A/N: lol sorry to bother you, but random shout out to xTheStitchLoverx , because she's one of my favorite readers. LOVE YOU GIRL â¤ï¸
Now on with the story.
"Sure you don't want anything?"
Gemma let's out a sigh, sitting on the couch with her laptop. "I'm fine. Just go."
I shrug my shoulders and adjust the cap on my head, with the words: I'm an eater, not a lover. The words were stitched beautifully onto the front of the cap. "Love you, Gemma. Love you, Mom," I shout loudly, as I exit the door.
I close the door behind me and make my way to the park, where a festival is taking place in 2 hours.
I've been waiting for Saturday to finally arrive so I can attend the Foodie's Fest. It usually happens twice every year. Ever since I was a little girl, I never missed one.
I take the opportunity to wear a pizza shirt and my favorite skinny jeans. Peach Reebok shoes cover my feet, and a black choker wraps around my neck.
I plug in my headphones and ignore the sounds around me, the only thing I'm listening to is my music.
As I finally reach the park, I notice people setting up everything. A few people arrived early like me, so I decide to help with the decorations.
"Set them right there," a lady says, ordering some of the employees that are holding boxes of food.
I slowly walk over to her. "Excuse me?"
She turns to me. "The merchandise section is over there," she immediately tells me, pointing to the direction.
"Uh, actually I would like to help with some of the things," I tell her awkwardly, adjusting the cap on my head.
"Oh," she says, looking at a clipboard in front of her. "You're attending the festival?"
I nod my head.
"Oh. So welcome to the festival, young lady," she tells me with a smile, giving me her hand to shake.
I shake her hand. "Thank you. I'm Opal, by the way."
"I'm Corina," she says. "Well, Opal, you could help Janet with the fast food balloons. She's over there."
I follow the direction where her finger pointed, and find someone tying a pizza balloon near a little stage that has been set up. Her pastel blue hair has been tied up into a messy bun. "Hello?" I ask, approaching her slowly.
She looks up at me, and I immediately notice the piercings on her face: one on her nose, and another on her lip. "How can I help you?"
I let out an awkward cough. "Uh, Corina said I could help with the balloons.. Are you Janet?"
"That's me," she replies. "Since you're here to help, can you start by grabbing a few burger balloons and tying them on the left side of the stage?" She gestures to the other side of the stage, then hands me three balloons.
She looks up at my cap and lets out a laugh. "Where'd you get that?"
I let out a smile. "My friend gave it to me for my birthday," I reply, taking the balloons from her hand.
"Ask her where she got it. I need one of them," she says, trying to take a closer look at it.
I let out a small laugh. "I'll make sure to ask when I see her," I tell Janet, as I make my way to the other side of the stage.

There's pieces of pink cotton candy around my mouth, but I don't really care. The festival finally started just a few minutes ago, and it's crowded as hell.
My new friend, Janet, walks around with me. We look at a few of the tents set up, grabbing all the food we see. "Girl, you look wild," Janet comments, giving me a weird look.
I touch my face. "Is it the cotton candy."
"Yes, it's the cotton candy," she laughs, quickly grabbing out her phone and taking a picture if me.
Music starts playing throughout the park, as people shout over each other. I hear Janet gasp. "Let's get the extra extra extra large fries," she says excitedly.
I glance at her. "I swear, after this whole thing is over, we're both gonna be fat," I laugh, following her to the tent.
Once we get there, we notice a some guy taking a long time to say what sauce he wants. I roll my eyes and tap his shoulder. "Hurry up, please. There's people behind you."
The stranger turns to me. "Well miss, if you don't mind, I'm still trying to decide if I want green ketchup or honey mustard," the person says in a calm manner.
I blink a few times. "Derek?"
Derek smirks at me. "The one and only."
"Oh, I can't believe you're here," I say, giving him a hug.
"It's food," Derek shrugs, and then turns around. "I would like honey mustard, please."
I watch the lady behind the table let out a sigh, as she grabs a cup and fills it with the sauce.
As Derek walks away with his fries, he turns to me. "Nathan is here too, by the way."
"Where?"
Derek shrugs his shoulders. "We came here together, but then he wondered off."
"Who's Derek and who's Nathan?" Janet finally asks, completely confused.
"My friends," I reply. "They both go to my school."
She nods her head and takes a step forward. "Well let's order some extra extra extra large fries."
~
Janet and I continue to wander around the festival with piles of food in our arms.
I immediately notice someone by the burger booth, and I rush over. "Princess!"
The young blonde girl turns to me, and her face lightens up. "Opal, oh my gosh you're here," Princess says happily, giving me a hug. I would hug her back if my arms weren't holding the fat that would soon be in my body.
Beside her is her little sister. "Hi, Robin," I tell her.
She smiles at me and gives me a small wave.
"Okay, so who are these people?" Janet asks me.
"My friends," I answer again. "They also attend my school, now."
"Damn, you got more friends than me," she mumbles beside me, and I just let out a laugh.
"Opal," I hear Derek's voice call out behind me. "Nathan is by the cupcake booth."
Derek makes his way over, and Princess takes a look at him. "Derek, you're in my physics group, right?" she asks him.
"Oh, you know my name," Derek mumbles, looking dazed.
I grab Janet's hand. "Well, I'm gonna look for Nathan. See you guys around," I tell them.
We begin looking for the cupcake booth, when Janet starts pointing at something. "That guy has the same shirt as you," she manages to say, for her mouth was currently stuffed with funnel cake.
She took my food too, so my arms are empty now.
I immediately look at the direction her finger is pointing, and see him. "That's Nathan," I say, squinting at the figure to make sure I'm right.
"Oh, then let's go," she says, pulling me along.
As we get closer, I slowly realize that this stranger is not Nathan. His shoulders weren't as broad and the face was definitely not his.
I stop in my tracks and hold onto Janet to make sure she stops, too. "What?" She asks, giving me a confused look.
"It's not him," I sigh.
"Oh," she says, and glances at something behind me. "Is this Nathan guy your boyfriend?"
My eyes widen. "No. No he's not," I quickly tell her.
"Don't lie, Minnie Mouse," I hear a familiar voice behind me.
I turn around, finding myself staring into those green eyes. I can't help but smile at how adorable he looks. His hair looks all messy and he's wearing a watermelon shirt.
"Hey, dumbass," I tell him with with a smile. I open my arms, and he gives me a hug.
Once we pull apart, Janet whispers in my ear:
"Damn that's one nice piece of meat," she whispers behind me. "I can take him off your hands if you want."
I almost laugh at her comment.
"This is Janet," I tell Nathan, pulling her to my side.
He winks at her. "I like your hair."
"Thanks," she says, playing with a few pastel blue strands.
I notice him holding a huge ice cream cone. What really caught my attention, was that it looked like a galaxy. "Nathan, where did you get that?"
He holds up the cone. "This? I got it from the tent over there."
He points somewhere behind him, but it's too crowded. "Can you show me where it is?"
He sighs and links his arm with mine, for some reason causing my heart to skip beats.
I try ignore it though, as he leads me through the crowds of people. Janet follows behind us.
"Here," he says, as we stand in front of a tent with a sign that reads: The Sweet Ice Glacier.
"Can I have two galaxy ice creams?" Nathan asks the woman before us.
She raises an eyebrow. "Aren't you holding one right now?"
"Uh it's not for me," Nathan replies. "It's for these ladies."
The woman nods her head, and pulls out two cones of ice cream from a small freezer. "Here you go. That will be 15 dollars."
Nathan pays, and we all walk away with a treat in our hands. I quickly turn to Janet. "Wait, where's our other food?"
She takes a lick of her ice cream. "I have my own tent, so I just quickly left them there. Relax."
I nod my head, and we all head to her tent. She sets up a few chairs, and we take a seat. I let out a sigh. "I'm not even full yet, but I'm so tired."
"Pig," Nathan comments, and I lightly slap his arm.
"Have you seen the spoons?" Janet asks out of nowhere, looking through a few of her bags.
"Nope," I reply.
She let's out a groan. "I'll go get some," she says, walking away from the tent.
While she's gone, Nathan and I continue eating our ice creams.
"I forgot to say this, but I like your outfit."
I look up at Nathan. "Oh thanks," I say, looking down at my pizza shirt. "It shows how fat I am."
Nathan let's out a laugh. "You're still beautiful either way."
Fuck. My heart is literally racing and I don't know why. He's staring at me now, but there's a smile on his face.
Quickly, I look away and stand up. "Uh, you want some extra extra extra large fries?" I ask awkwardly. Damn I sound stupid.
I look through a few bags on the table and quickly turn around.
My breath hitches to a stop when I realize Nathan is standing right in front of me, staring at me with those breathtaking eyes of his.
