As she hung up the jacket and turned around, she heard the sound of the door lock turning.

Then the door swung open, revealing a handsome man dressed in a crisp white shirt and black trousers.
He gazed at her intently from the doorwayâ¦
Nanxi stood there, completely flustered.
However, Lu Yinchu seemed as composed as ever.
He swept his eyes up and down her body, then gave a light chuckle.

Should she thank him?!
Lu Yinchu turned his head towards the person behind him.
âBring me my breakfast!â he ordered.
Nanxi drew a sharp breath.
It turned out that there were servants trailing behind Lu Yinchu.

Lu Yinchu took his breakfast and strode in.
Nanxi instinctively backed away, but Lu Yinchu didnât seem to mind.
He kept on walking in, and then, without any hesitationâ¦

Nanxi stood still, and shot an annoyed glance at Lu Yinchu.
âWhyâd you close the door?â she asked.
âDo you enjoy being watched while you eat?â he replied.

Okay, point taken â she had no interest in that either!
Lu Yinchu chuckled and ruffled her hair with one hand.

Suddenly, she felt as though she couldnât breathe properly!
She called out, âMr.
Lu â¦â
âShush!â Lu Yinchu silenced her, âLetâs eat first and talk later!â
With that, he held the breakfast tray in one hand and took her hand with the other, leading her to the sofa.
The sensation of being wrapped in his palm made Nanxi slightly uncomfortable.
She tried to break free, but to no avail.
Lu Yinchuâs voice, sounding slightly cold, reached her ears, âStop squirming.
Letâs eat first, my grandfather will be up soon!â
Nanxi gritted her teeth and glared fiercely at Lu Yinchu â how dare he use grandfather as his trump card!
Lu Yinchu placed the breakfast on the coffee table, then pulled Nanxi down to sit next to him.
âYou start eating first,â he said.
âIâll go downstairs to see if grandfather is up.â
Without waiting for her to reply, he was already heading towards the door, without any hint of hesitation or reluctance!
Nanxi eyed the beautifully presented and nutritionally balanced breakfast on the table.
She swallowed hard, and eventually couldnât resist her bodyâs cravings.
She started eating!
Meanwhile, outside, Lu Qingtian had just woken up.
Spotting Lu Yinchu leaning against the corridor wall, puffing on a cigarette, Lu Qingtian rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasnât seeing things!
Holy cow!
Was her dreamy elder brother back home?
When did he get back?
How had she not known about this?!
âBrother-â Lu Qingtian bounded over excitedly, as though she were seeing her favourite boy-band member!
Lu Yinchu sidestepped her attempt to throw herself onto him.
He lifted her up and put her aside, saying, âDid you sleep well?â
Lu Qingtian responded, âNo, Iâm sleepwalking!â

Inside the room, after finishing her breakfast, Nanxi went to wash her hands.
Then, holding the leftover food, she headed downstairs.
In the lower lounge, everyone was present apart from Grandpa Lu.
Lu Qingtian was having breakfast!
Lu Qingtian saw Nanxi and jumped up from her meal in surprise.
âOh, Sister-in-law!
When did you arrive?â she cried.
ââ¦â Nanxi offered an awkward smile before replying, âLast night!â
âOh!â Full of bewilderment, Lu Qingtian nodded, then asked, âWhere did you sleep last night?â
âUmâ¦â The woman beside her, Xia Zhen, quickly grabbed Lu Qingtian and forced her back into her seat before saying sharply, âJust eat your food, why do you have to ask so many questionsâ¦â
Lu Qingtian pouted, feeling somewhat wronged.
She was just curious!
In the distance, Nanxi, who was holding a dinner plate, blushed at their words.
She could barely hide the mixture of emotions welling up inside her!
Yet, at seventeen, Lu Qingtian was old enough to understand certain things.
Despite being slightly slow on the uptake, she continued eating breakfast, her head bowed, until finally, she smacked the table and exclaimed, âI get it!
Sister-in-law slept with my brother last night!â
âCrash-â In the distance, Nanxi, who was about to hand over the breakfast plate to a servant, dropped it in shock when she heard Lu Qingtianâs words.
It shattered!
It was quite the scare!
As Nanxi stooped to pick up the broken pieces, a pair of hands swiftly stopped her.
âDonât move, you might cut yourself!â
Almost instantaneously, she felt herself being lifted from the ground.
Before she could figure out what was happening, she found herself cradled in a warm, sturdy embrace.
Lu Yinchu had scooped her up!

Off to the side, Lu Qingtian blinked, about to say something when Xia Zhen, her gaze fierce, forced her back onto her chair, her eyes silently warning her â if she dared to say another word, she wouldnât get a cent of her allowance this month!
Lu Yinchu carried Nanxi to the sofa and sat her down before examining her hands and feet, asking if she was hurt.
Nanxi was a little embarrassed â she wasnât that fragile!
He was being overly dramatic!
A servant had, meanwhile, begun to clear the shattered pieces from the floor.
Feeling guilty, Nanxi apologized, âIâm sorryâ¦
I didnât do it on purpose.â
She thought about the plate sheâd just smashed; it looked rather unique and probably wasnât cheap.
Should she offer to replace it?
âBe more careful next time!â
Lu Yinchuâs voice was laden with anger, making Nanxi feel almost on the brink of tears.
That was harsh!
âWhat will we do if you get hurt?â Lu Yinchu added.
ââ¦â Nanxi was taken aback by his swift change in attitude!
Meanwhile, Xia Zhen managed to make Lu Qingtian finish her breakfast swiftly with just one glare.
Xia Zhen then dragged her out of the house â it was time for school!
Nanxi felt embarrassed as Lu Yinchu checked her hands and legs repeatedly!
It felt strange, the two servants were watching with smiling eyes.
However, Nanxi found their smiles somewhat unsettling!
Nanxi interjected, âIâm okay; you can sit down!â
Lu Yinchu pulled his hands back and sat down next to Nanxi.
She caught an almost palpable sense of relief in him.
He broke the silence with, âIt seems grandfather had insomnia yesterday.
He woke up late today.
We might have to wait awhile!â
âThatâs alright!â
Nanxi did her best to look well-behaved and understanding!
Xia Zhen returned soon after, seeing Nanxi and Lu Yinchu sitting together.
She felt a rush of delight.
Approaching them, she said, âNanxi, donât mind Qingtian.
She simply says whatever comes to her mind without giving much thought.

Nanxi just smiled, âNo worries, I understand.â

There were so many skipped chapters yesterday that it made me cringe!
