Danny couldnât help but frown as the dishes kept coming in for half an hour. He had been working for George for a long time now and he hadnât seen anything like this before.
âMr. Fitzgerald, thereâs too much food. The three of us canât possibly finish it.â
There was an impressive array of food on the table.
Jason smiled and explained, âTo be honest, I hadnât planned on serving this much food today, but⦠my son invited a classmate and insisted on serving a grand feast. So, the chef cooked a lot.â
âSince the chef was already cooking, I told him to make more.â
Well,
Danny was stunned at Ken putting on such a grand show just for a classmate. It was all thanks to having a wealthy father, he supposed.
âIs the classmate a girl?â Danny asked.
Jason chuckled, âYes, we have him late, so we spoiled him a lot. Although heâs quite reckless, heâs not wasteful. I think he must really like this girl.â
Jason couldnât hide the affection in his eyes when he talked about his son.
Danny didnât think much of it. After all, itâs normal for a teenage boy to have a crush.
George showed no interest in their conversation. He remained silent as if he was lost in his thoughts.
He kept looking at the screen of his phone before finally tossing it onto the table in frustration and leaning back in his chair, sighing.
I have to be patient. Thereâs only a month left until the exams, and I could find her after that.
Thinking of this, George couldnât help but laugh at himself. He never thought he would ever miss someone like this.
After dinner, Jason insisted on seeing them off.
Dannyâs impression of Jason improved significantly after seeing him being humble and sincere.
âThank you, Mr. Fitzgerald.â
âItâs my pleasure, Mr. Tate, Mr. Jarvis. This way, please.â
Jason led them to the nearest elevator.
As the three of them were at a corner, they heard a plaintive voice, âMilly, why did you reject me?â
Although the voice wasnât loud, it was clearly audible in the quiet hallway, especially since their door wasnât fully closed.
George instantly stoppedâin his tracks.

Inside the room. Milly rubbed her forehead in exasperation. She couldnât understand why kids these days. were so persistent. She had no choice but to explain again, I made it clear earlier, that weâre still students and should focus on our studies. Iâm about to take my college entrance exams. Do you think I would agree to date you now?â
Ken, flustered by her coldness, still tried to beg. âI promise I wonât disturb you. Iâll wait until you graduate. Is that okay?â
Milly closed her eyes and delivered the final blow, âSorry, I donât like you. You donât have to wait for me.â
Then, she stood up. Iâve given you a birthday gift and had dinner with you. I need to go home now. Happy birthday.â
âNo! Donât leave yet!â
Ken stood up agitatedly to stop her. âYou have to tell me what you donât like about me so I can change.â
Milly was beginning to get irritated by him.
She regretted having dinner with him.
âI donât like the fact that you like me. Change that.â
âI⦠Ken turned pale.
Outside, Danny couldnât hold back his laugh.
He didnât expect Milly to be so sharpâtongued, hitting the nail on the head.
He thought that something had happened to George when he saw him standing still in place just now. Then, he was taken aback when he overheard someone confessing to Milly after he moved closer to George.
He had noticed all of Georgeâs strange behavior these past few days.
George liked Milly, but someone wanted to snatch Milly away. Danny knew that George would be furious.
Danny swallowed nervously and glanced up. Sure enough, Georgeâs expression was dark, and his eyes were filled with a murderous intent.
The Fitzgeralds project is over now. They might not even get to survive nowâ¦.
Luckily, Millyâs stance was strong. She rejected Ken repeatedly. This was the only reason George hadnât
gone on a rampage.
However, Danny found that it was a little funny and inappropriate for Geroge to continue eavesdropping.
Inside, Ken wasnât giving up. âCouldnât you give me a chance? Iâm tall and good at sports. Even my
academics arenât great, I can get into college on a sports scholarship. I really like you and Iâll be you. Can youâ¦?
Milly raised her hand to interrupt him. âStop! I need to make this clear. Iâve been engaged to someone since I was young. No matter what you say, I wonât betray my fiance!â
Danny noticed Georgeâs expression softened slightly when Milly mentioned the word âfianceâ.

Ken didnât believe it. âYouâre lying. You just went back to the Burnetts. Thereâs no way that youâre engaged already.â
He had investigated Millyâs background before pursuing her.
Milly raised an eyebrow. âWhy not? It was arranged when we were very young.
For some reason, Georgeâs image popped into her mind, making her feel oddly guilty.
She wondered if he would be angry if he found out she used him as a shield.
Ken didnât know who George was anyway. She could deal with that later. Besides, no one else was there except for the two of them.
