Chapter 941 We Are Friends
Catherine followed Thomas to Aaronâs courtyard, where they found Aaron and Rylan playing chess. Thomas recognized Rylan and glanced at Catherine. âWhat is he doing here?â
Catherine casually replied, âHeâs the ungrateful grandson Aaron mentioned. Thomas frowned, surprised by this unexpected connection.
Upon hearing Catherineâs words, Aaron laughed. âMiss Swann is right; this is my ungrateful grandson.â He then urged Rylan to give up his seat to Thomas.
âPlease have a seat, Mr. Theo,â said Rylan as he stood up.
Thomas sat down and glanced at Catherine, who said, âIâll take a stroll. Aaronâs courtyard is lovely.â
The courtyard, meticulously tended for generations, exuded charm in every detail, which Catherine appreciated.
âDo you like this courtyard?â A deep, gentle voice came from behind her, quite pleasant.
Catherine turned to Rylan. âIt feels very comfortable to be here,â she replied.â
Rylan agreed, âI like it too.â
As Catherine quietly strolled and admired the scenery, Rylan stood nearby, silently watching her. After a while, Catherine grew tired and sat down. A servant brought her a cup of coffee and some snacks. The fragrant coffee and delightful snacks provided a pleasant break.
âCare to join me for a cup of coffee?â she asked.
Catherineâs invitation caught Rylan off guard. A faint smile graced his face as he took a seat opposite her.
Catherine raised an eyebrow, asking, â Why do you look so surprised?â
Rylan honestly admitted, âI thought youâd despise me. I didnât expect you to invite me for coffee.â
Catherine chuckled. âWe are friends, and you havenât done anything wrong. Why should I despise you?â Her simple words left Rylan speechless.
It was only after a long while that Rylan finally broke the silence. âIs everything okay?â
âYeah, Iâm perfectly fine,â she replied.
Rylanâs voice was barely audible as he murmured, âThatâs good.â
Catherine didnât respond, quietly enjoying her coffee and the beautiful scenery.
Later, while having dinner with Thomas, Catherine received a call from Withal. âCatherine, Ronin has filled you in, right?â
âYes,â Catherine replied calmly, showing no change in expression. âAny updates?â
Withal replied, âYes, I found something. Do you want to take a look?
Catherine then ordered him to email the information and promptly ended the call.
Thomas, noticing the abrupt ending of the call, remarked, âDidnât you plan to rest for half a day? Now youâre back to work?â
Catherine nodded, remaining silent.
Thomas complained to Aaron, âYoung people donât take care of themselves. I told her to rest for half a day, but here she is, thinking about work again!â
Aaronâs eyes darkened as he sighed. Itâs true. They never take care of themselves.â
Rylanâs eyes darkened at these words.
