In the early hours of the morning, Anna heard a beeping sound.
Thinking that it was her alarm clock ringing, Anna slapped it heavily a few times but found that it was still ringing.
She glanced out the window and saw that it was still dark. And when she looked at the time, she noticed it was just 3:00 a.m.
Anna quickly realized that it was not her alarm clock ringing but her cell phone.
She had just answered the phone when she heard Andrew say in a panic, âAnna! The warehouse is on fire!â
Ina hurry, Anna asked Wayne to go to the warehouse with her.
When they arrived there, they discovered that the warehouse was still burning. There were two fire trucks spraying water to stop the fire, but they didnât appear capable of putting out a fire like this.
Anna had just stepped out of the car when she noticed Andrew standing next to her. He seemed out of place as if he had just gone out of the burning warehouse.
Andrew said, â| left here at 8:00 p.m. last night after checking the goods. Then | asked the staff to double-check them tonight. An hour ago, someone called me and said that the warehouse was on fire. Iâm not sure how the fire started, but Iâm sure it isnât our fault.â
Anna, who was struggling to breathe, exclaimed in frustration, âWhat is the point of debating who is to blame right now? You know, our deadline is ina week. | told you we needed to deliver the goods today to avoid accidents like this. But you insisted on keeping them in the warehouse. And now the warehouse is on fire! We couldâve avoided this incident!â
Hearing that, Andrew appeared tired and perplexed. He stood there silently, listening as Anna blamed him Wayne said, âEnough, Anna. Calm down. The warehouse is still burning, and we have no idea what is happening. So, donât blame Andrew now. What you need to do now is figure out how to fix it.â
Anna became irritated and yelled at Wayne, âSo, what do you have in mind, Mr. Know-it-all2â
She was so enraged that she stomped on the paper box next to her.
It was the first order of Lemon. Since founding the company, Anna had discovered that she had faced numerous setbacks, but she had overcome them all.
Much to her surprise, right before they were going to deliver the order, the warehouse was on fire, making all their hard work go in vain.
And she guessed that someone must have done this on purpose.
At that moment, Mona walked over to their side. She and Wayne exchanged glances before separating Anna and Andrew so that both of them both would have enough space to calm down.
Andrew was devastated as well. He left his previous job because his boss didnât trust him and forced him to take the responsibility. Because that situation was similar to this one, he was filled with mixed feelings.
Wayne said as he pulled Anna back into the car and wrapped his, jacket around her, âAnna, take it easy. Just calm down, okay?
Maybe things arenât as bad as you think.â
Anna was irritated to the core. She buried her face in her hands and sighed, âIsnât this bad enough already? This is a total disaster, Wayne! It appears that | am incapable of managing a group on my own! | would have just managed Lemon if | had known that. | shouldnât have let Andrew take care of everything. Heâs not the boss and canât handle everything on his, own!â
Wayne felt sorry for Anna when he saw her sad expression He said, âWell, you have two options now. The first is to gain credibility by earning less. You can negotiate a half-month delivery extension with Joan Group. However, you must pay at least half of the liquidated damages. If that happens, you will lose money.â
Anna clenched her fists, and then said, âActually, âm very concerned that even after | spend the money, | wonât be able to persuade them to change their minds about me. You know, that bastard Richard has been eager to see me being embarrassed.
He just wants to buy my company after | lose money and ruin my reputation.â
Wayne said calmly, âDonât worry, honey. You have another way. The deadline is in a week. And there are only half of the goods in the warehouse, and the other half are still in the factory. Well, that means we can have all factories in Birmingham produce all the ruined clothing in a week.â
âWhat? Wayne, thatâs not possible.â
Wayne said emphatically, âAnna, nothing is impossible. Youâll know if it will be possible if you try.â
Anna had been frustrated before. And she felt better and regained hope after seeing how determined Wayne was.
The fire burned all night and was only put out at dawn by the firemen.
The next morning, Anna held an emergency meeting at the company and told everyone to go to various clothing factories in Birmingham to place orders.
She ran into Andrew several times but didnât have time to talk to him.
Mona reassured Andrew in the pantry, saying, âAndrew, please donât be angry. Anna said those words because she was feeling anxious. She wasnât trying to point the finger at you.â
Andrew remained silent and lowered his head.
They were about to leave when they heard some employees outside discussing the matter.
One of the employees said, âIâm sure someone in our company started the fire. Have you read the news? Carousel has expressed interest in purchasing our company, but Anna has refused it. Guys, weâre ina crisis!â
âHuh? What are you talking about? Who would do that?â
âHey, it was the first person who arrived at the warehouse that did iteâ
When Mona heard this, she looked at Andrew as she felt nervous However, he stopped her as she was about to walk out the door to explain to them.
Then the employees all started talking. âNo way! Is it really Andrew?â
âAre you sure you donât believe me? | once heard that Andrew had an accident at his previous company and quit because he betrayed his boss. Andrew now spends every day at the company, working his ass off to design clothes.â
âHowever, Anna does not appear to be treating him well. She didnât even provide him with a place to live! Every day, Andrew sleeps in our small and shabby break room. So, if the Carousel Group gives him more money, heâll surely work for them.â
At that moment, Andrew said, âTo be honest, | think Carousel Group may not be able to give me what | want.â
Hearing that, the employees looked surprised and terrified.
Andrew looked at them all indifferently before saying aloud, âIâve been staying at the office late because Iâm preparing for a design competition. | just heard you say that Anna isnât very nice to me. If thatâs the case, Iâm curious how much other top Birmingham designers get paid? Miss Gabriel offered me to stay in her villa on Royal Road. As you all know, itâs a very large and expensive house. The Carousel Group can afford to pay for such a house for me. But their new president is not necessarily willing todo so.â
Everyone knew that the houses on Royal Road were all large and upscale. And only the rich people among the richest ones could afford to buy them.
Just as everyone was in a daze, they heard Anna ask, âHey, what are you doing? Why are you all surrounding Andrew?â
They turned around and saw Anna, who looked like an elite in her dark green trench coat, white shirt, and khaki wide-leg pants.
She said calmly and briefly, âOkay, enough with the gossip.â
