Chapter 1895 Undecided
At the Simpson residence, Nicholas spaced out as he stared at Wilburâs room.
His mind was filled with the scene when he went to the hospital earlier to visit his mother, Mabel.
His mother was very emotional and told him in no uncertain terms that it must have been Wilbur who spiked her drink and caused her to humiliate herself publicly.
She even urged him repeatedly not to let the man off the hook. Otherwise, the entire Simpson family would be his in the future, and the two of them would no longer have a place there.
âYou must believe me, Nic. It was Wilbur. Iâm sure it was him! He has changed. Heâs merely pretending to be good to us. He has truly changed!â
âMom, hasnât our kindness to him over the years been nothing more than a show as well?â
Hearing that, Mabel froze for a moment, at a loss for words. Her expression darkened. âI-Itâs very likely that he has learned the truth about the incident back then! If so, heâll never spare me! Therefore, Nic, weâve got to strike first to gain the upper hand and acquire the Simpson familyâs company!â
âMom, the company is in Dadâs hands, and heâs the person who will be deciding who becomes his heir. What can we do?â
As Mabel gazed at Nicholas, a flash of malice glinted in her eyes, and she snarled bitterly, âWhat can we do? We can make it so that your father has no choice but to choose you!â
Nicholas was momentarily startled. âWhat are you planning to do, Mom?â
Mabel leaned close to him and murmured something or other, teaching him to deal with Wilbur and acquire the company from Rodney.
âItâs only when a critical mistake occurs in a project Wilbur is handling will your father be disappointed in him and the board of directors support you. Janice is pregnant with your child, and you must eliminate her when the child is born. Marrying a woman like her will only ruin your future.â
Nicholasâ expression changed drastically after hearing all that.
âIs this really necessary, Mom? Wilbur and I have never had any direct conflict because of the company. Actually, Iâm not interested in managing a company either.â
âYou canât think that way, Nic. Youâre not only acquiring the company for profit but to safeguard our lives. If both the Simpson family and the company fall into Wilburâs hands, death is the only thing that awaits us! The time has come that we donât need to put on a show with him anymore. Itâs time for us to act! Do you understand, Nic? Furthermore, if he truly gets together with Maya, the Seet family will definitely help him. At that time, itâll be too late for us to do anything!â
Nicholas was silent for a long while before he nodded.
However, he was still undecided inwardly. Should I really do as Mom said?
Sighing, he was just about to return to his room when a click sounded, and Wilburâs room door opened from the inside.
When Wilbur walked out and spotted Nicholas standing a stoneâs throw away, he inquired, âYouâre not in bed yet?â
âN-No!â
At his hesitant expression, Wilbur asked with a frown, âIs something the matter?â
Nicholas nodded. âWilbur, you were the one who spiked my motherâs fruit wine, werenât you? You shouldâve at least left her some dignity when sheâs already up in years instead of disgracing her thus.â
With his gaze fixated on the man who went straight to the point, Wilbur didnât deny it but let out a soft sigh, replying, âThereâs a saying that goes like thisâyou reap what you sow, so persisting in evil brings about self-destruction. Advise her to watch herself in the future.â After saying that, he threw Nicholas a warning look before descending the stairs.
A riot of emotions brewed within Nicholas as he stared at the manâs back. Should I really do as Mom said? If I do so, peace will be a thing of the past in the Simpson residence henceforth.
For that reason, he had doubts within him and wondered whether the matter could end there.
The following day, Nicole first went to Bernian Hospital with Evan. After handling all the urgent matters, she entrusted the responsibility of managing the hospital to the man and went to the set alone.
Since it was rare that she was so devoted to doing something, Evan, who loved her deeply, naturally supported her by managing the hospital as he would his own company.
It was only that he didnât know acupuncture. Otherwise, he would have personally performed acupuncture on the patients.
