Chapter 23: Outside Encounter

Her Little WolfWords: 2002

Emerson POV

"So why are we outside again?" I asked as I stepped over some branches.

"Well you're a wolf right that means you have to get used to the terrain of this place, right?" She asked.

"Well yeah I do now that you mention it." I mumbled as I began looking around.

The air was cold once again but I found out that's normal for vampire territory from Taylor. But the one thing that set me off was the silence.

It was too quiet for a forest.

"That's because someone's coming, and they're fast." Carter warned interrupting my thoughts as I began to hear shuffling from all around us.

Vampires.

"Now what do we have here?" A voice asked as I spotted blue eyes within the trees.

But that one wasn't the one who spoke.

I could hear more than one heat beat. They're were four heartbeats present meaning there were two extra people and I was looking right at one of them.

"Piper leave us alone." Taylor said as I looked for the other voice spotting a shadow moving around the trees.

"I'm not doing anything Taylor I'm just asking a question. I mean what is a vampire like yourself doing with a mutt?" The voice asked.

"What did she just call us?" Carter asked growling as I kept my calm demeanor even with the angered wolf in my head.

"I mean look at you getting all buddy-buddy with the enemy. Are you betraying our race Taylor? Are you a traitor?" The voice continued to speak now trying to hurl insults at both of us.

"If you're looking to anger me I would refrain from the childish insults." I said calmly which caused the shadow to stop and the blue eyes continue starring at me.

"Now if you'll excuse us we will be going now. Maybe next time you can actually come up with useful things to say rather than child-like insults." I said grabbing her hand and leading her away but I stopped for a moment to glance at the pair of blue eyes that seemed to still be on me.

"Emerson let's go the other one isn't too happy right now." Carter said breaking me from the eye contact as I walked away with Taylor.
