Emerson POV
"Do you just eat fruit?" Taylor asked as she watched me eat my strawberries.
"Woman why do you hate on my fruit?" I asked as she gave me a look.
"I don't hate on fruit I hate on the fact that you never eat meat from the school I mean I'm pretty sure getting attacked by your own people has proven that food poisoning is the least of your problems." She said as I just stared at her keeping eye contact as I ate my fruit.
"They were not my people. They are my species yes. But not my people my people are the people within my pack." I corrected her as she playfully rolled her eyes.
"You know what I meant." She said making me chuckle as we ate in silence before she stared at something behind me.
"What are you staring at?" I asked curious as she turned her attention to me.
"The people who did that to you are staring at us." She said as I turned around to see Connor's little goons looking directly at us.
I sighed and looked away from them. It had been a couple of days since they got out of detention and a week since the incident so it's normal for them to stare.
"I don't have a good feeling about the look they're giving you Emerson." She whispered as I shook my head.
"They're probably upset I got them in trouble." I said shrugging it off which made Taylor turn her attention back to her food.
"Plus I have you. You'll protect me right?" I asked jokingly as she chuckled and nodded.
"Damn right I'll protect my best friend." She said with a smile which made us both laugh at one another's words.
I smiled and glanced over my shoulder to see them grinning at me. I knew they were planning something but I couldn't drag Taylor down with me.
I sighed and turned my attention back to Taylor who now has her mind off the whole situation.
