to return." He justified.

"And besides, I know you like the view." He smirked at me, flexing his muscles for emphasis.

"Don't be delusional."

That was a big fat lie. Yes! Omg he looked so good. His model like body and muscles and omg what if I just touch those abs-

"So why are you staring then?" He said with a wider smirk.

"I am not."

"Yes you are."

"Well not anymore!" I shut my eyes closed, trying not to pay much attention to my flustered cheeks.

Who wouldn't stare at such a perfect body of a super cute guy?

I heard Liam laugh and stand up from the bed. If he goes to take a shower then it would be much easier for me to escape.

"So, what did you decide then?" I asked as I opened my eyes, only for them to widen and make me stumble back in surprise when I saw him standing right in front of me.

Liam held my arms to prevent me from falling and making a fool out of myself as he stabilised me on my feet.

"I am going to wait." He simply said as he let go of me.

"NO!" I said a little too loud, making him raise an eyebrow in suspicion.

"I mean, you should take a shower. We don't know how long it will take for Max to return and besides you have already taken your shirt off so... why wait?"

He opened his mouth to say something but I cut him off.

"And I promise I will not try to escape. Really."

I nodded and looked at him with my most innocent eyes while my brain was already worrying about the tiredness I will face from all the running while escaping from here.

"Really? You won't try to leave?"

"No, I won't." I false assured.

"Uh.. I don't know.. I'd rather wait than to take the risk and get killed by Zack."

I didn't try to convince him any further because if I did that, he would be even more suspicious and definitely won't leave me alone. So I just shrugged.

"But can you go out of this room please? I need to change."

"You can change while me being here... I'll close my eyes." He grinned.

I stared at him with a blank expression. Was he serio-

"Relax.. I was just kidding." He giggled. "I am going out but don't even try to jump off that window." He warned.

"I won't."

He looked unsure but eventually left. I locked the room as soon as he was out and quickly got dressed. Max's clothes were loose on me but they were still comfortable so I am not complaining.

Tiptoeing, I went over to the window and looked over my shoulder to the room door before staring down.

Should I jump? That's the only escape. Will I break my bones? It would be really painful if I did. But it's not that high-

Oh fish this! I am jumping!

And that I did. Without thinking twice, I jumped out of the window and crash landed on the ground with a thud. "Ouch!" I rubbed my butt as soon as I stood up on my feet.

That was one nasty fall. Hopefully I won't have to suffer another one of these.

Looking around, I only found trees waving their branches at me. This house was in the middle of a fricking forest? Where should I go now?!

Not taking much time to think, which was highly reckless, I just followed a random direction and ran, wanting to get away from this house.

Sometimes your luck supports you, right? My luck is shitty so that means it will help me in this needy situation, right?

What kinda stupid logic is that?!

I heard Liam calling my name from somewhere behind. Shit! I needed to run faster but I was already at my maximum speed.

I looked behind me and found no one. He must be still far behind. I put all the energy those two sandwiches and orange juice gave to me and ran, unknowing where to go.

Sometimes just follow the path, without caring about the destination because destiny is one great thing that helps. So that's what I did. I just followed the path hoping that destiny would help me.

But the universe really enjoys seeing me miserable. I can already see it eating popcorn and laughing at me.
