Mo Liuxiâs mouth was twitching. From the rearview mirror, he could see the little guy sprawled out on Yan Suâs chest. He wanted to throw him out the window.
He finally understood why Nian Junting wasnât so enthusiastic about him.
Upon reflection, he shouldnât have been so picky when he met Nian Junting.
If he were more compassionate, he would have treated him more compassionately as well.
âJin is getting chubbier, though. You look so cute. I like you even more now.â Yan Su hugged him tightly and kissed him on his cheeks. âTell me what you want Jin. Iâll buy you anything you want.â
âSister, youâre the best!â Yan Jin climbed onto her shoulder and whispered into her ear, âSister, are you trying to find Yan Yan a father?â
Yan Su, â...â
Yan Jin appeared worried. âSister, donât be like this. Good-looking guys arenât trustworthy. Ma always talks about how worried she is that you might be whisked away again by some gorgeous guy.â
Yan Suâs head throbbed, and she said, âJin, I know youâre worried about me, but weâre just having dinner tonight. Donât read too much into it. Youâre too little now. You wonât understand either.â
Yan Jin copied her and sighed as well, âItâs troubling to have an older sister as well; Iâm always worried you might be fooled.â
â...â
Sometimes, she couldnât believe he was her little brother.
Mo Liuxi turned to her and said, âNo wonder heâs your brother. You both know about romantic relationships and eloping in high school.â
Yan Su regretted asking him out to dinner. Sigh...It was going to be a long night!
...
When they got to the restaurant, Yan Su asked worryingly, âDo you think Nuanyi is eating here too?â
âThey probably went to Quan Jude, not here,â Mo Liuxi explained. âThere are a lot of Peking duck shops in Beijing now that are comparable to Quan Jude. This place has a good ambiance, and itâs quite private as well.â
He got out of the car, and Yan Su carried Yan Jin out. The restaurant design was a traditional courtyard with several expensive cars parked outside. It wasnât a place the general public would know about. âHow do you know about this place?â
âMy friend recommended it to me; heâs a local here.â Mo Liuxi put on his scarf and walked in. It was already snowing in Beijing and there was a chill in the air.
Yan Su put on a mask, a scarf, and a beanie on Yan Jin to make sure he didnât catch a cold.
When they walked in, the waitress brought them to a private room. The snow was starting to accumulate outside, and Yan Jin ran to the engraved window to look out at the scenery. âSister, this looks like our backyard.â
Hmm. Yan Suâs family must be well to do, Mo Liuxi thought raising his brow.
âJin, come over here. What would you like?â Yan Su waved at him.
âPeking duck. I want to have lots of Peking duck. And lamb chops, steak, pork chops too! With chili, of course. I love them all,â Yan Jin chirped happily clapping his hands.
âAh, quite a carnivore,â Mo Liuxi remarked knowingly. âAre you able to take spicy food at such a young age?â
Yan Su smiled, âYou might already know this, but the people of Jiangxi are good at tolerating spicy foods. Jin has loved barbecue since he was very young. He loves spicy food with a passion. But he shouldnât have too much of it.â
She ordered a few specialty dishes and three cups of the Beijing yogurt drink too.
When the waiter left, Yan Jin climbed onto the chair and looked at Mo Liuxi, âUncle, how old are you this year?â
Mo Liuxi nearly choked on his water. Then he inhaled deeply and said through gritted teeth, âI am your sisterâs friend, so you should call me brother.â
