âI see, so thatâs why youâre angry. Tell me, what did Charlotte say to you?â Wayne looked at her with a complicated expression.
When he couldnât find Anna last night, he thought that maybe she knew something about what happened between Charlotte and him. After all, he had only learned a few days ago that the president of SG England was Charlotte. At that point, Charlotte had been staying in the hotel for several days.
Anna smiled mockingly and replied, âOh, donât you worry. She didnât say anything to me. Plus, I donât think she even wanted to talk to me. After all, youâve known each other since you were kids. Sheâs your real fiancée, and the love of your life. She can prove everything just by standing next to you. Youâre a cute couple and a match made in heaven, am I right?â
Wayne interrupted her and said unhappily, âAnna, do you know what youâre talking about? Stop saying that.â
âNo, I donâtâ Anna turned her face to the side, deliberately not looking at him.
âStop it. If you want to know what really happened between us, then letâs go to your office and Iâll tell you all about it. You know, I donât like it when women are unreasonable. And, I donât think youâre a unreasonable woman.â
Anna clenched her fists hard after hearing his words. She thought about it all night and eventually tried to pretend that she didnât care. But, when she saw Wayne, she knew she couldnât pretend anymore.
She had completely lost her mind and turned into an irrational jealous woman. But even though she knew she acted like that, it didnât mean that Wayne could say that to her face. So, Anna was heartbroken.
She quickly got into the elevator and said, âOh, forget it. Iâm not in the mood for that. Letâs talk about this later.â
Well, I need to be alone and have a little time to think about it anyway. Anna thought.
Ryan had already packed up his luggage. When he saw Anna, he began to tell her about his overall plan. However, Anna had been distracted and didnât seem to be listening to him at all.
âYou look a little haggard. Whatâs wrong? Are you not feeling well?â Ryan asked, frowning at her with concern.
Anna snapped back and tried to change the subject, saying, âOh, Iâm fine. When will your plane take off? Iâll drop you off at the airport.â
âYou donât need to do that, Anna. The plane leaves at three in the afternoon. Youâre supposed to be at work then, so you might not make it.â
Anna smiled and said, âOh, I can do that. Iâll just take a short leave.â
After leaving Ryanâs room, Anna went straight back to her office. As she walked down the hallway, she encountered many employees who came to work.
When they saw her, they all said hello to her. However, Anna always felt that there was something strange about the way they looked at her.
Only when she opened the door to her office did she understand why. She realized that instead of leaving, Wayne was sitting in her office.
âOh, hi. What are you doing here?â Anna froze as she touched the doorknob.
âAnna, I need to talk to you about what happened last night. You can leave the door open if you want everyone outside to hear our conversation.â
Anna froze and then immediately glanced behind her. The offices on this floor were all extremely quiet, and people passing by seemed to be trying to eavesdrop them.
She frowned, closed the door and asked, âWhat do you want to tell me?â
âAbout Charlotte. I swear I didnât know that she was the president of SG Group until yesterdayâ Wayne said directly..
Anna stopped frowning, but still remain silent.
Wayne then said, âYouâre mad at me for not telling you about what happened between Charlotte and me, arenât you? Well, Iâll tell you everything now, since itâs not a secret. Charlotte and I are just close friends. My father was very fond of her when he was alive, so he got us engaged. Then, my father passed away, and she married someone else. So, our engagement was called off.â
His side of the story was not far from what Karl had said, but Anna still felt upset.
âI donât like to be misunderstood. So, I think I have to explain this to you before I leave.â Anna immediately looked up and asked, âWhat? Where are you going?â
âAh, to London. Iâm going to deal with a real estate project, and I may be gone for a while.â Wayne said, and his low voice echoed in the office.
Anna was still jealous. But just as she heard he was leaving, she was immediately shocked. The whole sudden separation from him thing overwhelmed her.
âWell, do you want to ask me about anything else?â Wayne asked.
Anna looked at him, hesitated for a moment, and finally shook her head.
I already knew what was going on. But, I still minded their relationship. I didnât know if Wayne would ever get back to her, but I couldnât control that. Besides, I couldnât get it out of my mind right away. Anna thought to herself.
As his gaze became hard to read, Wayne took two steps closer to her and said, âAnna, my flight leaves at 2:00 pm. Also, I hope that you can tell me about your past when I come back. You can ask me about my history, and then I want to know yours too.â
He had looked into Annaâs profile when he first met her. However, he found almost nothing. He knew that Annaâs profile seemed to have been revised during her years abroad.
Gabe searched what she had gone through abroad for a long time, but couldnât find anything. Wayne didnât even try to hide his past from Anna. However, he found out that Annaâs years abroad seemed to be a bigger secret.
After Wayne left, Anna sat alone in her office chair, lost in thought.
She felt as if the experiences of the past few months had been a dream she had had. Everything had happened so quickly, and time had passed so soon. As a result, her plan was disrupted. Also, the longer she dated with Wayne, the more she was unsure whether she should tell him that she was that surrogate.
Just when she thought Wayne was in love with her, Charlotte came along. Charlotte made her realize that Wayne was not only tender to her. So Anna could no longer confidently say that Wayne loved only her.
Just as she was thinking about it, her phone rang.
She heard Peace say seriously, âAnna, Karl had just told me something. Get ready for that, will you?â
âDonât worry, go ahead.â
âCharlotteâs family seems to be preparing to meet Wayneâs grandfather recently. Theyâre planning to renegotiate her marriage to Wayne with him.â
âIs that so? Ah, itâs okay. Itâs not a big deal,â Anna breathed a sigh of relief and didnât take the matter seriously She knew that Peter couldnât make decisions for Wayne about his marriage. Only Wayne could decide if he wanted to get married and to whom.
Peace immediately shouted, âDear God! How could you be calm? Anna, I think you have to do something about that. Youâd better ask your dad for some money now. Karl said that the Wilsons are planning to put up a lot of money and property as Charlotteâs dowry. Theyâve got the shares, the stores and the property ready to go. You know, they spent all that money just to get Charlotte married to Wayne.â
Anna laughed aloud and said, âWhy do they need to spend money when they marry their daughter off? Thatâs ridiculous.â
Peace was shocked, saying, âMaybe they think that it will be a reciprocal investment.â
âPeace, you just advised me to break up with him last night. You said a man like him wasnât worth me paying for him and keeping him.â
âBut, I donât think Wayne made any mistake! The only thing he did wrong was not telling you about it in advance. And I think that even if he had told you about Charlotte in advance, it wouldnât have been good for you. If you knew about it, you would only feel sad.â
