Fuming, Milly marched over and yanked him away from George. She dragged him to a corner of the living room, her glare sharp and unyielding. âDidnât I tell you not to hurt people for no reason? Why wonât you listen?â
Apollo looked at her, bewildered and unable to understand her fury. âAhâwoo?â
Trying to maintain her stern demeanour, Milly felt a pang of guilt at his innocent, hurt expression. But she steeled herself, reminding her heart that his behaviour couldnât be excused.
He needed discipline to become a better person.
He was once an experimental subject, locked away in a cage with no need to learn basic courtesies or emotional control.
However, the situation was different now. He was an independent person. He had to make friends and adapt to society. She wanted him to live a normal life, which meant he had to learn human rules and stop striking someone.
Millyâs expression tightened even more as she took a deep breath. âYou will stand here and reflect on what youâve done. When you understand, you can sit on the sofa.â
âAhâwoo?â
Apollo didnât comprehend her words. As Milly turned to leave, he instinctively moved to follow her, only to be halted by her sharp glare. She pointed back to the corner and ordered, âStay there and reflect.â
Terrified of making the girl who always protected him angry, Apollo stood frozen, unsure of his mistake but obediently following her command, hoping that she would feel better.
âAhâwoo! Ahâwoo!â
Apolloâs eyes were big. Although they were reddishâbrown eyes, they were filled with innocent confusion. and silent pleas for mercy.
Milly almost caved. Her resolve faltered as she bit her tongue to stay focused even though she wanted so rub his hairy head.
This little guy, while not mastering human manners, had learned how to look adorable and pitiful method quickly.
Maintaining her cold demeanour, she cautioned, âDonât move. Stand still and reflect.â
âAhâwoo! Ahâwoo!â
Watching this, George felt some of his frustration dissipate. His expression softened.
