âMaâam, please donât get me wrong. I donât even know him!â Alicia exclaimed, her eyes widening âWhat are you talking about?â Anna asked, surprised, âI havenât said anything, my dear.â
âWhat are you doing here, Mom?â Matthew asked âYour Uncle Ryan and I said someone called the cops to arrest you, so I came to see you,â Anna explained. As she noticed the swollen lump on Matthewâs forehead, Anna exclaimed, âMatthew, what happened to your forehead?â
Without answering Anna, Matthew cast a glare at Alicia. Under his glare, Alicia felt so guilty that she wanted to run away. Here comes his mother. Iâm so screwed! I have no chance to be with him anymore... she thought to herself Lowering her head, Alicia whispered, âMaâam, Iâm sorry.â
After seeing the little girlâs pajamas, Anna realized she might live there. Then Anna panicked even more and thought, = What?
Youâre living here with Matthew?! Youâre still a teenager!
Thinking of that, Anna questioned Matthew, âWhat is going on here, Matthew? What are you doing?â
âHuh? What?â Matthew asked, puzzled âWhy do you have a girl living in your house?â
âMom, I donât live here, remember?â Matthew frowned âI know you sometimes live here. The point is, you donât seem to respect this girl at all! Matthew, you canât do that!â
545 Itâs A Misunderstanding âMaâam...â Alicia couldnât help but interrupt her However, Anna kept on saying, âDonât worry, I will take responsibility for this. Where do your parents live, girl? Iâd like to go meet them.â Aliciaâs eyes widened in surprise as she realized Anna had misunderstood the situation Matthew sighed and said, âHuh? No! Itâs not what you think, Mom.â
âIâve seen you living with this girl!â Anna exclaimed anxiously. She then sighed and appeared to be blaming herself. âIâm sorry. Itâs all my fault I should have been more concerned about your life, Matthew.â
At that point, Alicia realized she couldnât remain silent any longer She said, âWeâre not really living together, maâam. Your son and I have just met.â
âHuh?â Anna went completely still âMom, I told you,â Matthew said calmly to Anna Then, scratching her nose, Alicia explained awkwardly, âIâm Amberâs... Oh, Tammyâs new...â
âSheâs Tammyâs friend,â Matthew cut in, giving her a wary look âCan either of you two explain to me what this is all about?â Anna asked while crossing her arms Matthew interrupted Alicia by saying, âI came here to deliver a package to Tammy. I had no idea Tammyâs friend was staying here for the time being, so I walked right in. I thought she broke into her house, and she thought I broke into hers. So, we called the police âIs that it?â Anna asked, frozen Puzzled, Matthew looked at his mother, and said, âYes, that is all What else do you think it could be?â
Hearing Matthewâs explanation, Anna felt relieved. She told Alicia, âIâm really sorry. I got the wrong idea about that.â
Shaking her head, Alicia said, âNo, I should apologize for it. Before I hit him, I didnât even ask who your son was.â
âItâs fine. Thatâs not serious at all.â Anna spoke calmly After hearing this, Matthew looked surprised because he knew Anna was acting as if she didnât care. She had to make a big deal out of every time he was hurt before. And he couldnât figure out why Anna said that While Matthew was still wondering what had gotten into Anna, Alicia said, âHis forehead is swollen and has bled. We should take him to the hospital.â
âIs it bleeding? Oh, itâs not serious. He just scraped the skin there. Iâll take care of his wound later,â Anna cast a glance at Matthewâs forehead and said âWhat? We donât have to go to the hospital?â Alicia asked in surprise âThat wonât be necessary. Iâm a doctor myself.â Anna then took the medicine box from the coffee table. âYou donât sound like a local, do you?â Anna asked Alicia while cleaning Matthewâs wounds Alicia froze because that sounded vaguely familiar. After surveying Annaâs pretty face, she realized Anna was somewhat familiar.
Then she asked, âMaâam, have we met before?â
Anna misinterpreted what she was saying. She said, âIs that so? Maybe itâs because of our fate. See, you and my son met because of fate, too. Maybe we knew each other in a previous life, so weâre meant to be family in this life.â
âWhat are you talking about, Mom?â Matthew asked, frowning After sparing a quick glance at Matthew, Alicia asked Anna, âDid you go to the airport yesterday?â
âHow did you know that?â Anna asked, frozen Aliciaâs eyes sparkled. âYesterday, I dislocated my arm,â she said, holding up her arm It wasnât until then that Anna remembered that theyâd met before Surprised, Anna said, âOh my goodness! Itâs you!â
Alicia exclaimed excitedly, âWow! It seems we do have a special bond Iâve been dying to find out where you work because I owe you so much!â
With a gauze on his forehead, Matthew asked coldly, âAnd thatâs how you would like to express your gratitude to her? By attacking her son?â
Hearing that, Alicia looked embarrassed. To her surprise, Anna did not blame her. Instead, Anna asked Matthew, âWhy are you treating her with such an attitude?â
Smiling, Anna and looked at Alicia before saying, âSorry, Matthew is just joking. Please donât take it personally. How do you and Tammy know each other, by the way? Did you go to the same school?â
Alicia froze and looked at Matthew, waiting for him to save the day âWhat are you doing staring at Matthew? Are you and Tammy friends?
How come Iâve never seen you before?â Anna took Aliciaâs hand in hers and asked âTammy switches schools all the time, so you definitely didnât have the chance to meet all her friends,â said Matthew Huh?â Anna was lost in thought. Just as she was about to ask another question, someone opened the apartment door âMatthew!â Tammy yelled as soon as she walked in In response, the three people on the couch rose to their feet. Among them, Alicia practically jumped off the couch. She muttered, âYouâre finally here!â Thank goodness you showed up just in time, Tammy! Otherwise, /âII be screwed! I canât handle Matthewâs hostile demeanor and your momâs questions on my own! Alicia thought to herself The moment she saw Anna, Tammy asked in astonishment, âWhat are you doing here, Mom? Arenât you supposed to be at the hospital? How is Aunt Mona doing?â
âWhy didnât you tell your brother that you allowed your friends to stay here? Do you realize how much confusion youâve caused them?â Anna grumbled âMy... friend?â Tammy asked, surprised. She didnât realize what was happening until she noticed Alicia blinking desperately at her âOh... Yes! Alicia is one of my friends. She only moved in yesterday, so I havenât had a chance to tell Matthew about that yet. Iâve been so preoccupied with rehearsals since then that I completely forgot about it.â After finishing her words, Tammy drew Alicia behind her and then went to see Matthewâs injuries. Then she squeaked, âHoly crap! You got a wound on your forehead? Does it hurt?â
âIâm fine,â Matthew said, sighing helplessly, âLetâs go, Mom. The girls need some rest.â
âAll right, letâs go.â
Before leaving, Anna asked Alicia again and handed her a note with her phone numbers on it, âAre you okay? Hereâs my phone number.
Please contact me if you need anything.â
âYou should leave, Mom. Iâll tell Alicia your phone number later,â Tammy said After Anna and Matthew left, Tammy leaned against the door panel and let out a long sigh of relief, saying, âThat was close.
âYeah, and Iâm sorry for what happened. So, what should we do now?â Alicia said nervously
