Wayne appeared smug and condescending whenever he showed off his daughter. Anna couldnât take it any longer and said, âDonât be upset, Ryan. You can Emily can have another child when she comes back. You might also have a daughter later.ââ
Ryan snapped back to his senses and said, âYouâre right! Ill have a daughter later.â
Wayne was cutting steaks for Tammy at that time. âBut Emily doesnât have time for that,â he said calmly.
What Wayne was the harsh truth that everyone was avoiding mentioning. Emily was away on missions and rarely had the chance to go back home, so she and Ryan saw each other only a few times a year. They had very little time to themselves.
Anna didnât bother to keep talking to Wayne and Ryan because she thought their two childish quarrels were boring. While their fathers were still arguing over the â-daughter thingâ, Tammy was putting meat into Zacâs small bowl.
âTammy, he canât eat that,â Anna stopped her immediately and said.
âKids grow taller if they eat more meat,â Tammy said.
Anna sighed and said, âThatâs right. But heâs only two years old, so he canât eat anything with a strong flavor.â
âItâs okay. He can eat it,â Tammy insisted as she placed another piece of meat in Zacâs bowl. Then Zac blinked his big eyes and ate with his chubby little hand holding a fork. He picked up a piece of pizza, attempted 513 Baby, | Miss You to hand it to Tammy, and said, âTammy, eat some âneat.â âThe word is MEAT, not âNEAT.â
How wonderful it would be if Tammy was my daughter!â Ryan said.
âYou wish!â Wayne frowned and said.
Ryan gave Wayne a hard stare and said, â| just imagined it! Why are you so mean to me?â
âDonât even think about it,â Wayne said, pulling Tammyâs chair toward him. Wayne thought, /could have been much meaner!
Keep your distance from my daughter, Ryan!
Because they had a rare opportunity to get together, Peter asked the maid to open a nice bottle of wine. Afterward, he and his two grandchildren kept drinking and talking.
The maid sent Peter to his room to rest at 9 p.m. Anna and Jennie were chatting on the living room sofa when the guys were drinking. Tammy dashed to Jennie, hugged her arm, and said she wanted to sleep in her room.
Jennie stroked Tammyâs face and asked, âReally? Youâve recently been staying at Selinaâs house and you havenât seen your mother in a long time. Donât you want to stay with your mother tonight?â
â| like you the best, so Iâm going to sleep with you.â
âAre you afraid Iâll mention what happened to you at school?â Anna asked, rolling her eyes at Tammy.
Tammy got into a lot of trouble at school recently. If Anna wasnât so busy with work, she would meet with Tammyâs teacher and discuss these issues with him. 513 Baby, | Miss You Jenny, who had always been kind to the kids, agreed to Tammyâs request. Tammy then began to yawn. Then Jennie said, âThey donât appear to have had a good time. Anna, why donât you just stay here tonight?â
Anna turned around and faced the dining room, saying, âIâm sure theyâre both drunk by now. Iâm going to go tell them to stop drinking.â
When Anna walked downstairs, she noticed that the two men were drunk. The maids were standing nearby, unsure of what to do. They all breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Anna.
Then Anna uttered, âPlease walk Ryan to his room, guys. Iâll look after Wayne.â
Wayne disliked it when others other than Anna made physical contact with him. Even when he was drunk, he held fast to his principles. As a result, the servants were hesitant to move him.
Anna grabbed Wayneâs hand, but he shook it off and grunted, âGo away!â
âItâs me, Annaâ Anna said, frowning. And she thought, You donât know who | am? Looks like youâre really drunk.
Wayne raised his head, resting his face on his arm. âWho are you?â he asked after staring at Anna for a few moments.
âWho do you think | am?â
At that moment, Ryan was helped to his feet by the servants. He reached out, patted Wayne on the shoulder, and asked, âHow come you havenât recognized your own wife? Youâre so stupid!â
âThereâs no way | wouldnât know my wife!â Wayne propped himself up on the table and staggered to his feet. He moved closer to Anna to examine her. And Anna took a step back as she smelled the strong odor of alcohol. She worried Wayne would fall down, so she reached out to support his shoulders. âWayne, wake up,â she said. 513 Baby, | Miss You When Wayne saw Annaâs frown, he smiled and smiled, âThatâs right, youâre my wife.â
Hearing that, Anna was on the verge of bursting out laughing. She realized he could only recognize her when she was angry at him.
âReally? Look at who she is, Wayne! Otherwise, youâre screwed!â Ryan made a joke.
âWell, come this way, please,â a servant said as he helped Ryan to his bedroom.
Suddenly, Wayne tightened his grip on Anna, making her almost unable to breathe. âWayne, stop that. It hurts.â Caught off guard, Anna said to him.
âHoney,â Wayne whispered, and his breath blew on her hair. No matter how hard she tried to break free, he wouldnât let her go.
âIâm going to forbid you from drinking later if you donât let go of me.â
âBaby,â Wayne exclaimed. His voice was sexy and low, making Annaâs, heart race. She was immediately flushed. And when she noticed the maids beside her covering their mouths and snickering, Anna was embarrassed and irritated. She really wanted to punch Wayne hard and tell him to stop talking so intimately to her in front of the servants.
âBaby, | miss you,â Wayne said, leaning against her neck. He was trying to be cute, which made him look like a different person.
Anna was enraged, but she knew heâd drunk and there was no way she could talk sense into him. She then gently patted him and said helplessly, âOkay, Iâm here. Let me take you back to your room.â
Wayne rubbed the back of Annaâs neck. As Anna didnât dare to look at the servants, she quickly walked toward their bedroom with him. 513 Baby, | Miss You Because he was so drunk and he staggered all the way, Anna could barely move him. She had to work hard to drag Wayne to the bed and lay him down. After finally dragging Wayne to the bedroom, she rubbed her aching wrists and sat on the bedâs edge to catch her breath.
âWayne, youâre so heavy. Do you have any idea how tiring itis for me to drag you all the way here?â Anna grunted as she removed his slippers and tossed them aside before unbuttoning his shirt.
When Wayne grabbed her hands, she was halfway through unbuttoning his shirt. Before she could react, he dragged her to the bed. He began to kiss her passionately, passing her the taste of wine.
âThe dooris still open!â Anna snapped.
âOuch! Be gentle!â
âAhiâ
The winter wind blew the fallen leaves to the ground, making the city appear dull. The streets were still lovely, but there were few pedestrians on them. Jasper and Isabellaâs wedding was scheduled for Sunday, so everyone planned to arrive two days early.
Anna was still in the hospital operating on a patient the morning before the flight. She rushed to the airport immediately after the surgery. After arriving at the airport, Anna tried to call Wayne to ask where he was. She then noticed a woman standing in the distance.
That woman was folding her arms and yelling at her husband. âDonât come near me! Iâve told you many times that | hate your mustache!â
â| forgot to shave it.â
âNonsense! | know you did it on purpos âBelieve me, honey! I really forgot about i âDonât call me honey!â
Anna walked over to them after hanging up the phone. âPeace, are you lecturing your husband again?â she asked.
Peace shook her head. She immediately smiled and hugged Anna when she saw her.
Anna placed her hand on Peaceâs shoulder and looked sympathetically at Karl, who was sitting in the chair. âKarl, what kind of art is this?â she asked, looking at his comical mustache.
Peace told Anna a few days ago that she and Karl had had a big fight. They argued only because he had recently developed a strong desire to grow a mustache. Anna thought it didnât matter because men always had interests that women couldnât comprehend. Anna had no idea what other people thought of it, but she knew that Peace disliked men with beards, regardless of how neatly trimmed they were.
Peace immediately frowned. She said, âWhat heâs doing is nonsense, but not art! Iâm not sure what heâs trying to do with that damn beard. Iâm telling you, Iâm not going to sit with him later.â
Karl, who had been well-tampered, told his wife with a smile, âSorry, dear. | really forgot to bring a razor. Iâll shave it when we get to the Maldives. Donât be upset.â
âIâm not upset with you! Letâs go sit over there, Anna;â Peace walked toward an empty seat, completely ignoring Karl.
Anna motioned to Wayne on the other side, telling him to look after the kids. And Peace began chattering as soon as he sat down. âIâm so angry at him! Heâs not the type of man for a beard!â
Anna laughed and said, â| heard he was opening an art gallery. Is he doing this to make himself look more like an artist?â
âHuh? He did not paint the paintings or create the sculptures. He did 513 Baby, | Miss You nothing but spend money on it. He just likes to do weird stuff! He could have done more meaningful things.â
âWhat do you want him to do? Clean the house and look after the kids?â
âOh, Martinâs really getting on my nerves lately! Heâs only eight, but heâs already gotten into much trouble. He acts just like his father! And he Would rather live with his grandparents than with me. | donât know what | should do about him.â
Hearing that, Anna raised her head And found that Tammy was fiddling with her phone as Karl chatted with his daughter Apple in the distance. And Martin wasnât there.
When Anna noticed Peace had a worried expression, she said, âYouâre not angry because Karl has a beard, but because of Martin.â
Peace raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
âIâve got an idea that might persuade Martin to move back home.â
âReally? What do you have in mind?â Peace asked.
