He didnât know why, but he felt that Milly had an got serious.
In his memory, she was shy and weak. She would cry if he said anything harsh to her. But now, it felt like she was a completely different person.
Milly nodded without
y emotion. Tll keep my word. Iâll go instead of you.
With that, Milly proceeded.
She had barely taken two steps when the speakers boomed, âAttention players, the designated player must proceed. No substitutions are allowed.â
Neal was about to sigh in relief when he heard that.
Milly shrugged and looked at Neal who was petrified. âIâm afraid I canât help you.â
There was no way around it. Neal could only muster the courage to proceed with his mission.
The passageway was narrower than he expected, and it was very dark, with only a single lamp emitting a dim green light, making the corridor even more terrifying.
Standing at the entrance, he tried to psych himself up, telling himself it was nothing.
But, his feet felt like they were encased in cement, unable to move.
After three minutes of psyching himself up, he was still in place.

Milly watched Neal who was about to faint, and couldnât help but ask the staff through the surveillance
Camera
âCan I go with him? The passageway is quite long, and itâs difficult to complete the task alone. Weâll be back quickly. Is that okay?â
Milly wasnât usually one to meddle, and since Neal wasnât her saviour, she had no obligation to help him.
But, she noticed the other three huddled and trembling in the corner.
She couldnât let them scare themselves to death.
The speakers crackled again as the staff discussed it. Finally, they responded, âYes.â
Milly sighed in relief.
She walked up to Neal and said, âLetâs go.
Neal looked at her with happy tears in his eyes.

The push was so forceful that he stumbled back several steps. He would have fallen to the ground had he lost his balance.
Looking up, he saw Jonathan and Oliver standing protectively in front of Milly, glaring at him. âWhat do you think youâre doing? Donât you know that itâs inappropriate to hug and touch your coâstars?â
âYeah, how dare you pull something right in front of me? Do you think Iâm blind?â
Neal tried to explain anxiously, âNo, I didnât mean it like thatâ¦.
He just wanted to show his gratitude, but they made it sound like he was taking advantage.
Oliver snapped angrily, âWhat do you mean then? Iâve had my eye on you for a while!â
Jonathan crossed his arms and looked at him coldly, âIs this how you behave on set, always touching your
coâstars?â
Neal was dumbfounded.
The more he tried to explain, the worse it got.
Milly sighed deeply and pushed Jonathan and Oliver away. âCan you two be quiet for a moment? Since youâre up and arguing, you guys arenât scared anymore, right?â
Her words hit them like a knife, deflating their arrogance instantly.
Milly ignored them and turned to Neal, calmly saying, âLetâs go.â
âOkay.â
âNo way!â Oliver blocked their way again. âMs. Milly, you canât go in there with him.â
He knew that Neal had shown interest in Milly and he was afraid that he might do something to Milly in the dark passageway.
He wanted to protect Milly from Neal.
Jonathan joined in, âYeah, itâs inappropriate for a man and woman to go into such dark places alone!â
Milly raised an eyebrow. âFine, why donât you two go in with him then?â
The two kept quiet again.
Milly resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Why am I wasting time arguing with these two?
âFine, weâll go!â They gave up.
Before Milly could react, the two had already rolled up their sleeves and charged to the corridorâs entrance. Moments later, she say them holding one of Nealâs arms each, dragging him inside without looking back.
Soon, they disappeared.
They looked like they were on a military mission instead of solving a puzzle in the escape room

When the three finally came running out, their faces were pale.
Oliverâs pink hair was messy and Jonathanâs clothes were dishevelled. Only Neal still had his makeup intact and his clothes in order although he looked pale.
Milly looked behind them and saw no one.
âWhereâs Mr. Valor?â
Oliver, sweating profusely, asked, âWhoâs that?â
Milly was at a loss for words. They hadnât listened to the announcement just now.
âThen what did you do there?â
Oliver waved his hand, still shaken. âDonât ask. There was a ghost that kept touching my leg. It scared the hell out of me.â
Jonathan, who was gasping for breath and wiping his cold sweat, added, âThatâs nothing compared to the ghost jumping next to me the whole time. I tried to catch him, but he kept slipping away. It was terrifying.â
