Chapter 112 Gift
Firashed
Milly wrapped up the last morning scene, and as she finished, Joy hurriedly handed her a bottle of water.
It was an easy scene, done in one take.
Taking a seat u
under the parasol, Milly cracked open the water bottle and took a few sips, feeling refreshed.
Glancing around, she felt something was offâ¦.
After a while, she realised what it was. The atmosphere on set seemed notably more relaxed now. Even Alan had started speaking with his legs crossed.
âDid George leave?â Milly inquired.
As Joy tidied up her windâtousled hair, she nodded. âYeah, he left while you were still shooting. Seemed urgent, like he got an important call or something.â
âOh. I see.â
She had been so immersed in her scene that she hadnât noticed the commotion outside.
Oddly, she felt a pang of loss, like something was missing.
Seeing her serious expression and furrowed brow, Joy couldnât help asking, âFeeling down, Boss?â
Milly hesitated for a moment, then quickly denied. âNo, Iâm fine.â
Although she said so, her furrowed brow refused to relax, and the pentâup frustration in her chest just wouldnât dissipate!
She scratched her head vigorously, wondering what was wrong with her!
Some unknown resentment seemed to be controlling her emotions, suppressing her nerves, but she couldnât quite pinpoint its source.
âHey, hey, hey, Boss, I just fixed your hair, and now youâve messed if up again,â Joy quickly protested.
Milly sheepishly lowered her hand, apologising, âSorry, I forgot.â
Joy carefully fixed her hair and cautiously asked, âBoss, are you upset because Mr. Tate left without saying goodbye to you?â
With a resounding âthud,â the wall of frustration in her chest collapsed.
At that moment, all her resentment and anger seemed to find their source, and her breathing became
much easier.
Soâ¦
Milly bit her lip in disbelief. 4m I really bothered because of George?
No, impossible!

âItâs not about him. Itâs just the filming thatâs got me a bit off. It has nothing to do with George, Milly said firmly.
Joy nodded, choosing to believe her for now, âOh, I seeâ
Then, remembering something, she added, âOh, by the way, Boss, when Mr. Tate left, he mentioned he got gifts for everyone in the crew, but yours seemed to be separate. Donât forget to check it out later, see if you
like it or not.â
Milly flipped through the script nearby and scoffed, âYeah, like anyone cares.â
Even though she said that, it felt like the frustration in her chest vanished in an instant, replaced by a surge of joy.
A smile tugged at her lips.
Hold on, somethingâs wrong.
Why am I smiling? Thatâs the Tate family! Thatâs George! Heâs the person I swore never to yield to!
She shook her head hard, trying to stay alert.
At that moment, the bracelet under her long sleeve moved slightly and then went still again.
Meanwhile, on the other side
Stephanie made mistakes repeatedly during filming. She was just scolded harshly by Alan.
Alan jabbed a finger at her forehead, furious. âYou and Milly are both newbies, but she never screws up. If you have time, learn from her. Acting isnât just about trying hard on your own, you need to watch and learn.â
Sitting under the umbrella, she stomped her foot, her face twisted with rage. âMilly, Milly, itâs always Milly! Whatâs so great about her? Why does everyone always side with her?!â
Just wait, Iâll definitely crush her into dirt.
Ding ding dingâThe sharp ringtone of her phone interrupted her fury.
Stephanie pulled out her phone and saw Jonathanâ on the screen. She frowned. Isnât Jonathan supposed to be filming right now? Why is he calling?
She took a deep breath and picked up the call.
âHello, Jonathan?â Her voice had already returned to its usual sweet and obedient tone.
A deep voice came through the phone. âHello, Stephanie. I heard from Jordan that youâre filming at the Television City. Why didnât you tell me? I could come and look after you.â
Hearing Jonathanâs concern, Stephanieâs angry expression softened, and she couldnât help but smile.
Jonathan always cared about her the most.

âI just got here a few days ago. I was going to tell you, but I didnât want to interrupt your work. Iâm doing fine here, so donât worry about me.
âItâs just that Milly
The unfinished sentence clearly hinted that something was wrong.
As expected, Jonathan immediately exploded, âWhat? Is Milly bullying you? Is she abusing her power?â
Stephanie quickly said, âNo, Jonathan, donât think like that. She didnât bully me. She⦠She treats me really well, really. She really doesâ¦
Her rushed explanation sounded a bit like she was holding back tears, making it clear she felt aggrieved but didnât want to admit it.
Hearing this, Jonathanâs heart ached. âShe did bully you, didnât she? Stephanie, youâre too nice. She treats you badly, and you still defend her. Youâre too naïveâ¦
Stephanie sat on a stool under the sunshade, staring blankly in Millyâs direction. A flicker of malice flashed in her eyes, but her words sounded pitiful.
Jonathan, Milly is nice to me. Iâm not as smart as she is. Itâs normal for the director to like her more than me. Iâm here to learn and Iâm not as good as her at handling relationships. Jonathan, am I useless?â
Hearing this, Jonathanâs face instantly darkened.
He watched Stephanie grow up. She was always obedient and understanding, never fighting or competing for anything. Thatâs why all six brothers were willing to cherish her. He thought Milly was the same.
Turned out, he was wrong.
She was so mean that she managed to alienate Stephanie from the entire crew.
âStephanie, donât worry. Iâll prepare some small gifts for everyone in the crew later. You can hand them out, just to smooth things over. They might cut you some slack since youâre being generous.â
