“I know you.” Nian Qingyun who had met Jiang Yuning came out of the crowd, looked at Jiang Yuning in a complicated way and said, “Why are you two together again?”

“He is Jiang Yuning, a physicist,” said Nian Qingyun unhappily. “The one who caused a scene in France last year.”

“Oh, him.” Murong Cheng figured it out. She remembered trying to talk her daughter into giving up on being with the boy. She even bought Nian Xi a dog for that purpose. The dog’s name was Jiang-jiang.

“A scientist,” said Grandma Nian, nodding delightedly. “I’m surprised our Xi is with a scientist. Good, good. Our ancestors must have been blessing the Nian Family. We’ve never raised a scientist yet.”

Nian Junlei clucked his tongue and said, “He doesn’t look like a scientist. Xi, I thought all scientists spend their lives in labs without knowing about the outside world.”

“How can you say that?” Grandma Nian said to him. “Show some respect to the scientist. This is the first time that I, your mother, am seeing a living scientist.”

“Like you’ve seen a dead scientist?” Nian Qingyung quipped.

“Yeah. I’ve seen them in textbooks.”

The others didn’t know how to respond to that.

Nian Xi glanced at the confused Jiang Yuning, then started introducing him to her family.

“This is my grandmother.”

“Grandma, nice to meet you.” Jiang Yuning hurriedly greeted Grandma Nian with a gentle voice.

“This is my grandfather.”

“Grandpa, nice to meet you.”

Nian Xi introduced every member of her family, from the oldest to the youngest.

Nian Qingyun remembered what happened when he saw Jiang Yuning last time, so when Nian Xi introduced him, he hurriedly said to Jiang Yuning, “Don’t call me father. I’m not your father.”

Jiang Yuning blinked his eyes and said, “You are surely not my father now. Xi and I haven’t gotten married yet. Uncle Nian, good to see you.”
