Lillianâs voice was so loud that it drew the attention of half of the people in the hall.
Anna stood in the middle of the crowd, aware that some of those around her were sympathetic while others were contemptuous.
Lilianâs voice was like a megaphone, amplifying the pain Anna suffered in the past.
âAllie certainly deserved to die in agony! She didnât even apologize to you before she died, did she? I admire you for that, Anna. |
wouldnât have gone to her funeral if| were you. Anna, you were a wonderful sister.â
Anna clenched her fists and struggled to keep her cool. âLilian, Iâm not sure what youâre talking about,â she said.
Lilian scowled at her as she folded her arms as if she had expected her to never admit to this. She said viciously, âHow can you not remember that? This happened just six years ago! It was your eighteenth birthday, and your father surprised you with a big house. Allie was envious of you, so she let a group of men get into your room. Later, you went to America. You tried to hide that from everyone, right?â
Annaâs face became paler and paler as she spoke in greater detail Jacob quickly stepped out of the crowd and in front of Anna at that moment.
He snarled, âWhat are you doing, Lilian? Have you gone insane? Do you have any idea what youâre talking about?!â
âIâm just telling the truth! Everyone thinks Anna is a bad daughter because she refuses to take responsibility for her fatherâs group. Well, | want everyone to know how badly her family has messed up her life. People will stop blaming her this way, so Iâm doing it for her sake.â
Lilian stated in her defense. Jacobâs face was solemn after hearing her words, and he cursed, âLunatic!â
He turned to face Anna and said, âSorry about that, Anna. You should leave now, and Iâll take care of everything for you.â
âDonât forget, Jacob, you broke up with Anna a long time ago! Iâm the one whoâs married to you!â Lilian was enraged to see how much Jacob cared for Anna. So, she shouted as if she didnât care how many people were staring at her.
Jacob had long been irritated by Lilian. He became even angrier when he saw her humiliating him in front of many people and shouted, âNot anymore!â
âWhat do you mean? Youâre going to divorce me for her?â
âThatâs enough!â Lilian was interrupted by Anna. She calmed down as she observed this couple arguing.
After some thought, she took a deep breath, looked around, and said indifferently, âLilian, we did once have a beef. But thatâs no reason to spread rumors about me! Plus, you canât make fun of Alllie because sheâs dead, When you intervened in Jacobâs relationship with me six years ago, you spread rumors at school that I was the one who cheated on him. Do you still want to humiliate me in this manner? They were young back then, so everyone believed your craps easily. But, everyone here is all decent people, so no one will ever believe you!â
In fact, the people around her joined in because they knew what Lilian said was outrageous. So, they all realized she was lying after some thought.
The guests gathered around Anna began to speak as soon as she finished speaking.
Lilian was enraged and exclaimed, âWhat? | swear to God that Iâm not lying! Iâd heard Allie say she put aphrodisiac in your drink and had you taken to a hotel room. Plus, there were four or five guys in that room waiting for you!â
Everyone was stunned, including Jacob, who was wide-eyed. He only knew Anna had been in an accident that night, but he had no idea what had happened. So, he never expected that Lilian knew it.
The guests all began to talk about this thing.
Anna laughed and said, âLilian, do you really know that much? Why are you so certain you knew everything? You used to be my best friend, so Why did you allow her to harm me? You should have informed me of this long ago, but you didnât. Why are you telling me now? Itâs been six years!â
Lilianâs face flushed in defense, and she said, âAh! | couldnât because Allie wouldnât let me!â
Anna stated icily, âOf course, you can blame Allie because sheâs no longer alive. Lillian, donât overestimate yourselfâ
âWhat are you talking about?â Lilian became enraged.
âThat night, nothing happened. | was only drinking because | happened to see you having s*x with Jacob. Nobody took me anywhere after that!â
âThatâs impossible!â âAnything is possible.â Scott emerged from the crowd, drawing everyoneâs attention.
Anna turned around and saw the crowd making way for Scott. Then, she noticed that Randal was walking behind him. Scott stood at Annaâs side. He was much taller than her, making her feel safe.
His face was expressionless, and he said glumly, âBecause Anna had left the bar with me that night. | know youâre an ignorant woman, so Iâm not going to argue with you about the rumors you just said. If you say it again, Iâll make you bear the consequences.â
Lillian obviously didnât believe him and asked, âHuh? You did?â
Randal interrupted her before she could finish, saying, âWell, | threw this party because we hadnât all gotten together in a long time. We wanted everyone to meet new people and catch up with old friends. But, now is not the right time for you to talk about whatâs going on with your marriageâ
Randal was the president of AW Group, and everyone looked up to him.
Jacob immediately realized what he meant and responded, âIâm sorry, and | should not have allowed this to happen. We had a fight before leaving the house, which is why she said all of this nonsense. Iâm really sorry, everybody. Iâll make sure she realizes sheâs made a mistake.â
Lillian was about to say something else when Jacob interrupted her and said, âIf you say one more word, Iâl divorce you tomorrow.â
Hearing that, Lillian had no choice but to keep her mouth shut.
Meanwhile, a woman in a yellow dress stood outside the crowd at the time and witnessed everything. She looked around but couldnât find the person she wanted to see, so she went to the second floor.
Randal became irritated as he looked around at the crowd. He said, âOkay, people, stop watching. This is a personal matter between Jacob and his wife.ââ
Everyone gradually left. Scott touched Annaâs hand and noticed it was icy. So, he inquired, âAnna, are you okay?â
âDonât worry, Iâm fine,â Anna said with a sigh of relief.
Randal looked at them as they held hands and said, âWell, go get some rest.â
Scott echoed, âYeah, thereâs a lounge upstairs. Let me walk you there.
Anna immediately withdrew her hand and said, âNo, thank you. | can go there by myself. If you see Wayne, please tell him Iâm there.â
Scott frowned, then said, âHey, why is he being a wimp now? Where is. he?â
Randal looked upstairs and said, âOh, heâs probably in the bathroom. Maybe he didnât know what was going on here.â
Scott seemed unconcerned, then rolled his eyes and said, âWhy was he taking so long to use the restroom? Is there a problem with his, âthingâ?â
