James ultimately chose to stay with Tailsa. He had promised her he'd come back, and he didn't want her to overthink. Jay Johnson helped him into the villa.
When Tailsa saw James in such a state, she panicked and rushed to support him, asking anxiously,
"Brother, what happened? Why are you like this?"
"Don't ask. That little girl lost her mind and ran into the street. I tried to pull her back and got hit by a car," James explained honestly.
There was no point in making up excuses. If he got caught lying, Tailsa would only get suspicious. And with the bystanders threatening to post videos of the accident online, he didn't want any unnecessary complications.
"What? Are you seriously hurt? Where did you get hit?"
Seeing that James could barely stand, Tailsa was extremely worried and reached out to check his injuries.
James put a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from moving too much, and said with a smile,
"It's nothing major, just my leg isn't quite working. I'll be fine soon."
Tailsa was not convinced. "No, you need to go to the hospital for a check-up. Sometimes you might feel fine, but it could be serious."
James reassured her, "Don't worry, I should be better by tomorrow."
Tailsa, still anxious, said, "You can barely stand. Stop being stubborn, okay?"
Seeing the situation, Ms. Morgan stepped forward and said, "Mr. King, if you don't want to go to the hospital, I can call a private doctor."
Unable to argue with the two of them, James reluctantly agreed.
Private doctors are paid for their discretion, and they handle confidential information about their clients securely. Plus, they serve affluent patients and have excellent medical skills and professional knowledge.
Soon enough, the doctor arrived with three assistants, carrying various medical equipment. They conducted a full examination on James, diagnosing him with a minor fracture that required bed rest.
Consequently, James became quite the pampered lord in the villa. Everything he needed was handed to him, and he just had to voice his desires, and a group of people would cater to him.
Tailsa stayed by his side constantly, attending to his every need.
Due to his injuries, James spent most of his time lying down. Tailsa was exceptionally attentive, doing everything for him. Her sweet and gentle demeanor deeply moved James. He expressed his gratitude numerous times and shared many heartfelt words.
Unintentionally, Tailsa's favorability rating was boosted to 110. It showed that deep emotional bonds and a strong body were indeed the key to deepening relationships.
The next morning, Amanda arrived. She had seen Tailsa boasting about her new villa on social media and decided to come over to check it out.
She brought gifts and rang the doorbell of the villa.
When Winnie Morgan saw it was another one of the boss's women, she froze in place, hesitant to open the door, afraid Amanda would also burst in and cause trouble.
"Ms. Morgan, you're here too?" Amanda recognized the savvy woman and greeted her with a smile.
"Ms. Miller, what a coincidence, hahaha," Winnie Morgan forced a smile and reluctantly opened the door.
"Is Tailsa living here?" Amanda asked casually as she walked in.
"Uh..." Winnie Morgan was frantic inside, her mind racing.
Her boss and Tailsa were currently resting in the bedroom. If Amanda caught them, it could spell trouble, making her job insecure.
"Tailsa is ill. Maybe you could come back in a few days?" she suggested nervously.
"What? Tailsa is sick? What's wrong with her? Let me see her," Amanda said, speeding up her steps.
Winnie Morgan wanted to slap herself. She quickly rushed ahead to block Amanda, saying nervously,
"It's just a little cold, but it's contagious. Ms. Amanda, maybe it's better if you visit another day."
Amanda didn't barge in, but she noticed how flustered James's secretary seemed, and a suspicion formed in her mind.
With a sly smile, she asked, "Is James here too?"
Winnie Morgan froze at the question, unsure if Amanda was angry or not. She didn't dare to lie, but she also couldn't tell the truth.
"I'll call to check," she replied weakly.
"No need. I'll just go up and find them," Amanda said with a mischievous grin.
The thought of catching James and Tailsa red-handed in bed made her giddy with anticipation. Their expressions would be priceless.
"No, you can't go up there," Winnie Morgan insisted.
"And if I insist on going up?"
Winnie Morgan was on the verge of a meltdown.
In all her years of management experience, she had never dealt with a situation like thisâpreventing a primary partner from catching a suspected mistress.
To make matters worse, she had no information about the women in her boss's life and no contingency plan to handle something this explosive.
She was exhausted.
As Amanda moved closer to storming in like the girl from yesterday, Winnie Morgan nearly considered dropping to her knees and clinging to Amanda's leg to stop her.
At that moment, a voice called out from the third-floor balcony.
"Sis, what are you doing here?"
Winnie Morgan looked up and saw her boss stepping out onto the balcony, dressed in a bathrobe.
It was like seeing a beacon of hope. She stared at James with pure relief.
Amanda stopped in her tracks and looked at the man she'd been longing for, a wicked smile spreading across her face.
"Naughty little brother. Yesterday, you told me you liked me, and today you're sleeping with someone else."
"Hehe, sorry," James said, scratching his head with an awkward grin. "I'll come spend the night with you later."
Amanda, exuding charm, rolled her eyes at him. "Hmph, as if I care."
Winnie Morgan stood there with her mouth agape, stunned.
They know about each other?
Her boss was incredible.
These two women, both stunning and clearly of high caliber, didn't seem like the type to settle for being second to anyone. Surely they could find rich, eligible men with ease.
Yet, here they were, seemingly okay with sharing the same man.
Winnie Morgan was blown away, her admiration for her boss skyrocketing.
Amanda went upstairs and saw James limping toward her for a hug.
"What happened to you?" she asked, puzzled.
"It's nothing. I just got grazed by a car. A minor injury," James replied.
Tailsa emerged from the bedroom, now fully dressed.
She didn't expose James's lie, merely scolding him for moving around when he wasn't fully healed.
Amanda asked worriedly, "Why were you so careless? Have you seen a doctor?"
"Yeah, I did. I just need a few days of rest," James reassured her.
"Honestly, you're such a handful at your age. Do you know how much you worry people?"
Tailsa chimed in, "Exactly. Always trying to act tough. He even jumped from the third floor the other day like an idiot."
Amanda's jaw dropped. "What? Did you hurt yourself?"
"His foot was swollen for days," Tailsa said. "And now this."
"Brother, you can't keep doing this. What would we do if something happened to you?" Amanda was so scared that tears started to form in her eyes.
"Sorry, I just wasn't careful. Don't worry about me."
"You call this 'nothing'? Go lie down, now."
Amanda grabbed one of James's arms, while Tailsa took the other, and together they forced him back onto the bed.
"Brother, promise me you won't do anything stupid again, okay? I don't want to be a widow twice," Amanda said tearfully.
The emotional atmosphere got to Tailsa too, and her eyes reddened.
Seeing how worried they were, James felt deeply guilty.
He spent a long time comforting them, promising that nothing like this would ever happen again. Only then did they calm down.
By noon, Amanda cooked a pot of lean pork and vegetable porridge, feeding James spoon by spoon.
James complimented her cooking endlessly, finishing the entire pot and still feeling hungry.
His appetite had increased to five times that of an average person, so he was far from full.
Seeing this, Tailsa eagerly went to make another pot of porridge. She brought it over and began feeding him.
The taste was absolutely horrificâsweet, sour, bitter, and salty, all at once.
A simple century egg and pork porridge almost sent James to the grave.
Forcing a smile, James lied through his teeth, saying it tasted great. The system immediately rewarded him with +1 favorability points from Tailsa.
With tears in his eyes, James finished the porridge under her blissful gaze.
Afterward, he gently advised Tailsa to give up on learning to cook.
Instead, he suggested that she plan some travel itineraries so they could go sightseeing, enjoy nature, and live happily as carefree "little dummies."
Tailsa didn't notice anything amiss.
Inspired by his suggestion, she happily gave up on cooking.
