Chapter 5: surprises

„Hey, mamá", Samu and I said when we came back from school.

My dad might be a wealthy man but when they broke up, I had decided to stay with my mom. There shouldn't be a difference between my brothers and I in my opinion. My dad let me do that under the condition that I would go to Las Encinas. He was like the other kids' dads who thought their future would be just like they expected it to be by going to this school. Samu had nothing against it so my parents agreed on that.

„Look at yourselves, you look like a minister and the first lady", Nano sat on the couch surprisingly.

I hadn't expected him to be here. He's been in jail for months. But I was so glad to have him back.

„My little brother and sister", he grinned pulling us into his arms.

„Nano, you're back", I smiled taking a closer look at his face, „And you look great, better than ever."

„Well, look at you two. You're fine at the new school, Samu? You're taking care of that, right, sis?"

„What made you come here?"

„Aren't you happy to see me?"

„Of course! But have you been released officially?"

„I wouldn't be here if not. Can you give me a beer?"

„Here", mom gave him one, „Shit, that's great, man. The four of us are together again finally."

„We're going to do a tour tonight!"

„I can't tonight", Samu declined.

„Of course, you can."

„I'm working tonight."

„Tell them that you're sick. Nano is finally back", I clapped my hands happily.

„No and what if I get caught? Since you're away I pay for everything here", Samu came up with that topic again.

„Nice welcome", Nano looked at him disappointed, „Samu, Els, I didn't go. They've locked me up."

„Boys, calm down. Nano, I'm honest, it wasn't easy. I've asked dad for money but he.. well, he said it's your own fault. He didn't help us", I sighed, „Mama didn't want me to get a job and although I've tried it, I didn't get one. No one wanted to give me my first job. So I tried to sell some clothes but Samu was the one who took care of us."

„I see my best friend flirting with my brother", I joined Marina and Samu in the classroom before the lesson started.

„And I see a girl who annoyed my brother yesterday", Marina laughed and clapped, we loved driving Guzman insane.

„Nadia, where's your hijab?", I turned to her when I noticed that something was different.

„I'm not allowed to wear it", she told me quietly.

„What?", I exclaimed, „Why? What did they say?"

„Your hair looks good", Lu grinned cockily so I immediately knew what had happened.

„Lu, seriously? Why would you do that to her, huh? What's your fucking problem?", I hissed at her.

„Em, there's no need to raise your voice. I felt threatened by her accessories. You're my friend, you should help me", she played the innocent angel.

„Yeah, Nadia's my friend, too. And if you make me decide for one of you, I'd rather be worried, Lu", I rolled my eyes and looked away. Sometimes I couldn't stand her behavior.

„Guess what happened!", Christian ran up to me after sports lesson when we were alone.

„Carla blinked at you?", I laughed amused by his joy.

„Yeah, that's happened, too. But you're dating Ander, right? The boy with the curly hairs?"

„Yeah, why?", I was confused now.

„I dropped a bag of weed in the locker room and he hided it from the teacher. I owe him so he asked me to get him some weed, too."

„No, seriously?", I laughed, „Are you two friends now?"

„Who doesn't want to be my friend? At least he doesn't want anyone to know but look at you, you smoke more than I do."

„Shh, we're in school. You know what? I'll meet you at the bridge."

„Alright, I'll see you."

„So, that's your boyfriend?", Omar asked me when we met so I could surprise Ander.

„Yes, his name is Ander. And don't worry about him, he won't tell anyone about you."

That's when we heard Chris and Ander talking about us but I couldn't see them."

„So you and Em are dating? Like really with everything going on?"

„Well, we're dating for three years now", I could literally see Ander's shy smile.

„Man and you don't get bored?"

„No, man, she's great. I'm a lucky guy."

„Oh, look, he's so cute", I told Omar quietly feeling like a lovestruck teenager.

„That's too romantic for me", he replied shaking his head with a smile.

„But no one should know about it, alright? Especially not Em."

„Hey, man, there you are. Omar and Emilia, are you alright?", Chris called us over when they saw us.

„Fuck, man!"

„Everything's fine, baby", I chuckled giving him a kiss on his lips.

„She's smoking herself."

„Omar is a good friend of mine and Nadia's brother", I added.

When they were done and Omar had left, I told Chris that Carla wanted to talk to him. I knew he would believe that.

„Yes, I'm getting there", he exclaimed, „Have fun you two."

„He's so naive", I smiled.

„Hey, why didn't I know that you've got another brother? I've only heard of Nano", Ander then asked me.

„You see how Guzman reacted to the news. That's basically the reason why I didn't tell anyone."

„Well, you could have told me."

„Sorry, baby. Are you going to Marina's party tonight?", I changed the topic.

„Yeah, I mean, Guzman would annoy Polo and I for the next weeks if we didn't."

„Well, then there's at least one person that I like going to be there."

„I love you", he kissed me passionately.

„I love you too, Ander."
