The papers fell from Preet's hand in shock and shattered near her feet. She slowly raises her head and looks at the devilish smile of Sumitra. Her whole body went numb reading the content.
It is unbelievable for her to think about her and Urmila's hate for her and Veer. They shock her every time she thinks they can't be lower than this level. But how wrong she is.
She felt anger, shock, hurt, pain, and scared all together right now.
"How is it, Preet? Did you like it?" Sumitra asked, giving a sweet smile before lightly chuckling, seeing Preet clenching her fists on her sides.
"Are you regretting not reading it before signing, hmm?" she asked, making a fake curious face.
"I am not and never will be because it is worth as I have my Veer with me safe and sound. But I regret expecting a little humanity from cruel people like you and your daughter,"
Preet said with gritting teeth. Sumitra chuckled slightly looking at her.
"Wellâ¦leave it. It's of no use now, right? Let's talk about the main matter, shall we?" she said seriously and then sat in the middle of the couch leisurely as if she owned the place.
"So as stated in the contract you and your husband have to leave Rajvansh Villa and all the luxuries and properties associated with Rajvansh's name. Every single thing belongs to you and Veer will go to Aarav and his wifeâ¦" Preet was feeling her inside burning in anger. And her heart clenched in pain thinking of the intensity of her decision.
"And most important one, you and Veer will not have any child and will serve my daughter's family for your whole life. You vowed to never become a mother in your life as per the contract andâ¦you yourself signed these papers with your will. Am I right, darling?" Preet looked away and closed her eyes tightly, seeing her smirking at her, having a satisfying look.
"And don't you dare to tell anyone and make my daughter's life more difficult," Preet turned to her, glaring at her at the audacity of her to warn her after her disgusting act.
Tears are shining in her innocent eyes showing how much she is going through right now. The emotional stress and pain are too much for her weak heart.
"And here are the property papers. Get Veer's and yours signed on it before tomorrow's breakfast. Now I can't tolerate your and Veer's presence anymore. It's better if you leave soon,"
Preet immediately held the armrest of the couch as her legs were shaking. She covers her mouth with palm and closes her eyes to hide the tears. A choked sob left from her throat making her whole body shake in pain she felt in her chest.
But suddenly her cry stuck in her throat as she heard a voice,
"Why are you crying, Preet?"
Veer said, coming near her while walking slowly.
Her body stiffened, realizing his presence near her. While Sumitra rolled her eyes giving them a boring look.
Veer stands near the sofa holding its backrest for support. He looks at Sumitra and then Preet who turns her face away from him. But he knows she is crying by hearing her soft sniffing.
"Please don't do your drama in front of me. Also now that you come here why don't we have some important talk, right Preet dear?" Sumitra said, looking at them with a sweet evil smile.
Preet fist her hands tightly glaring at her. Angry tears formed in her eyes.
While Veer is getting confused as he looks between them with a frown.
"Here sign these papers, Veer," Sumitra said in a blank tone, giving him properties papers.
Preet looked at her and felt her breath stop. Her eyes widened slightly, fearing Veer's reaction.
He looked at Sumitra with a frown, then looked at those papers before taking them in his hand.
"What is this?" He asked Sumitra and looked at the papers. Soon his confused eyes widened in shock reading the content.
He looked up at Sumitra with an unbelievable expression and soon anger filled in his calm eyes.
"What nonsense is this, Nani Ji?" he asked in his angry voice.
Sumitra glares at him and steps near him. She looks at Preet who is looking down with her eyes closed tightly.
"This is the truth, Veer. And your wife accepts this, am I right Preet?" Preet snaps her head at her then looks at Veer who is looking furious.
She looked down and didn't know what to say anymore. She is speechless.
"She can't. I know," He said, throwing the paper on the table and glare at her.
"Come with me, Preet," he said firmly and was about to hold her hand to leave but Sumitra's angry voice stopped them.
"Then asked her. She herself signed a contract on your behalfâ¦" She said looking at Preet.
Veer turns to Preet and his eyes soften looking at her innocent face. But feeling his gaze on her, Preet look at him with watery eyes and said,
"I am sorry, Veer," she whispered, taking his hand between hers.
But Veer was shocked in shock and disbelief.
"Please, â¦I have no way. I was helpless, Veer. I am really sorry, ..but she -" She sobs, gripping his hand more tightly. But he didn't give any reaction to her pleading.
"They made me helpless. I have to save you. I couldn't think of anything at that time. I love you, please trust me,"
She cupped his face and looked into his eyes while crying her heart out. He wrapped his arm around her waist feeling her slipping down. She placed her head on his chest and kept crying and murmuring sorry to him.
He looks at her face with a soft gaze then looks at Sumitra who has a boring look on her face.
"What have you done? You are behind everything?" he started in a stern tone looking at her.
She smirks slightly and sighs before nodding her head proudly.
"Of course or who else. Finally, my heart is feeling peaceful after so many years. Seeing your pain and misery made me happy. And I will give you a life worse than hell, trust me. Now don't waste my time and sign these papers,"
"I won't!!" he said loudly but his head snapped toward the entrance where Urmila was standing.
"Sign the papers Veer,"
Veer looks at her with widened eyes and shock as she is glaring at him.
Preet pulls away but fist his t-shirt in fear. He shouldn't know about her. He will be broken.
"Veerâ¦" she called him but his eyes didn't move from Urmila.
"Choti Maâ¦please," Preet pleaded with her to stop but Urmila just looked at Veer.
"If you consider me as a mother figure ever then leave this house forever. I can't tolerate your presence in this house now. Because of you, my son has no value in this house and business. But now it's a high time, my son deserves what you have. I won't let you come into his life. I had enough of you in my life," Preet looks at Veer in worry, feeling him stiff as he is looking at Urmila with a blank face. This is scaring her.
"What do you want?" he simply asked.
Sumitra smirks while Urmila gets shocked but composes herself.
"Just go away from our life and let my family live peacefully. And you won't take a single penny with you. Name everything you and Preet have to Aarav and Avni. That's all I want," There is silence in the room for a minute before his lips curve into a smile.
"That's it. Fine, have everything you want, Choti Ma. If that makes you happy then I'm ready. I don't need anything. But I want my wife's share-" Preet shakes her head.
"No, I don't need anything. Not from these people who snatched my husband's hard work for their greed. I have you, it is more than enough for me," she said with tears flowing down her eyes.
He smiles weakly at her then turns to Urmila. He took the papers and pen from the table and signed them with his trembling hand.
Preet wiped tears from her cheeks and her heart squeezed painfully, noticing his hand shaking while signing the paper.
"I hope you are happy now," He said, placing the papers in Urmila's hand.
"And don't worry, we will never interfere in your and Aarav's life. From now on, forget that there was a Veer and Preet in your life," he said but his voice breaks in the end.
Preet held his hand and squeezed it slightly to comfort him.
Urmila felt a pinch in her chest as he turned away from her.
Unknowingly tears formed in her eyes. That's what she wants right then why her heart is restless.
Sumitra smiled in victory as seeing them suffering.
Veer looks at Preet who is looking at him with sad and glossy eyes. He gave her a small smile and wiped her tears that slipped from her eye.
He entwined their fingers firmly before looking at Urmila one last time.
He started walking out of the living room with Preet. As they reached the threshold, Veer felt his burning with tears but as Preet gave a soft squeeze in his palm. He let out a shaky breath and finally walked out of the Rajvansh Villa leaving everything behind.
