"You're fucking hilarious," I mumble tiredly.
"Shut up, I'm being serious," Ruby chuckles. "Why is the sky blue?"
I let out a yawn. "If it wants to be, let the sky be fucking blue."
My sister lets out a chuckle as she shoves a pillow in my face. "Stop cursing."
I move the pillow away from my face. "I want food."
"And I want to go outside," she says, standing up from the bed and heading to the door. "I'll be at the park."
"Okay," I say, covering myself with my blanket again.
My phone rings, and I let out a tired groan. I pick it up and answer the call. "I will murder you for disturbing my slumber."
"You're so stupid," my older sister sighs into the phone. "Anyway, I called to tell you I'll probably be arriving there in two days."
"Okay. See you in two days, then. Love you, Gemma," I tell her.
"Hugs and kisses, my dear," Gemma says, before hanging up.
She's driving home from college to spend some time with the family. It's crazy that I'm starting college later this year.
Right now, it's the beginning of my summer break, and I'm trying to make it last as long as I can.
The door opens, revealing my mom. "Anak, do you want to see a doctor?"
I glance at her in confusion. "What for, Mom?"
"You've been in bed for almost three days now, Opal. I'm worried."
"Well don't be, I'm just tired," I reassure her. "Don't worry."
She lets out a long sigh. "Okay, but I'll be right back to check on you."
"Sure, Mom," I mumble tiredly.
I hear the door close and I shut my eyes, taking in the silence at last.
And then a loud knock is heard at my door.
"Fuck," I groan, as I stand up and stomp over to my door to open it. "Welcome to the depths of hell."
Nathan lets out a chuckle. He's wearing a plain gray shirt with his sweatpants. "I guess that explains why you're hot as hell."
I ignore the comment and make my way back to my bed, collapsing on my face. I wrap myself in my blankets and close my eyes.
"Minnie Mouse," he says, as he walks over to my bed. "Tell me why you've been in bed for two days."
"Three," I correct him.
"Tell me why you've been in bed for three days," he says.
I escape my covers to look at him. His shining green eyes stare at me expectantly.
"Nathan, school is over. I get to sleep in whenever I fucking want," I explain to him.
He grabs the sides of my face. "Love, you need to go outside for fresh air."
I raise an eyebrow as I smirk at his face. "We're calling each other 'love' now, huh?"
"Yep," he replies, a smirk now on his face as well. "You like it?"
I lean forward, causing his eyes to widen slightly. "I prefer Minnie Mouse."
In a few seconds, he licks his bottom lip and leans in for a kiss.
