After two hours on the plane, they arrived in Beijing.
The next morning, at 9:00 a.m., the television stationâs car came to pick up Yan Su. They headed to the gymnasium for the rehearsal.
Many artists had already arrived. Some of them were singers, and some were actors and actresses, who were good at singing too.
Yan Su browsed the list of names. Many famous artists hadnât arrived yet. The artists who were currently there werenât that well-known.
She was the third one to rehearse.
Jiaojiao said to her, âYou are popular now, but youâre new in this circle. Letâs be polite and cooperative. Letâs be good team players and do what the crew wants. Hopefully, weâll earn a good reputation through this show. Those big stars havenât arrived because they are too busy, and also because they want people to wait.â
Yan Su understood.
She didnât compare herself to the big stars just because she was getting popular. She was different and had a good mindset.
She never felt that being popular would give her the right to act like a diva. Yan Su was born with a beautiful voice, and she was young.
She sang three songs in a row, with no problem. She then had a short conversation with the band about the rhythm, but other than that, there was no problem at all.
Soon, she returned to the hotel to rest. That afternoon, Yan Su came back at 3:00 p.m.
By then, many big stars had arrived.
Ji Nuanyi was sitting among a group of people, reading lyrics while drinking coffee.
Yan Su walked over to her and greeted her with a smile. âMiss. Ji, nice to see you again.â
Ji Nuanyi raised her head and responded with, âGood to see you too. I heard from Director Cheng what you have done with the rehearsal. You, as a professional singer, are seriously amazing. I have rehearsed five times, and Iâm always singing off-key. My company has made a very wrong decision. Iâm already busy as an actress, yet they insist on making me sing.â
Yan Su gave her a suggestion. âYou can record the song in the recording studio, then get it adjusted. During the show, you only need to pretend to be singing. Many actors and actresses do that.â
âAre you saying that I should fake it?â Ji Nuanyi frowned and shook her head. âNo. I have to sing it for real. I need to let them know how awful I am at singing, so theyâll never ask me to sing again.â
Yan Su didnât know what to say.
As she fell into silence, Ji Nuanyi laughed. âI was kidding.â
âNuanyi, itâs your turn,â her manager called out.
âIâll talk to you later.â Ji Nuanyi quickly ran onto the stage.
As a professional singer, Yan Su listened to Ji Nuanyi singing, and then had only one thought left in her mind —âThat is seriously off-key.â
Jiaojiao sighed. âFortunately, for a big star like Ji Nuanyi, her fans wonât care how terrible she is at singing. Seeing her will make many people crazy as it is.â
Suddenly, a staff memberâs voice was heard from the outside. âShi Xiang is here.â
Yan Suâs heart twitched slightly. She turned back and saw Shi Xiang in white casual pants, a black t-shirt, and a white baseball hat. His hair was dyed brown. Glowing, he walked over, followed by two assistants.
His assistant had a short conversation with Wang Ke, the chief director. Afterward, Director Wang said, âWhoâs next? Zhao Tianlan? You can come here later. Let Shi Xiang rehearse first.â
Zhao Tianlan wasnât happy. âDirector Wang, Iâve been waiting long.â
âJust let him do it first. Shi Xiang must have dinner with the emcee later,â said Wang Ke with an unfriendly tone. âBesides, why didnât you come here this morning? Look at Yan Su. She finished rehearsal this morning.â
Zhao Tianlan sneered with anger, then turned and walked away.
Yan Su frowned slightly. Shi Xiang looked around and saw her but turned his eyes away. Soon many other artists walked over to him and greeted him. They seemed to know each other.
