Chapter 454 Sheâs Back
The next day, Catherine went to the homeroom teacher and reported back after a leave of absence before returning to the classroom.
When she reached the door of the classroom, David was the first one to notice her. Only he wasnât sleeping while the other students were leaning in low spirits over their desks lifelessly. The moment he saw Catherine, David was a bit stunned and then rubbed his eyes in disbelief.
âAm I dreaming? Catherine is back?â
He pinched himself in secret. Because he did it too hard, he grimaced in pain. It was then that he was sure that Catherine had come back indeed.
He hurriedly reached out to push Bryan, who was sleeping soundly aside. Bryan was resting at this moment. Disturbed by David, he flew into a rage and then snapped without raising his head, âWho is it? Do you have a death wish?â
His cold voice sent David a chill down his spine. He hastened to explain, â Bryan, Catherine is backâ¦â
Bryan was dumbstruck and then asked coldly, âWho?â
âWho else can it be? Of course itâs Catherine!â
After David finished speaking, Ronin stood up at once before Bryan could react.
Catherine had arrived around them at this moment. Ronin went forward with excitement. âCatherine, youâre finally back.â
Seeing Ronin running in her direction, Catherine reached out her arm to distance herself from him.
It was then that Ronin realized that he had overacted and almost pissed off Catherine.
Just as well Catherine didnât attack him. Otherwise, he would have been taken to the hospital.
Apart from Ronin, the other students all fixed their eyes on Catherine. Catherine had been away for almost one month. Everyone thought she wouldnât come back.
They thought she would leave without warning, just like her sudden transfer to this school. Unexpectedly, Catherine just showed up all of a sudden, startling the students of Class 8.
Catherine stood aside with her arms around her chest, looking down at all with slightly narrowed eyes.
âYou seem to be doing well here. The graduation exam is around the corner. Youâre all sleeping instead of studying.â
Faced with Catherineâs criticism, Bryan and the others all felt guilty and didnât dare to talk back. They all kept their heads lowered.
Since Catherine asked for leave, they had felt that life in the classroom was rather tedious.
Besides, as the graduation exam was approaching, everyone was soaked in a dreary atmosphere.
Ronin knew best about Catherineâs temper. He knew that she didnât really mean to reprimand them. He went forward fawningly, pulled Catherineâs chair out, and invited her to her seat.
âCatherine, hurry and take a seat. While you were away, I wiped your desk and chair every day. Theyâre definitely clean.â
Catherine arched her brows and shot Ronin a glance in surprise. She thought as she got leave from school, Ronin would ask for leave too. After all, Ronin went to school for fun. She didnât expect that he would come to class every day.
It appeared that Ronin was interested in school.
The originally dull Class 8 came back to life due to Catherineâs return. The students all burst into an uproar with excitement.
Liana stared in the direction of Catherine with deep hatred in her eyes. She thought that Catherine could never come back. However, Catherine was back now. Liana thought, âWhy does she keep showing up?â
While Catherine was not around, she finally had a chance to breathe.
Korbin was so busy dealing with the companyâs affairs that he barely came home while Rachael stayed in the Langs â. Now, only she lived in the Swannsâ.
This made her feel like she was back in the past when she lived like a princess served by all servants at home.
Because of Catherineâs reappearance, Liana felt rather uneasy as if something would change again. After school, Ronin insisted on having dinner with Catherine. Bryan wanted to go along too.
Catherine hadnât seen them for a while indeed. So, she decided to invite them all to dinner and proposed going to Tristonâs barbecue restaurant. It happened that the restaurant was nearby.
Others were all fine with that. So, they went to the barbecue restaurant together.
When they got to the barbecue restaurant, Ronin thought of one thing.
âCatherine, while you were not around, I noticed that Audrey seemed to be close to Triston the playboy. Do you think we should teach him a lesson?â
Ronin was young and simple. He believed that one should be loyal in a relationship.
Ronin hated playboys like Triston most. It was fine to make friends with Triston, but Ronin wouldnât allow him to have designs on Audrey.
After all, Audrey was Catherineâs sister, which made her his sister too. Audrey was an innocent girl. How could he allow a playboy like Triston to get his hands on her?
Catherine wasnât surprised at all to hear Roninâs report. She looked calm and composed. Ronin felt a bit confused. âCatherine, why arenât you angry at all? Triston dares to have designs on Audrey!â
Catherine raised her eyebrows and looked at him.
âAudrey is a grownup.â
Catherine had made her stance clear.
Audrey was a grownup, who could judge between right and wrong. She didnât need Catherine to worry about her. Now that Catherine didnât want to interfere, Ronin couldnât do anything to Triston though he was disgruntled.
After being silent for a few seconds, Catherine suddenly said, âSometimes, things are not what you see!â
Stunned a bit, Ronin suddenly felt that Catherineâs words sounded somewhat unfathomable. Was Audreyâs relationship with Triston not that simple? Or was Triston not as simple as he seemed to be?
Catherine had started to eat. Ronin didnât dare to ask further.
After all, it wasnât Catherineâs business. He wouldnât pay much attention to it.
Before they finished eating, Catherineâs phone suddenly rang. Ronin knew that it couldnât be an ordinary person who could get through to Catherine.
It was Leonel, who had been working for Catherine at the Swann Corporation. He was the talent left by Vicente to Catherine.
âMiss Swann, youâre back in Casier, right?â
When she left Casier, she had informed Leonel, but she didnât tell him about her return. Yet, she wasnât surprised that Leonel knew that she was back. She didnât conceal her whereabouts. It wasnât hard to find out where she was.
âYes!â Catherine replied.
âIs it convenient for you to come to the office now?â
Catherine was aware of Leonelâs character. If not for important matters, he wouldnât call her.
âOkay. Iâll be there in half an hour!â
Catherine gave a concise reply.
After hanging up, Catherine finished her meal and directly stood up.
Ronin immediately got up considerately. âCatherine, just go. Leave here to me!â
Meanwhile, Ronin passed his key over. âThe car is at the door.â
Catherine took the key and turned around to leave.
