Ken clutched his face and looked at Jason in disbelief. It was the first time he had ever been hit. âDadâ¦â
âIm not your Dad! Youâre no longer my son if you donât apologize to Mr. Tate now!â Jason was firm.
He could tell that George had a soft spot for Milly. No wonder he had been waiting at the door without leaving.
If he couldnât get Ken to give up, the Fitzgeralds might as well file for bankruptcy first thing in the morning.
However, Ken, who was in his rebellious stage, didnât see it that way. Apologizing in front of the diva would make him die in embarrassment.
âI wonât do that!â He yelled and ran away.
âGet back here, brat!â
Jason tried to chase after him, but Ken was already out of sight.
At this point, Georgeâs eyes had turned cold, his earlier good mood was completely gone.
He was in a good mood because Milly had said that she liked him. It was a melody to his ears regardless of
the truth.
Now, he felt furious as someone was eyeing her.
Jason wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, instinctively knowing that what was about to happen would be unbearable.
He had to save the Fitzgeralds. He couldnât let his familyâs legacy end in his hands.
Suppressing his fear, Jason pleaded with George. âMr. Tate, itâs my fault for not raising that brat properly. Donât worry, Iâll send him abroad tonight to a boarding school where he wonât get to come back these few years! Heâll never bother this young lady again.â
It was strange. Even though he was two decades older than George, he was utterly crushed by his presence.
George coldly raised an eyebrow. âThese few years?â
Seeing Georgeâs dissatisfaction, Jason quickly added, âMr. George, itâs not an issue. During these years, Iâl! expand our market abroad and keep him there. If he insists on coming back, Iâll hire bodyguardsâno, special forces to follow him around. If he even thinks about approaching this young lady again, Iâll break his legs immediately, including his third one!â
The third leg too?
Milly was shocked at Jasonâs will to keep his family business,
It worked! Georgeâs expression improved significantly, and he nodded reluctantly. âMhm.â
To Jason, it sounded like music from the heavens.

was cold but caring.
Milly slung her backpack over her shoulder and tried to walk past him. âNo thanks. Iâll take a cab.â

Every time George spoke, she remembered those embarrassing statements she had made earlier. She wouldnât hold back and choke him to death if they stayed together.
She hadnât even started college or won any acting awards yet. She didnât want to go to jail before achieving those things.
Milly sighed in relief as George didnât stop her.
She hadnât walked far when she heard him say, âMr. Fitzgerald, does this room have surveillance cameras? Please send me a copy of the footage.â
Jason immediately responded, âYes, Iâll contact the securities right away.â
Milly stopped dead in her tracks. She bit her lip as she cursed George in her heart.
He was blatantly threatening her. By asking for the surveillance, he clearly intended to use it to show her grandpa and parents. She wouldnât be able to explain herself at all when that time came.
âAre you threatening me?â Milly turned to glare at him like an angry pufferfish.
George didnât seem to notice her anger, explaining as a matterâofâfactly, âAre you kidding me? The Tates and the Fitzgeralds are business partners. Understanding each otherâs operations and checking surveillance is a normal part of our cooperation. Right, Mr. Fitzgerald?â
Jason didnât dare disagree. He said while nodding furiously, âYes, exactly. You might not understand our business customs. Checking surveillance is a standard procedure before signing contracts.â
Milly was at a loss for words.
Liars!
Although she hadnât been a CEO, sheâd acted in many corporate dramas and worked in several companies. She knew enough to know that no one checked surveillance before signing contracts.
Do they think that Iâm an idiot?
George glanced at her and urged Jason, âMr. Fitzgerald, Iâm on a tight schedule and have a video conference coming up. Please get the surveillance footage quickly.â
âOf course, right away.â
Milly gritted her teeth and said, âTake me home instead of doing that.â
Since it was a free ride, why not enjoy it? It might be awkward, but itâs alright as long as Iâm not feeling embarrassed.
Georgeâs expression finally softened a bit.
Just then, he noticed the small gift box on the table. It was a long box, wrapped in oldâfashioned wrapping
paper.
Recalling Milly wishing Ken âHanny Birthdayâ just now, it wasnât hard to guess what this was.

A silver fountain pen was lying inside the box. It wasnât anything fancy. It looked plain and simple but he
wanted it.
Before he realized it, heâd already pocketed the pen and swapped it with the gold one he usually used to sign documents.
âYouâ¦â Milly frowned at his actions. âThat was Kenâs birthday gift!â
Georgeâs expression turned cold again. âYou gave it to him?â
Milly didnât even have the time to nod before Jason cut her off, âHaha, my son canât even write properly. Itâs a waste to give him a pen. Mr. Tate, you should keep it. That silver fountain pen suits you much better.â
Milly was speechless.
Even Danny, who had been standing silently aside, couldnât help but give a thumbs up.
Jasonâs flattery was amazing.
