They got back to Birmingham late at night. Jasper called Anna, and then drove Isabella to the hospital.
In the hospital, Isabella lay in the bed, her face hidden behind the covers. She paid close attention to Annaâs expression to see if she was mad at her or not.
Annaâs movements were gentle because she was redressing Jasperâs wound. Meanwhile, she said to Isabella firmly, âYou donât have to look at me that way. If had known you would do this on your own, | would not have asked you to work for me.â
Jasper had only just told Anna what had happened, which terrified her. She couldnât imagine how remorseful and heartbroken sheâd be if that man had hurt Isabella deeply.
âIâm sorry, Anna,â Isabella said sincerely.
Annaâs bandaging abilities were clearly better, so Jasper could move his fingers flexibly. He then gave her a satisfied nod.
As Anna reached for the scissors, Jasper noticed the cartoon stickers on her wrist and asked, âSince when are you interested in these childish tricks?â
Surprised, Anna looked at him and then at her sticker. She changed the subject stiffly instead of explaining as she packed her toolbox. âIs Michael dead?â she asked.
Isabella nodded.
âDid it happen by chance?â
âIâm not sure.â Isabella answered and shook her head. ;457 | Want to Take Him in â| donât think itâs a coincidence,â Jasper said firmly. He pulled his phone from his suit pocket and showed Anna a few photos, adding, âSabrina first met this man when they were both in Birmingham. Micheal found out about their relationship three months ago and beat the man up. The man then stopped seeing Sabrina. Micheal then resigned and returned to Sun Town with his family.â
Anna looked at the pictures and realized what the point was. âThis man, Antonio Doyle, received $200,000 in his bank account,â
she frowned.
Jasper nodded and said, âYouâre right. His name is Antonio Doyle. He had $200,000 in his bank account three days ago when he went to Sun Town to look for Sabrina. That is clearly not a coincidence.â
Isabella exclaimed, âMicheal decided to go out after receiving a text message from Sabrina. She, on the other hand, claimed she had not texted him ata 11.â
âWhere is Antonio?â Anna asked, perplexed.
Jasper stood up and replied sternly, âAntonio isnât going to say anything. He has a wife and a child, and that kid is only a month old. He must keep them safe, so he is extremely cautious.â
Jasperâs words made everyone nervous, and Isabella and Anna had trouble breathing.
At that moment, a nurse walked in and said, âAnna, that child is causing trouble again â
Hearing that, Anna stood up, walked to the door, and then told Isabella to rest and have a good rest. âThereâs someone | want you to meet,â she said to Jasper.
Jasper followed Anna downstairs to a childrenâs ward. When he opened the door, he saw a boy with orange hair walking around the ward in 457 | Want to Take Him in his bare feet. His quilt and pillow were scattered on the floor, and the room was empty except for a bed.
âHello, Gary,â Anna greeted him in a friendly tone.
When he saw Anna, the little boy fell silent. His expression shifted from confusion to excitement, and he dashed forward, wrapping his arms around her thighs.
Jasper was taken aback and asked, âWho is this little guy, Anna? How come Iâve never seen him before?â
After hearing Jasperâs voice, the little boy looked up and acted terrified. Anna stroked him and said, âGary, donât be afraid. Heâs a close friend of mine.â
Her words did not appear to calm Gary down. He ran to the back of the bed and let out a roar as Jasper took a few steps forward to get closer tohim Anna looked resigned and awkward. She pulled a sticker from her coat pocket and grabbed one of Jasperâs hands. And then, she placed the sticker on the back of his hand, held it up to Gary and said, âSee? Heâs my friend.â
The little boy instantly calmed down when he saw the back of Jasperâs hand. He wasnât as hostile anymore, and he was much more relaxed. He moved closer to Jasper, getting close enough to see the pattern on his hand Following that, he flashed a smile and grabbed Jasperâs hand. And Jasper was stunned.
Under Annaâs guidance, Gary took out a drawing board and began writing on it. After that, he showed Anna the drawing board. A woman dressed as a nurse was on the drawing board, holding a needle towards a boy behind a hospital bed. 457 | Want to Take Him in Anna hummed a song to comfort him after looking at it.
âOh, I see. Is that how Matthew used to communicate with you guys when he couldnât talk?â
Jasperâs words reminded Anna of what had happened five years before. She smiled as she remembered the good times she had with Matthew, saying, âGary always reminded me of Matthew, so | enjoyed being with him.â
Gary was exhausted. Because Anna was by his side, it didnât take him long to fall asleep. Anna then gently lifted his trouser leg.
When Jasper noticed the tattoo on his ankle, he asked, âWhat is that?â
Anna told him what she knew. When Jasper had fully comprehended it, she said, âGary can leave the hospital tomorrow, and |
wanted to take him back to the Wrightâs house. But there are a lot of people there, and | doubt heâll be safe. So, âIâl be back in New York in a few days, and he can stay at my house. | donât have many maids at home, and | live there alone right now. Donât worry, itâs extremely safe there.â He cut her off before she could finish her sentence, âIâll look into things about Michael, so you donât have to worry that either.â
