After half an hour, Mo Liuxi went back to his room.
Tossing and turning, he could not sleep.
Mo Liuxi had just proposed. He was now Yan Suâs fiance, and her parents had given them their blessing.
He could finally take Yan Su back home properly.
But, why was he still alone in bed that night?
Mo Liuxi couldnât help but grab his phone to message Yan Su: âBaby, are you still up? I canât sleep.â
Yan Su replied almost instantly: âMe neither.â
After all, they had just gone through their first-ever proposal. They were filled with all sorts of thoughtsâsweet and complicated. No one could sleep like a log after what had just happened.
Mo Liuxi replied: âWhat a happy coincidence. How about I come over?â
Yan Su texted back: â...â
Mo Liuxi: âI havenât experienced the pleasures of the flesh for more than a half-month now. Itâs a special day, and itâs New Year. Maybe we could...â
Yan Su: âStop it. Yan Yan is right next to me.â
Mo Liuxi: âIâll be gentle and quiet.â
Yan Su: âWhat if my parents found out? My dad would flip.â
Mo Liuxi: âIâll be really, really gentle and quiet.â
Yan Su: âIâll go get some sleep now.â
Mo Liuxi: â...â
Mo Liuxi had to stare at his phone alone all night. He did not get any sleep at all.
The next day, many friends and relatives came over to wish the family a happy new year.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Yan Lv took the family to pay their respects to their ancestors, before going to Yan Suâs grandmotherâs house in the afternoon. While the older generation was busy playing mahjong, Yan Su took Yan Yan and Mo Liuxi out for a walk in town.
So many memories of Yan Su were of that ancient town with beautiful hills and bodies of water. âLook, thatâs my elementary school,â Yan Su said.
Mo Liuxi had a lookâthere were only three buildings, but the school was located in a perfect place, surrounded by hills and rivers. Mo Liuxi could tell that it wasnât a poor village. âDid you go to your middle school and high school here as well?â Mo Liuxi asked.
âNo, in Jingdezhen.â Yan Su explained, âThis is my hometown. We have a huge china factory behind the hills. We sell those to places all over the country. My parents live in the city and only come back for vacation or just for the weekend. They need to communicate and learn from others a lot because they work in the arts. Sometimes they need to travel out of town as well. They only occasionally visit the factory. Itâs my uncles who usually take care of the factory.â
âSusu, I understand nowâyour family has a long line of pottery making, and you are the heiress of this great family.â Mo Liuxi pinched Yan Suâs nose and said, âNo wonder you are like this now.â
âLike what?â Yan Su was curious.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âHeadstrong,â Mo Liuxi smiled and glanced at her. âNot seeking fame or wealth, and not competitive.â
Yan Su was a little bit embarrassed. âYeah I guess so. I didnât care much about those things because my family gave me everything I needed. My mom and dad wished that I could get educated and more cultured so that I could continue their work, but I am not really into ceramics.â
âItâs perfect now. What do you say, Yan Yan?â Mo Liuxi bent over and asked Yan Yan who was in the pram, wearing layers upon layers of heavy clothing.
Yan Yan waved her arms and legs, babbling happily. It was a shame that no one could understand what she was trying to say.
âSusu, you are leaving tomorrow... I can come over secretly, right?â Mo Liuxi got close to Yan Su and whispered all of the sudden.
Yan Suâs cheeks turned red. After some time, the wind delivered her message to Mo Liuxi. âOkay.â
They made their way back home after their long walk as a family.
It was two in the morning. Barely a sound could be heard.
Yan Su opened the door. Mo Liuxi slipped in, pulled her into his arms, and lifted her up.
âBaby, I donât want you to go,â said Mo Liuxi as he buried his head into Yan Suâs shoulder.
âItâs going to be a busy year. I need to go on tours. Itâs gonna get better though.â Yan Su held his face and said, âSpend more time with your daughter.â
