Nian Xi felt embarrassed.

There was no way she was going to admit to anything.

“You can’t blame me. You were going to take advantage of me while I was asleep.” Nian Xi was frustrated. “I only agreed to stay because I trust your character. But I didn’t think you would... what were you doing pulling open my blanket? Were you planning to sneak into the same bed, or were you trying to sneak a peek of my body?”

“No...”

Jiang Yuning looked hurt. “I thought you were asleep. I was going to carry you to the bed.”

Nian Xi was silent. She might have misunderstood him.

“That’s a perfect excuse.”

She would never admit that she misjudged him. She had to find a way to explain herself. “Don’t you know that you are not supposed to lift a lady’s blanket. It’s considered an outrage of modesty.”

Jiang Yuning opened his mouth. He looked like he didn’t know what to say.

“Forget it. I won’t blame it on you for what happened tonight. Go to bed.” Nian Xi quickly covered herself and laid down. She realized that he was still lying there, not moving at all, taking up a lot of space. “When are you going to move? Get up quickly.”n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

“It hurts,” Jiang Yuning said softly.

“Where does it hurt?” Nian Xi was a little nervous. He was of a different importance after all. He was going to represent the country at the International Physics Conference. If he was hurt, she would be the sinner of the country.

“My ass hurts,” Jiang Yuning said. “You have a big face.”

“...”

Nothing hurt more than being called a big face.

Nian Xi chuckled. “I’m not even complaining about your smelly ass.”

“It’s not.” Jiang Yuning was nervous. “I just showered.”

“Smelly, extremely smelly.” Nian Xi pretended she was about to throw up.

Immediately, Jiang Yuning blushed a bright red.

He quickly climbed to his feet and walked into the bathroom quietly. The sound of running water could be heard from the room.

Nian Xi was speechless. Was he taking another shower just because she said that he was smelly?

She couldn’t be bothered to engage him. She laid back down, but after ten minutes, he was still in the bathroom. She started to worry and walked over to knock on the door. “You’ve been there a long while. Come out now.”

“No. You said I was smelly.”

His muffled voice echoed across the door.

“It’s not smelly. I was lying to you.” Nian Xi found it funny.

“I don’t believe you.”

“I’m a pig if I lie to you.” Nian Xi said, swearing.

The shower head was turned off. Nian Xi walked back to her bed and Jiang Yuning quickly walked out. He walked over to her bed, his face damp. “Do you want to smell...”

“Smell your ass?” Nian Xi frowned.

Jiang Yuning nodded his head.

Nian Xi couldn’t take it anymore and she extended her leg to kick him. “Stop bothering me and go to bed. I’m exhausted.”

Jiang Yuning looked at her dainty foot and then looked at his own. He quickly removed his slipper and plastered his foot against hers.

After the shower, his foot was warm and when they made contact, it was fiery hot. The warmth spread through her entire body.

“What do you want?” Nian Xi quickly retracted her foot.

Jiang Yuning lowered his head and laughed. He then quickly stood up and walked to his own bed. He shifted to the edge of the bed, getting closer to Nian Xi and turned to look at her from above.

“Don’t step on me during the night. Go to sleep and turn off the light,” Nian Xi said. She wasn’t leaving her blanket anymore.

Jiang Yuning turned off the lights and Nian Xi quickly fell asleep.
