Chapter 128 An Angel
Upon hearing Audreyâs words, Catherine slowly raised her head and looked at her. She glanced at Audreyâs face indifferently. âYouâre not fat. You can eat some!â
As a makeup blogger, Audrey paid a lot of attention to skincare. Perhaps, she wasnât born as pretty as Catherine, but her skin was already well-maintained.
Catherineâs praise couldnât comfort Audrey at all. âKathy, you donât know about how the camera works. Iâm as heavy as you are, but my face looks a lot bigger than yours. I can only make myself look better on camera by constantly losing weight. If I can have a face as small as yours, I wonât have any worries then.â
Catherine had such a pretty face. No wonder Kim was desperate to sign her. She was really drop-dead gorgeous!
Admittedly, her beauty was beyond compare. While eating quietly, Catherine kept scrutinizing Audrey.
She used to think that Audrey spent the money she earned all on herself. Given that Audrey had bought so many clothes for her, Catherine figured that Audrey couldnât be a frugal woman.
Afterward, she found that Audrey actually was not generous with herself but with the people around her. She was even generous with Catherine, the sister she hadnât met for more than 10 years!
To make money, Audrey did suffer a lot. Catherine just couldnât help wondering whether it was worth it or not. After coming back to Audreyâs home from the restaurant, Catherine still didnât figure out the answer. She decided to discuss this with Ronin someday. Suddenly, Audreyâs cry broke into her thoughts.
âOh, my goodnessâ¦â
Audrey was astonished by the scene in front of her and couldnât help exclaiming. She subconsciously got away from the door and took a look at the door plate. After confirming that it was her apartment, she shifted her gaze to Catherine.
âKathy, did an angel come to my place? Catherine darted a slightly dismissive glance at her. âFairytales arenât for adults. If you insist on calling a housekeeper an angel, itâs fine by me.â
Audrey was really impressed by what Catherine had just done. She had hired housekeepers before, but they never did a satisfactory job. In the end, she stopped hiring housekeepers and did the cleaning herself.
The housekeeper Catherine hired this time was really amazing. Audrey hurriedly sprang at her and said, â Kathy, where did you hire the housekeeper? Give me her number. Iâll hire her later as well.â
Catherine had no idea. âI asked my friend to hire the housekeeper. I donât know her number, either!â
It happened that Audrey saw the statement on the table and figured that it should be left by the housekeeper. She immediately got excited.
âThereâs a bill. Iâll check it out myself!â
The moment she picked up the bill and saw the figure, Audrey almost passed out. âOh my gosh, Kathy! Are you sure itâs over 10,000 dollars instead of over 1,000 dollars?â
Catherine took a sip of the water and said casually, âCanât you understand the figure?â
Originally, Audrey wanted to hire such a housekeeper regularly, but as it appeared now, she couldnât afford one at all.
âKathy, how can you spend so much money hiring a housekeeper? This is too expensive. Is this a fraud? Give me your friendâs number. Iâll call the housekeeperâs agency.â
Catherine didnât resist. Since Audrey wanted to figure it out, Catherine just gave her the number. Catherine found Roninâs number on her phone and passed it to Audrey.
Audrey glanced at the contactâs name and made the call. She had prepared a speech to defend Catherine. In her eyes, Catherine must have paid the housekeeperâs fee with the card Audrey had given to her.
Since she had given the money to Catherine, it was Catherineâs money. She wouldnât care about how Catherine used it. Yet, the fact that she didnât care didnât mean that she had no problem with getting ripped off by a fraud.
After the call was put through, a young voice came from the phone. âBoss, what can I do for you?â
âThis is Audrey.â
Ronin was dazed to hear Audreyâs voice and said anxiously, âHow come youâre holding my bossâs phone? Is there anything wrong with her?â
As he got nervous at once, Audrey hastened to explain, âNo. Iâm calling to ask you about the housekeeperâs fee. Do you thinkâ¦â
Before she finished saying, she was interrupted by Ronin.
âOh, the housekeeper? Are you satisfied?â
âYes!â The apartment was so perfectly cleaned, which Audrey was quite satisfied with.
As soon as she replied, Ronin also responded right away, saying, âGood thing that youâre satisfied. Then, Iâll tell the housekeeper to do the cleaning every week.â
After knowing that Catherine would stay at Audreyâs place for a while, Ronin made all the arrangements well in order to let Catherine enjoy her stay there.
âEvery week?â Audrey raised her voice right away. The cleaning service would cost more than 10,000 dollars per time. If the housekeeper came and offered the service every week, it would cost 50,000 or 60,000 dollars per month.
How could she afford that?
âNo, no, no, we donât need it. Mr. Oconnor, we canât afford it! We can accept one housekeeping service per month and hope that you can help us get a discount.â
As the housekeeper came to clean the apartment after Catherineâs call, Audrey thought Catherineâs friend was the owner of a housekeeping company.
That was why she said so to Ronin.
[10:42 pm, 30/09/2023] Nothing: Hearing Audreyâs words, Ronin felt totally at sea. âDiscount? No need to get a discount. Iâll get everything arranged for you. Is once per week not enough? How about twice every week?â
No need to get a discount?
Audrey seemed to realize what he meant and then said in a daze, âAre you saying that we donât have to pay?â
âOf course, you donât need to!â
Certainly, Catherine didnât have to pay for the housekeeping. Ronin could directly send the housekeeping staff of the company there. It was not that he wanted to use their own staff to save trouble.
Instead, their housekeeping staff was strictly selected, with only those who could suit Catherineâs requests the most. He would not feel reassured about other people.
Nothing: âThen, why did the housekeeper leave the bill?â Audrey asked carefully.
âOh, the bill? Itâs for accounting. Just throw it away.â
Hearing Roninâs causal voice, Audrey felt that she shouldnât communicate with him. She decided to hang up the phone first.
After hanging up, Audrey came to Catherine with a surprised expression.
âKathy, is this friend very close to you?
For her, Ronin was like a student and a brother. They were close indeed. Seeing that Catherine nodded, Audrey couldnât help asking further, âDo you know him for a long time? And your friend is very rich?â
She had known Ronin for years. Ronin was in charge of many departments of the company. He was dealing with many businesses.
He could acquire lots of dividends. Although he didnât earn as much as she did, compared with ordinary people, he was rich indeed. So, Catherine nodded again.
Since Ronin had no problems paying the housekeeping fee of a few ten thousand dollars per month to a friend, he must be rather rich.
Audrey could be sure of that.
âKathy, is he a friend you knew in the countryside?â
âUmm?â As she kept asking, Catherine couldnât help asking, âAny problem?â
Audrey grinned. âNo. I just feel that the countryside is quite nice. I also want to sojourn there and make more friends!â Catherine didnât know what to say.
