Preet comes out of her trance feeling the movement of Veer's fingers in her hand.
She sat straight and took his right palm between her palms. She looked at him.
"Veer?" she softly called him.
She was surprised as she again felt his fingers moving. His eyeballs move behind his eyelids making her smile a little.
"Can you hear me, Veer? I am Preetâ¦" tears appeared in her eyes when he gripped her hand giving a little squeeze to her palm.
"Please try to open your eyes, Veerâ¦" she asked, kissing his eyes softly.
He blinked his eyelashes when her tears fell on his face. Slowly he opened his eyes with lots of difficulty. His eyelashes felt heavy.
As he opened his eyes, his gaze fell on the most beautiful face of his wife, who had the biggest smile on her face and tears were shining on her eyes.
"Pre..eet" he breathed out but felt pain in his throat.
She smiles and bobbles her head. She began to place small kisses on his face making him close his eyes in peace.
"I love you so much. I love you, Veer," she asked while kissing his face and soon she started crying.
"You are very bad. I got so scared. You scared me, Veer, â¦" she looked at his face cupping his face gently.
He sighs looking at her tears and shakes his head but ends up hissing in pain.
"Please don't move. Let me call the doctor," she panicked as his face twisted in pain.
She pressed the button to call the doctor and looked at him in concern.
She looks at him as he is trying to breathe normally and lightly caresses his hands.
Soon the doctor entered with the nurse. Aarav and Damini also come inside but are surprised to see Veer as he wakes up.
The doctor checks him and his vitality. He smiles at Veer.
"Don't worry you are fine Mr. Rajvansh. But be careful and try not to exhaust yourself. Rest as much as you can. As you broke one of the ribs and have sprain in your arm I suggest you not lift heavy weight for two weeks. Don't stress yourself, am I clear?" the doctor instructed him, who just blinked his eyes as his head hurts while moving due to surgery.
The doctor turns to Preet and gives her an assuring smile.
"He is okay, Mrs. Rajvansh. He just needs care and lots of rest. Just be careful with his injuries," Preet nodded at him and gave him a grateful smile.
Aarav comes to meet and smiles at him, making him return the smile.
"You scared us, Bhai. Now get well soon," Aarav said and then sharing a few more words, he went out after nodding at Preet to buy medicine for Veer.
Damini looks at him, not knowing what to say to him while he is staring at her with a longing look on his face.
She finally gather some courage and walk near his bed,
"How are you feel?" she asked feeling awkward.
"Feeling okayâ¦" he whispered in a hoarse feeling his throat hurting as he talk.
She nodded and then look at Preet,
"I am going now. Take care of him. Call if your need anything,"
Preet simply nodded at her and give her a tight smile.
Damini left as she was feeling very awkward inside. His eyes is staring at her like he used to when he was a baby for his attention. She was feeling weak under his soft gaze.
Veer move his eyes from door as Damini left and look at his wife with a small smile. Preet was also looking at him with sadness in her eyes.
"Come here, â¦" he called her near him softly.
She slowly walk near him and look at him but instantly close her eyes feeling them burning as tears formed in them.
He felt guilty and hold her wrist and pull her to sit beside him. She looked away to hide her face as her body started shaking badly.
"Are you angry with me?" he asked worriedly, making her shake her head.
He gently holds her chin and turns her face to look at her face. He sighs softly seeing tears on her cheeks and gently wipes them from her face with his thumb.
"Don't cry, please. It hurts seeing you like this,"she sob hard and hiccup badly remembering the pain she went through a few hours ago.
"Stop crying or I will kiss you right here. And you know we have cameras in our room," she looked up at him as he playfully glared at her.
She blinked her innocent eyes then looked at the camera in the corner of the room.
He chuckle at her make her face him,
"You are such a crybaby," he said in a low voice and took her palm to his lips and kissed her palm.
"I was scaredâ¦you don't kn-" she complained cutely, making him smile at her.
"I am sorry, love. I am so sorry," she shook her head and cupped his face lovingly.
"Don't be. Just not ever do that. Don't leave me or I will die," she whispered, pecking his forehead softly as she cried silently.
"Shhâ¦Where will I go leaving you, huh? We have a long life together," She smiled and nodded at him.
"I love you," she sniffed saying this and gave him her beautiful smile.
He felt his heart skip a beat as she confessed her love. He holds the back of her neck and pulls her face closer to his before placing a soft kiss on her lips.
She smiles against his lips and closes her eyes.
She is feeding him soup with her hand while he is giving her an annoyed look.
"It tastes horrible. Now enough, Preet," he told her, making a disgusted face.
She rolls her eyes at him and keeps the bowl on the side table. She helps him in drinking water and then taking a tissue paper, she gently wipes his mouth.
"Such a drama queen you are. And you call me crybaby," she mutters, teasing him.
"Then taste it, then you will know how awful it is," he said, narrowing his eyes at her, making her smile at his cuteness.
"Wait!...Did you eat?" She looks away and bites her inner cheek.
"Preet!! You didn't eat anything right," he sternly said and glared at her.
"I will eat after sometime," she told him nervously as he was glaring.
"No, go and eat something right now. Aarav has time to come back. Why are you so careless about yourself? I will be fine. Go to the canteen and have something. Goâ¦" he firmly said, leaving no room for any argument.
She sighs and pouts at him, making him narrow his eyes.
"Don't try to woo me, Preet," she huffs and then sighs loudly.
"Fine! But you will call me immediately if you need anything or have any problem, okay?"
"I willâ¦now go," he assured her.
She left to eat something after closing the door behind.
After a week
Aarav helps Veer out of the car as they come back from the hospital after a week.
Preet is walking behind them, carrying their things.
Avni stood up seeing them entering and walked toward them.
"How are you Bhai? Sorry I couldn't come to see you because of my health," she said sadly.
Veer smile at her and shake his head,
"It's completely fine, Avni. Your health is also important, don't worry,"
Avni smiles lightly then looks at Preet who smiles and blinks her eyes assuring her.
"Thank you, Aarav. I don't what would I have done without you,"
Preet said after they took Veer to their room and made him sit on the bed.
Aarav playfully glares at her,
"We are family, Bhabhi. Don't thank me," Preet still gives him a grateful smile..
Aarav left them alone so that Veer can rest.
Veer sighed and lean his back against the headboard.
"It felt so good to be back," he mutters, making Preet giggle at him.
"Don't laugh, wifey. That nurse was really evil and so frustrating," he grumbled, borrowing his eyebrows.
"You should be like this, Veer. They were just helping you to recover soon. And also why should not scold you if you eat junk food in this condition, " he narrowed his eyes at her but royally ignored him.
"Now rest for a while," she sat beside him on the bed and gently brushed his hair back, careful of his wound.
"Come join me. I did see you resting since I was in the hospital," he said, holding her hands with his and shifting aside, making space for her.
"But I have to arrange your lunch," he glared at her playfully.
"I rest if only you rest with meâ¦that's it," he stubbornly said.
"God, You are annoying," she mutters, frowning at him and removed her footwear.
She helped him to lay down because the doctor told him not to put pressure on his midriff due to his broken rib. And then she also laid beside him and carefully hugged him.
She sighs, feeling him in her arms. The feeling is out of the world. She felt content and peaceful like this.
She smiles and looks up as he kisses her head.
"I love you," saying she places her lips on his and kisses him softly. He let out a sigh against her soft lips and moved his lips with her.
Next day
Only Sumitra, Preet and Veer are in the house. Damini and Urmila have gone to some gathering. Avni has an appointment today so she and Aarav went to the hospital. While Anaya and Rajveer are at their work.
After helping Veer in cleaning up, she does his dressing and comes out of their room to prepare their breakfast. While he got busy on call with his assistance to get updates on his work and office.
As Preet stepped down the last stair, she saw Sumitra leisurely sitting on the sofa in the living room and having her tea. But as her eyes fell on Preer, she smirked at her before smiling brightly at her.
"How is Veer now?" she asked in her annoying voice.
"By god grace, he is very much fine," Preet said with her blank face and was about to walk away when Sumitra stopped her.
"Dearâ¦where are you going in such a hurry? I think we should talk about the paper you sighed in the hospital, right?"
Suddenly Preet remembered those papers as she completely forgot about them in stress.
Looking at Sumitra's happy and glowing face, she knew something was really wrong. But she was so panicked at that time. Her mind is not in sense. All she was thinking about at the time is Veer and how to save him.
She saw her bending and taking a file from the table.
"Here are those papers, which are going to change your fate, sweetheart. Please have a lookâ¦I wanted to see your reaction,"
She forwards those papers to Preet while smirking evilly.
Preet felt her heart drop in her stomach as her words were scaring her. She look at the file in her hand then at her who has a content look on her face,
She hesitantly took the papers with her trembling hands and slowly opened the file.
