Chapter 756 Come with Me
Regan looked at Jotham with a puzzled expression, seemingly very surprised by his sudden appearance. âJotham, why did you come all of a sudden? Did something happen outside?â Seeing her uninjured, Jotham felt relieved. â Itâs nothing. I just saw a maintenance sign hanging on the restroom door, and I was worried that something might have happened to you, so I came to check on you,â he replied.
Ever since Jotham took Regan away from the Duncans, he had been taking good care of her, never leaving her side. Even when they attended events, his gaze always followed her. When he saw the maintenance sign on the restroom door shortly after Regan entered, he found it strange. He rushed over immediately, concerned that something might have happened to her.
Regan smiled gently at Jotham. â
Jotham, youâre always so nervous. Look, Iâm perfectly fine, and thereâs nothing unusual in the restroom. Maybe itâs just a coincidence that they need to do some repairs.â
To avoid further questioning from Jotham, Regan suggested leaving. Always obedient to Reganâs requests, Jotham left the restroom with her.
Regan proposed taking a walk in the back garden, and she politely declined Jothamâs offer to accompany her. â Donât you have something to discuss with the Alliance Leader later?â
The full name of Florona was the Republic Alliance of Florona, and the highest commander here was known as the Alliance Leader. The Alliance Leader and Jotham had been good friends for many years, and Jotham had come to the flower appreciation event today to discuss matters with him.
Jotham hesitated. âButâ¦â
âNo worries,â Regan gently interrupted. âJotham, donât forget that this is Florona. With my status on the island, no one dares to touch me. I wonât go far, just taking a breather in the back garden. You know I donât like these kinds of occasions.â
Regan was born into a top-tier aristocratic family, surrounded by various daily social events. Her life was never lacking in such banquets, and whenever she appeared, she would become the center of attention. Perhaps due to her extensive participation in such events during the first half of her life, she now found them quite irritating. If it werenât for Jothamâs business with the Alliance Leader today, she wouldnât have wanted to attend the event at all.
Hearing this, Jotham looked at her apologetically. âIâm sorry. I shouldnât have made you come with me.â
âSilly, donât say that. You go take care of your business. Weâll go back together later,â Regan responded.
Seeing her smile, Jotham felt deeply satisfied. He tenderly replied, âAlright.â
Catherine and Amos finished their discussion before arriving at the back garden. There was still half an hour left, and if she didnât leave in that time, she was sure that Branden would rush here regardless of everything. She patiently sat on the tree, waiting until that slender figure finally appeared.
Regan shook off her entourage and came to the back garden entrance, waiting for quite some time without seeing the waitress from earlier. Her brows furrowed, a hint of displeasure on her face. âHas the waitress left?â
she asked inwardly. Just as she wondered, a cold voice suddenly came from above.
âAre you looking for me?â With that, a figure dropped from the tree. Regan then saw a veiled woman standing in front of her. Though half of her face was covered, it couldnât hide her beautiful features and the air of elegance that radiated from her.
âWho are you, and whatâs your relationship with the Duncans?â Regan questioned.
âI am Brandenâs fiancée.â Catherine openly admitted her identity.
âBrandenâs fiancée?â Regan clearly doubted Catherineâs identity, carefully scrutinizing her, trying to discern something.
Knowing that Regan wasnât convinced, Catherine took out her phone and displayed it before Regan. The phoneâs screensaver showed a photo of her and Branden, which he had changed when she wasnât paying attention. After Branden set it as the screensaver, she was too lazy to alter it and has used it ever since.
Regan looked at the handsome figure on the screen, momentarily losing her composure. Although she had left Branden when he was still very young, as his mother, she immediately recognized her son. Branden had inherited all the best features of her and her ex-husband, making him their most perfect union.
Regan looked at Catherine with a hint of excitement, her lips trembling uncontrollably. âAre you really Brandenâs fiancée? How did you end up here?â
âDo you want to see Branden?â Catherine asked.
This question left Regan at a loss. She parted her lips, but in the end, she remained silent. Over the years, she had thought about seeing her son, but she had always believed that she would never have the chance in her lifetime. Now, suddenly, a girl claiming to be her sonâs fiancée appeared before Regan, saying she wanted to let Regan see her son. Regan honestly didnât know how to respond.
Catherine, seeing her hesitation, decided to lay it all out. âI came here for Brandenâs sake. He found out you were in Florona, and he wants to see you one time. If youâre willing, I can take you away.â
Regan found it somewhat unbelievable. When she came to Florona, she knew there was no way she could leave this place. This girl, looking not so young, was boldly claiming to take her away, which seemed like a pipe dream.
Regan scrutinized Catherine and then said seriously, âI donât know how you got here, but if you really are Brandenâs fiancée, I will find a way to ensure your safe departure.â She thought that with the relationship between Jotham and the Alliance Leader, perhaps there was a chance for this girl to leave the island.
As for Regan, she could only stay on the island for the rest of her life, as that was the agreement she made when she first arrived here.
Catherine grew impatient. âYou donât need to worry about all that. Just tell me, do you want to see Branden?â
âIâ¦â Regan didnât know how to respond.
Catherine couldnât afford to give her more time. She suddenly reached out and grabbed Reganâs arm. âCome with me!â With that, she forcefully pulled Regan into the car.
Regan didnât resist, and when she tilted her head, she saw Jotham and his men chasing after them.
As the car got further away, Jothamâs figure became increasingly blurry until it disappeared. Regan anxiously leaned against the window and said to Catherine, âStop the car and let me go back. I will explain to Jotham. I wonât cause you any trouble. Trust me.â
âHumph!â Catherine sneered.
The truth was, no one could cause Catherine any trouble. Since she had come here, she couldnât leave empty- handed. Branden had already arrived at Snake Island, and she was taking Regan to see him, leaving the rest for them to decide.
