“Oh, that’s your dad? He looks very young!” Jiang Peiying was stunned too. She had sent her son out simply to test the waters. She never expected him to have a personal chat with Mo Liuxi’s father.

“What is Jin doing with your father...?” she asked Mo Liuxi haltingly.

Mo Liuxi was speechless with exasperation; that was supposed to be his question! However, he still gave an explanation, “My parents live in the same neighborhood as my sister, and they’ll go over almost every day to visit my little nephew.”

“I see,” Jiang Peiying replied with understanding.

At 11 p.m., Yan Su finally came home. Not long after she had showered, while she was in the room, Mo Liuxi sneaked in holding Yan Yan, who was fast asleep and hurriedly burrowed under the covers beside her.

Yan Su deliberately raised her brows and poked him in his chest. “I asked for Yan Yan to come in, not you. My mom is asleep next door!”

Mo Liuxi scoffed. “Your mom is such a smart woman, I’m sure she’s already guessed it. She’s just not calling us out. Besides, we even have a kid together. What’s there to be afraid of? Don’t worry, I’ll still spare a thought for her feelings. I’ll sneak back to my room in the morning.”

Yan Su could not change his mind, so she allowed him to have his way. In the meantime, she turned her head to watch Yan Yan sleeping quietly.

“Oh, right! Why didn’t you tell me that your brother was visiting too?” Mo Liuxi poked her on the cheek. “You did it on purpose, didn’t you? So that your brother could find out more about my family?”

“Stop imagining things. Jin just went to play with Little Apple. Besides, he wanted to go, and I couldn’t stop him.” Yan Su turned around to glare at him. “You, on the other hand, arranged a meet-up with our parents without telling me anything! Did you even seek my opinion?”

Mo Liuxi glanced at her lazily, and replied, “You’ve already dragged it from the New Year to the summer vacation! How much longer do you want to delay it — until the end of the year? By then, Yan Yan would already be old enough to start moving around on her own! Your parents are getting anxious!”

Yan Su had nothing to say to that. He was right.

Mo Liuxi snorted with righteous indignation, “Being with you is serious anxiety-inducing. But what can I do about it? It’s just my luck that even though the woman I found is older than me, she’s completely immature. Whoever said women mature earlier than men was bullshitting!”

Yan Su was completely taken aback.

“Why are you glaring at me? Are you unhappy with what I said? Why don’t we let your mother be the judge tomorrow?” Mo Liuxi said.

Yan Su naturally did not want her mother to judge anything. She knew she would be in for a huge reprimand.

“After the meeting in summer, we’ll get married at the end of the year. That settles it!” Mo Liuxi released her and turned around to open the drawer. “Why is it gone?” he asked.

Yan Su’s legs suddenly went limp. “Can’t you even take a break for one night? You have an examination tomorrow!”

“I only need my brain for the examination tomorrow,” Mo Liuxi replied matter-of-factly.

Yan Su was helpless against him. Eventually, she conceded defeat and walked over to the wardrobe. She pulled out a safe box and punched in the secret code before retrieving the object from inside.

Mo Liuxi’s eyes suddenly turned mischievous. “I know you like collecting such things. But even so, there’s no need to treat it as if it were a treasure.”

Yan Su stayed silent for a moment. She then gritted her teeth in exasperation and replied, “I was worried that my mom would find it if she went through my things during her visit! That was how...”

“That was how what?” Mo Liuxi narrowed his black eyes at her.

“Nothing.” Yan Su closed the safe box and climbed back into bed.
