George reclined in his bossâs seat, his stare locked onto the computer screen.

A hazy silhouette moved elegantly under the moonâs glow on the display. The face was obscured, and the visual clarity was low, resembling a candid shot from security footage.
Nevertheless, George couldnât shift his gaze, steadfastly avoiding blinking.
There are only two conditions. First, Giselleâs role must remain unaltered, and second, utilise this sum of 15 million to amplify the teamâs workplace conditions. It shouldnât be overly stringent. If it proves inadequate, return to me, and Iâll allocate further investment.â
Alan was startled.
Just like that? Is it that simpler
Shouldnât he act like other bosses, tossing cash and setting up a lover for a small role?
He dared to ponder this but didnât have the nerve to voice it. Still, since it was so simple, he wouldnât refuse. âAlright. Mr. Tate, I will fulfil your requests.â
After hanging up. Alan couldnât help but laugh. Fortune was definitely favouring him. The movie hadnât even begun shooting, and he already didnât need to stress about finances.
With 15 million dollars at his disposal, he could direct the movie exactly the way he wanted!
His excitement had barely lasted two minutes when a sharp ringtone broke the silence. He grabbed the phone and glanced at the screen, causing him to pause once again.
The display read: Mr. Burnett from Burnett Group.
What was going on today? Why were all these powerful people contacting me one after the other?
Clearing his throat, he responded, âHello, Mr. Burnett.
The voice on the other end was just as icy. âHmm.â
This situation felt oddly familiar.
âMr. Burnett, how may I help you?â
Jordanâs tone was serious. âI understand youâre set to produce a new movie called âSilent Sea, right? The Burnett Group is very interested in this script and has chosen to invest 15 million dollars in it.â
Alan swallowed hard.
If he hadnât known George and Jordan, wasnât acquainted with their voices, and hadnât saved their numbers, he might have thought he was dealing with a scam or a criminal group.
In the past, when searching for movie investors, he had to plead and almost beg, practically on his knees with his script in hand. Even with grand promises, they often chose not to invest.
Now, someone was suddenly keen to invest, and it all felt unreal.

Had the wealthy suddenly become more generous?

âThank you. Mr. Burnett. I was wondering if you have any other requests. Since weâre still in the pre- production stage, we can plan accordingly.
Anthonyâs voice was firm. âI have two conditions. First, Giselleâs role must stay the same, and second, use these funds to make sure the set environment is comfortable and not too harsh. If itâs not enough, contact me, and Iâll add more.â
When the call ended, Alan was completely stunned.
Why did it feel like déjà vu? I just got the same request from both powerful men.
Both demanded that Milly play Giselle, and no one else.
lâait a momentâ¦
Milly Burnett⦠is her surname Burnett?
The recently revealed heiress of the Burnett Group also had this nameâ¦
So, the Burnett Group is backing Milly!
In that case, itâs understandable for the Burnett Group to invest, but why is the Tate Group also participating?
Could the online rumours be accurate, hinting that âMr. Tate actually has a fondness for Mr. Burnett?
Upon consideration, it seemed conceivable. The two were evenly matched, and each interaction carried a subtle undercurrent. Moreover, they were both mature and unmarriedâ¦
Indeed, the realm of the wealthy is remarkably complex.
Milly remained unaware of Alanâs recent encounter.
As usual, she woke up early for school but was surprised to find someone she didnât want to encounter waiting at the door.
Standing at the entrance to Class AâSenior Yearâwas Ken, a robust figure, firmly holding onto a classmateâs collar and pushing him against the wall with forceful words. His posture suggested a potential
confrontation.
The classmates watched quietly, unsure whether to get involved.
Previously, considering Millyâs character, she would have merely left the scene. She tended to shy away from disagreements and definitely didnât want to get caught up in such circumstances.
But now, as the Class A monitor,/she felt obliged to intervene.
Stepping forward, she spoke to Ken with determination, saying, âKen, what are you doing? Release him!â
Kenâs clenched fist halted in midâmotion, his body still with tension.
Who did my angel have to muitness me like this? Such unfortunate timing

Uhâoh, what if she sees me beating up her classmates? Wouldnât that give her a bad impression of me?
Had I anticipated her early arrival, I would have controlled myself.

Pulling back his hand awkwardly, Ken turned to Milly with a touch of unease and said, âAngel⦠youâre
here
Milly furrowed her brow, looking at him with seriousness. âWhy are you creating a disturbance at our classroom entrance? Is resorting to violence really the solution?â
Having lived through two lifetimes, totaling almost thirty years, she couldnât help but feel exasperated at the sight of this boy resorting to violence at the drop of a hat. She felt like giving him a good whack!
How immature!
Afraid of her getting angry. Ken quickly explained, âAngel, please donât misunderstand. I didnât start trouble. It was him over there being disrespectful towards you, saying all sorts of things about how pretty you are. Itâs like a toad lusting after a swan. Do you think he deserves a beating?â
His agitation mounting as he spoke, he began to roll up his sleeves again. However, catching Millyâs icy stare, he paused and stopped himself.
The boy, feeling threatened by him, hadnât expected him to speak so boldly in public. It was probably embarrassing for him, and he immediately retorted, unwilling to back down, âYou just said it yourself. You just claimed that Milly is your angel and that youâll marry her in the future. Arenât you also a toad lusting after a swan?â
âHow dare you!â Ken stuttered, unable to find the right words.
Caught in Millyâs piercing stare, his tough exterior melted away, revealing a blush and a gentler manner.
He muttered to himself, âI did say that, but you provoked me. And, well⦠my words were uncouth.â
Milly was speechless.
Taking a deep breath, she commanded, âKen, go back to your seat. Handle conflicts with civility in the future and refrain from violence.â
Turning her gaze to the boy, she continued, âYou too, go inside. Class is starting soon.â
Seeing Milly getting ready to depart, Ken panicked, âAngel, please wait!â
Milly was confused.
To his surprise, she witnessed a bashful boy produce a sizable thermos from seemingly nowhere, presenting it. âUm, this is a ginseng herbal soup my aunt made. Itâs really good, and I thought you might like to try it.
Milly was taken aback.
What a bizarre move!
Who delivers soup at such an early hour, especially a herbal soup?
