Ryan took a deep breath as if he couldnât believe heâd made the wrong decision.
âIâll go to Leeds again and look into the matter/â he said after a brief pause.
Anna turned to face him and said, âYou donât have to do that right away. You already know that the more hurried you are, the more likely you are to make a mistake. Donât miss a single detail.â
Ryan was embarrassed and muttered, âOkay, | understand. This time, Iâll get to the bottom of it. Otherwise, my reputation will suffer.â
âYou mean, your reputation of being âThe number one detective* in your school?â Anna teased.
Ryan blushed as he looked at Anna.
His classmates had previously given him that nickname to tease him. He thought it was silly, so he told them never to call him that again. However, the more he protested, the more they wanted to joke with him, and eventually, even his teachers called him that.
Ryan, on the other hand, wondered how Anna knew about Anna said with a smile, âActually, someone called you that just now on our way here. Didnât you hear it?â Ryan covered his face in embarrassment and appeared to want to leave the cafe.
Anna, he felt, had treated him like a child.
At that moment, someone heaved the tray onto the table and announced, âYour two caramel macchiatos are ready.â
Emily then said fiercely to Ryan, âOkay, stop that. Youâre playing the shy card, arenât you? But, you look disgusting!â
She then took her tray away and was leaving.
Ryan expressed his displeasure, saying, âHey! Iâm not doing that! Are you insane?â
Emily turned to face Anna and then she said to Ryan, âAm | insane? Youâre insane, in my opinion!â
Then she said to Anna, ââLady, you may not be aware that Ryan is a well-known womanizer at our school. He frequently brings ladies of all ages here for coffee and always orders two caramel macchiatos.â
Ryan became awkward and inquired, âHey, what are you babbling about?â
Anna, however, remained calm and asked, smiling at Emily, âReally? He even tried to date old ladies? Heâs really sick, isnât he?â
Emily said with a nod, âYes! Heâs such a p****=t. So, donât let him fool you! He just likes to mess with women.â
Ryan was so annoyed that he laughed out of anger and said, âEmily, youâre a natural storyteller! Could you use your talent for selling coffee?â
Emily said firmly, âHey! Iâm being completely honest! | witnessed it firsthand!â Anna blinked, and then she said, âThank you so much, Emily. That is very kind of you. But Iâm just his sister.â
Emily froze, and then asked, wide-eyed and surprised, âYouâre his sister? â
âSheâs not my biological sister, but weâre very close,â Ryan said, rolling his eyes at her.
Emily appeared to be at a loss for words as if she hadnât anticipated this. She inquired, âOh? Really?â
Anna said as she wanted to joke with her, âSure! You know, my daughter is five years old. So, does Ryan actually flirt with women of different ages? Heâd been seeing a lot of them, hadnât he? Could you please keep an eye on him for me?â
Emily blushed immediately and said, âWhat? Thatâs not going to happen! Miss, Iâm going to get you some pizza.**
â| didnât order any pizza!â exclaimed Ryan.
âThis is from me to the lady. âEmily said as she entered the kitchen.
Ryan thought she was acting strangely. When he looked up, he noticed Anna scowling meaningfully at him.
âSheâs a complete psycho! Anna, why are you staring at me like that? Is there something wrong with my face?â
âNo. But | believe that the girl has a crush on you.â
Ryan looked at Anna, perplexed, not understanding what she was saying.
After a brief silence, Anna made a curious face and asked, âCanât you see that she likes you?â Ryan immediately glared and said, âStop teasing me, please...â
Anna asked curiously, âWhat are you talking about? | think sheâs cute, donât you think so?â
Ryan appeared hesitant, then exclaimed in horror, âSheâs cute, but sheâs insane. Do you have any idea what her major is?â
Anna didnât know what to say, so she said a few random things, âWhat exactly is it? Nursing? Intelligence? Please tell me!â
Ryan took a deep breath and asked, âDo you know about the Blue Eagle department at our school?â
Anna replied hesitantly, âIâve heard of it. Isnât it a program that trains special forces for the army?â
Ryan nodded and added, âYes. These special talents will eventually become special forces, and they will be deployed to borders and battlefields in the future. They are subjected to much stricter discipline at school, and they are not even permitted to date other people. Besides, Emily voluntarily joined the department in the first place. She had long been prepared to fight for her country, so falling in love is out of the question for her.â
âWhat? You mean sheâll be a Special Forces soldier in the future?â
Although she saw Ryan nod, Anna still found it hard to believe. The girl was short and skinny, and she didnât look like a soldier.
âAs a freshman, she broke the school shooting record. She had defeated hundreds of opponents over the years, and she was capable of taking on several trained adult men on her own. She was a maniac every time she arrived at the training ground. Iâve never seen anyone go so crazy fortraining before, so Iâm afraid of her.*â
Anna became even more intrigued when she noticed Ryanâs fearful expression.
Then, she asked, âSo, what kind of girls do you prefer? There are several girls who like you at the Carousel Hotel, so | can introduce you to a few of them. Do you prefer girls who are a little older than you?â
Ryan leaned back in his chair, seemingly contemplating something.
He said in a lower voice, not daring to look Anna in the eyes, âIt doesnât bother me if my girlfriend is older than me. | like gentle girls, and | hope she can be gentle with her family while being cruel to her adversaries. | hope she can be kind but not coddled, tough but gentle.â
Anna had no idea what he was referring to. âDoes such a person exist in the world?â
âYes. | wish she could look after me, buy me snacks, and be concerned about my well-being.â
Anna seriously looked at Ryan before asking, âYouâre not talking about your mother, are you?â
