Emerson POV
"Someone was staring from over there." I said to Carter my body came to a stop as I tried to see if anyone was at the tree line.
I was waiting for a reply but I guess she passed out after our last conversation.
Guess I'm on my own for now.
I shrugged and got off the platform of the train station and looked around before getting on a path and began walking down the path.
At least didn't feel the stares on me anymore but then again they're either watching the massive group rather than me or I'm going to die a horror movie character death.
I continued to walk down the path and decided to take the train conductor's advice and admired the view the forest.
The tense feeling wasn't completely gone but it was gone enough to where you could enjoy the view, the forest, and the cold air.
The paper says the trail should directly take us to the academy I don't know if we have a time limit to get there or anything but I assume we don't as we were literally left in the woods by the train conductor.
The path seemed to be run down, the trees within the forest were old ones, the clouds seemed to get a deeper shade of blue, and the air got colder as I walked.
The forest was all and all different from what forests I was used to and so was the weather but nothing I couldn't handle.
I continued to walk until I heard a yawn echo through my head, Carter was awake.
"Where are we?" She asked tired.
"On a path to the academy." I answered as she sighed.
"Are we close?" She asked as I shrugged.
"I'm not sure to be honest. I've been on the path for awhile and still nothing." I said truthfully as she suddenly stopped talking.
"We're close." She said.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Because I can smell the dead plus look in front of you." She said as I looked in front of me to see the path getting wider and you guessed it the gates of the academy.
"Looks like we made it." She said and I nodded in agreement as I looked at the open gates in front of me and the sign on the side of it.
