Lisa continued, âProvoke her. Get her worked up so sheâll lash out at you, then youâd have every right to tell the old man about it. Do you understand?â
Sofie gave it a thought and nodded. âGot it, Aunt Lisa.â
âGo on, now. Get her a special breakfast set.â
Special breakfast set?
Something that can piss Nicole off?
âOkay, Aunt Lisa. I know what to do now.â
Hanging up, Sofie calmly walked out of the elevator with a glint in her eyes.
Fifteen minutes later, she returned to the presidentâs office with the breakfast she had gotten.
âIâve bought Ms. Laneâs breakfast, Evan,â the woman said gently with a curl of her red lips. âShe should eat it while itâs hot.â
Evan nodded and turned to Nicole. âHave your breakfast.â
Nicoleâs eyes glowered slightly as she gazed at the breakfast on the table.
She left so unwillingly, but now sheâs all smiles after getting me my breakfast? Could something be up?
Seeing Nicole remain unmoving, Sofie gave her a sincere glance.
âI bought this especially for you, Ms. Lane. Itâd be a waste of Evanâs kind intentions if you donât eat it. Please give it a taste. I can get you something else if you donât like it.â
Hearing that, Nicole became even more skeptical.
Sheâll buy me more food if I donât like this one? Is she really that kind?
Nicole locked her gaze on the lunch box, genuinely feeling rather curious.
Then, she got up and opened it.
Bones?
What the hell? Two huge bones with no meat on them at all?
Is she thinking of making me chew on it like a dog?
She turned to Sofie, demanding an explanation.
âBone broth is good for you, Ms. Lane. You should drink lots of it.â
Broth?
âThereâs no broth. All I see are two bones.â
âDonât panic, Ms. Lane. The broth is in the lower compartment.â
Sofie moved the top compartment aside to reveal the next layer of the lunch box. Indeed, there was broth inside it.
Is this really bone broth? Itâs pitch-black.
It doesnât look quite like bone broth to me.
Seeing her frown, Sofie smiled. âDo you not like bone broth, Ms. Lane? In that case, have some fish. Itâs fresh out of the water.â
She took the broth compartment out. Inside the lowest compartment was a medium-sized fish.
Huh?
Something doesnât seem right.
Nicole took a closer look and was taken aback. Holy sh*t! It really is fresh.
They must have taken it straight out of the water and tossed it right into the pot to have it cooked.
The fishâs belly was bloated. All its internal organs are probably still intact.
Seeing the womanâs expression turn ghastly, Sofie hid a smirk. âThe bone broth and fish are highly nutritious, Ms. Lane. I bought them just for you. If youâre not happy with what youâre seeing, Iâll go buy you something else.â
Then, she immediately began to keep the food away.
Buy me something else?
Itâs definitely going to be as inedible as what youâve just bought.
Youâre deliberately making things hard for me, arenât you?
âItâs fine. Iâll head down and eat soon.â
âYouâre not going to eat this at all, Ms. Lane? Isnât it a bit of a waste? Or do you not want to eat this because Iâm the one who bought it?â
What?
Are you trying to force me to eat this?
Dream on!
Nicole stared at her and scoffed. âItâs a waste? Then why donât you eat this yourself, Ms. Sweeting?â
Sofieâs expression instantly took a turn. âWhatâs wrong, Ms. Sweeting?â asked Nicole. âWonât you eat something you bought?â
Sofie began to stammer. âI-I have a fixed time to have breakfast,â she explained. âI wonât have an appetite after that time passes.â
Nicole was speechless.
Pahh!
The foodâs clearly inedible!
I knew she wouldnât be so kind.
Evan, who had kept his head buried in his work, suddenly frowned as he felt the atmosphere tense up. Nicole isnât usually this picky, so whyâ
The man looked toward the food. Upon noticing the two bones, the soup that didnât seem fresh, as well as the fish that hadnât been gutted, his face instantly turned solemn as he gazed at Sofie.
