Chapter 16: "Reception"

Whispers of RomanceWords: 20780

As Vaidehi roused from her drowsy state, she sat up in bed, her senses gradually sharpening. The sound of Viyansh's ringing phone penetrated the quiet of the room. Moments later, Viyansh emerged from the closet, dressed only in lower garments, his bare upper body catching Vaidehi's attention. Without further ado, he moved to answer the call.

Vaidehi rubbed her eyes, still half in a dreamy haze as she gazed at Viyansh, her eyes widening at the sight of his chiseled abs. Mesmerized by their perfection, she found herself fighting an irresistible urge to reach out and touch them. With each blink of her eyes, the sleepiness that had clouded her mind dissipated, replaced by a newfound alertness as she continued to ogle at him, completely captivated by his presence.

As soon as he concluded his call, he mentioned.

Viyansh: "Sorry, Jaan, you woke up because of this call."

Receiving no response, he glanced at her, only to find her staring at him with wide eyes, a smirk playing on his lips. As he began to approach her, he was taken aback when she suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed onto the bed.

Viyansh: "Jaan, kya hua (What happened)"

He hurried over to her and gently tapped her cheeks, trying to rouse her. Suddenly, she reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down towards her. Opening one eye, she murmured softly.

Vaidehi: "Good morning Patidev. (beloved husband.)"

Viyansh: "Biwi, subah subah nautanki kar Rahi ho." (you're doing drama early in the morning.)

Vaidehi: "Nautanki nahi patidev, I actually lost my consciousness looking at your hot body." (Not drama, beloved husband)

With a mischievous wink, she caught him off guard, causing his eyes to widen in surprise. As he attempted to pull away, she tightened her grip on him, her touch sending shivers down his spine. Tracing her hand delicately across his face, she left him breathless and utterly captivated.

Viyansh: "Ja..jaan de..dekho, please mujhe jaane do." (pl...please let me go.)

Vaidehi: "Aise Kaise patidev, aap is tarah extremely hot ban ke mere samne aayenge and you expect me to be in control. How's that possible, main soch rahi hu kha jau aapko."

(How can I, beloved husband? You come in front of me looking extremely hot like this, and you expect me to be in control. How's that possible? I'm thinking eating you.)

With a sly grin, she leaned in close to his ear, playfully biting it before soothing the sting with a gentle lick. His heart raced, his cheeks flushed crimson as he closed his eyes, overwhelmed by her boldness. Meanwhile, Vaidehi's smirk widened, reveling in the effect she had on him. Tracing her fingers teasingly along his back, her lips trailed from his face to his neck, where she left a teasing mark. Unable to handle her bold advances, he swiftly pulled away, retreating to the closet with a mix of amusement and flustered embarrassment, leaving a chuckling Vaidehi behind.

Vaidehi: "Oh my god, Mr. Pati, your back is even hotter and more attractive."

Vaidehi playfully shouted her teasing remark, bursting into laughter once more. But as the memory of her bold actions flooded back, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and she quickly hid her face in her palm. After preparing for the day, they both descended to the breakfast table, where Vaidehi continued her playful teasing, leaving Viyansh blushing under her affectionate jests.

Around 7 pm,

At their reception party, Vaidehi had her heart set on making her entrance with Viyansh. However, he managed to convince her to accompany Vikram instead, assuring her that he would join them later at the venue. Although she felt a pang of sadness, Vaidehi ultimately agreed to his proposal.

Guests had already begun to arrive when Vaidehi's car pulled up at the venue. Vikram greeted his daughter-in-law with a warm smile as she stepped out of the car. Vaidehi looked radiant in her golden lehenga, adorned with her nuptial chain, vermillion in her hairline, bangles adorning both her wrists, and beautiful earrings dangling from her ears. Her hair cascaded down in loose waves, with delicate flowers tucked into it, completing her elegant look.

Vikram: "Don't be sad laddo, Viyansh aa hi Raha hoga." (Viyansh will be coming soon.)

She offered a faint smile in response as Vikram escorted her towards the stage. However, just as they were about to ascend the steps, the blaring sound of a car horn caught her attention. Turning around, she was stunned by what she saw.

Viyansh made a grand entrance, sitting on the bonnet of the car, while his siblings danced around the car with some people playing the Dhol. He was dressed in a kurta set that matched Vaidehi's lehenga, making his entry akin to a traditional baraat.

As she caught sight of him, a radiant smile spread across her face. He responded with a playful wink, prompting her to whistle back, a gesture that elicited a chuckle from him. With the car coming to a stop a short distance away, he leaped out and extended his hands towards her. Without hesitation, she dashed towards him, throwing herself into his embrace. In a swift motion, he enveloped her, twirling her around as her laughter filled the air.

Amidst the joyous commotion, his siblings joined in with enthusiastic hoots, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Setting her gently back on her feet, he lovingly held her close as she nestled against his chest, overcome with emotion. The heartwarming scene drew laughter and smiles from the onlookers, who couldn't help but be captivated by the undeniable bond between the two.

Vihaan: "Let's head to the stage, shall we?"

Viyansh enveloped her in his arms, and together they made their way towards the stage as the festivities commenced. The air was filled with music, and guests, including some of his business associates, began to approach them to offer their congratulations.

She murmured softly into his ear.

Vaidehi: "My man looks incredibly handsome today."

Viyansh: "Not more than my woman, who looks absolutely breathtaking."

They exchanged smiles with each other.

Vaidehi: "Are you reading my diary?"

Viyansh: "Huh? Why do you ask?"

Vaidehi: "Because what you did today, I had written it in my diary."

Viyansh: "Yes, I did read it."

Vaidehi: "Ansh, that's not fair."

Viyansh: "Biwi, if I hadn't read it, I wouldn't have known about your wishes... but I would have appreciated it if you had come to me and told me your wishes. So naraz hu main tumse." (So I'm upset with you.)

She held onto his arms and looked up at him as she spoke.

Vaidehi: "Ansh sorry na."

Viyansh: "Ab aise pyaari ankho se bologi toh kaise naraz rahunga?" (How can I stay upset when you ask so sweetly?)

She giggled, and he hugged her from the side.

Vaidehi: "Kab plan Kiya ye sab?" (When did you plan all this?)

Viyansh: "When you were busy making me blush."

Vaidehi: Ohhhh.

They were chatting when Vaidehi's expression suddenly shifted from joy to seriousness. Shruti approached them with a bouquet in hand, and Vihaan, Viraj, and Virat followed suit. Vaidehi promptly grasped Viyansh's forearm.

Shruti: "Hi Viyansh, Hi Vaidehi."

Vaidehi: "It's Mrs. Viyansh Singhania."

Shruti: "But Viyansh and I are friends."

Vaidehi: "But we are not, so please call me Mrs. Viyansh Singhania."

Shruti: "Ok ok, and please calm down. I'm here just to say that you guys won't have any problem from my side, and I understand whatever you said that day. Also, soon I'll be leaving back to London."

Vaidehi: "Good for you."

She said with a stern expression.

Viyansh: "Thanks for understanding, Shruti."

Shruti: "I hope we'll still be friends."

Viyansh: "Definitely."

She was about to hug Viyansh, but Vaidehi stepped in between them.

Vaidehi: "I'm sorry, but you can't hug my husband."

Viyansh chuckled at her possessiveness, while the rest of the siblings enjoyed the scene.

Shruti: "Woah, easy, woman, easy. Anyways, congratulations."

Viyansh: "Biwi, it's okay, chill."

He held her by her shoulders as she stood in front of him, shooting daggers at Shruti. The Singhania siblings rotated their eyes from Vaidehi to Shruti, observing the tense atmosphere.

Shruti: "By the way, Viyansh, in a few days, I'll be returning, so can I stay at your place until then?"

Vaidehi: "Sorry, but the guest room is occupied with some stuff."

Shruti: "I guess you're not aware that I used to live there before moving to London, so I have my own room beside Viyansh's room."

Vaidehi: "And now it's mine and Ansh's room. As for the room beside ours, we're renovating it for our kids, so you can't stay there. I'm sorry."

Viyansh: "Our kids?"

Vaidehi: "Yes, do you have any problem with that?"

Viyansh: "No."

Shruti's face fell as she listened to Vaidehi, while the other three struggled to contain their laughter. Viyansh's face turned red with blush.

Shruti: "Okay, I'll take my leave now."

Vaidehi: "Bye."

She left the scene, and the other three siblings burst into laughter.

Virat: "That was fantastic, bhabhi maa."

Viraj: "Especially the part about kids, her expression was priceless."

Vihaan whispered something into Viyansh's ears.

Vihaan: "Bhai, I think I'm going to be an chachu soon. (Uncle)"

Viyansh shot Vihaan a glare, but a blush betrayed his attempt at seriousness.

Afterwards, more guests arrived to offer their congratulations.

Mr. Rathore: "Hello, Mr. & Mrs. Singhania."

He said as he extended a bouquet forward.

Viyansh: "Hello, Mr. Rathore. Biwi, meet Mr. Rathore, one of our business partners."

Vaidehi: "Hello."

Viyansh: "And Mr. Rathore, meet my wife, Mrs. Vaidehi Viyansh Singhania."

After exchanging a few words, Mr. Rathore left.

Meanwhile, Vaidehi noticed some kids playing nearby.

Vaidehi: "Ansh, look at those adorable kids."

She said, cupping her face in her palms, admiring the kids. Viyansh leaned down to match her height and whispered something in her ears.

Viyansh: "Aao phir hum apne bachche karte hai." (Let's have our own kids then.)

Vaidehi blushed at his statement and looked at him, finding him smirking mischievously.

Vaidehi: "Par koi toh ready nahi tha." (But someone was ready for that.)

Viyansh slides his hand around her waist and says.

Viyansh: "But meri biwi ko main shirtless pasand aata hu aur mujhe dekh bhi liya hai, toh I guess I'm ready." (But my wife has seen me shirtless and likes it, so I guess I'm ready.)

Vaidehi blushed hard at his statement and lowered her gaze shyly.

Vaidehi: "Chup kariye na please." (Please, stop teasing me.)

He chuckled at her reaction, finding her bashfulness endearing.

Suddenly, they heard a voice.

Man: "I hope I'm not interrupting the couple."

They looked at him, and a smile lit up Vaidehi's face.

Vaidehi: "Dadu!"

She hugged her grandfather.

Harshvardhan: "How are you, my child?"

Vaidehi: "I'm good, Dadu. How about you?"

Harshvardhan: "How could I be without my little angel?"

Vaidehi: "How would I know?"

She teased him, and he chuckled.

Harshvardhan: "Chup pagal." (Quiet, silly girl.)

She giggled, and Viyansh bent down to seek his blessings.

Harshvardhan: "Always stay happy, my child."

Viyansh: "Kaise hai aap Dadu? Biwi keh rhi thi aap dhyaan nahi rakhte apna bilkul bhi" (How are you, Grandpa? The wife was saying you don't take care of yourself at all.)

Harshvardhan: "I'm good Viyansh beta, and your biwi, iski aadat hai cheeze badha Chadha kar bolne ki." (and as for your wife, it's her habit to exaggerate things.)

They both burst into laughter at her, and she couldn't help but pout in response.

Vaidehi: "Aap mere liye gift nahi laye?" (you didn't bring a gift for me?)

Harshvardhan:" laana tha?" (I was supposed to?)

Vaidehi: "Daduuuu"

She whined, eliciting chuckles from her grandfather and Viyansh.

Harshvardhan: "Wait."

He signaled to his driver, who brought the gift, handing it to Vaidehi.

Vaidehi: "Mera guitar. Thank you so much dadu."

He smiled.

Viyansh: "Jaan, tumhe guitar play karna aata hai??" (you know how to play the guitar?)

Vaidehi: "haa aur kya." (Yes, of course.)

Just then, Virat arrived and caught sight of his sister-in-law holding a guitar.

Virat: "Whoa, bhabhi maa, you know how to play the guitar?"

She nodded.

Harshvardhan: "Not only does she play the guitar, but she also sings."

Viyansh: "Really?"

Harshvardhan: "Yes."

Virat: "Then play something, please."

Vaidehi: "Here?"

Viyansh: "Come on, play something, Biwi."

Vaidehi: "Okay."

Harshvardhan: "Play this, and then I have one more surprise for you."

She smiled.

She settled onto the chair with Viyansh beside her, positioning the guitar on her lap and adjusting her hands.

Virat proceeded to make an announcement.

Virat: "Ladies and gentlemen, attention please! Let's all cheer for my bhabhi maa as she's about to sing a song for my bhai."

After making the announcement, Virat stepped down from the stage along with Harshvardhan.

Vaidehi glanced at Viyansh with affection, a smile gracing her lips. Then, closing her eyes, she began to play the guitar. Viyansh watched her with adoration, his gaze filled with love.

Jaavi Chhod Ke Na Tere Naal Rehna Ve

As the song ended, both of them gazed at each other with a myriad of emotions in their eyes. Viyansh leaned in slightly and pressed a tender kiss to Vaidehi's forehead. The surrounding people erupted into applause, and Viraj approached them.

Viraj: "Wow, bhabhi maa, you sing so well. And yeah, please do teach me how to play guitar."

Vaidehi: "Sure."

Vikram approached them and placed a hand on Vaidehi's head.

Vikram: "I didn't knew my daughter is so talented, you sing really well laddo."

Vaidehi: "So mujhe reward dijiye popsy." (So, will you reward me?)

Vikram chuckled.

Vikram: "Kya chahiye?" (What do you want?)

Vaidehi: "Let's go on a family picnic."

Vikram: "Done."

Viyansh: "By the way, Papa, if you're forgetting, let me remind you this is my reception as well, not just your daughter's."

Virat: "Bhai, are you jealous?"

Vaidehi: "Ansh jo mera hai vo aapka bhi hai na don't be jealous." (Ansh, what's mine is yours too, so don't be jealous.)

Viyansh: "Chup Karo tum, Sara attention leliya tumne toh." (Shut up, you've taken all the attention.)

The entire Singhania family burst into laughter, enjoying their time together.

She pulled him down and whispered something in his ear.

Vaidehi: "and mera sara attention sirf aapka." (And all my attention is just for you.)

She said with a wink, eliciting a smile from him.

Their family moment was interrupted by Harshvardhan, who was witnessing everything along with a man.

Harshvardhan: "Vaidehi beta look who's here."

She turned towards him, but suddenly her smile faded away. An expression of nervousness replaced it as she looked at the person in front of her, and an unknown fear became apparent on her face.

Vikram: "Ohh Hello Abhinav ji."

Yes, the person along with Harshvardhan was Mr. Abhinav Oberoi, Vaidehi's father.

Vikram moved towards him, and they shared a friendly hug. As they approached Vaidehi and Viyansh, Vaidehi tightly caught Viyansh's forearm. He looked at her, confused by her behavior.

Abhinav: "Congratulations."

Viyansh: "Thank you."

Abhinav extended a bouquet to them, and Viyansh accepted it. Vaidehi's grip tightened on his hand, and she cast her eyes downward. Vaidehi took a step back, avoiding Abhinav's attempt to touch her head, and said firmly.

Vaidehi: "Ansh, I'm.. mujhe bhook lag Rahi hai, dinner karne chale please?" (Ansh, I'm... I'm feeling hungry, shall we go for dinner, please?)

Viyansh: "Sure Biwi, chalo." ( let's go.)

They excused themselves and headed for their dinner. Viyansh guided Vaidehi to a chair and went to fetch food for both of them. As she sat there, Vaidehi seemed lost in her own thoughts, her face betraying a hint of fear. When Viyansh returned with the food, Vikram, Vihaan, Viraj, and Virat joined them. Vaidehi offered them a faint smile, but the unease in her demeanor was noticeable.

Vikram: "Today, I'll feed my daughter with my own hands."

She smiled, and he began to feed her with his hands.

Viraj: "Bhai, I think you're feeling jealous again. Let me feed you."

He offered a morsel to Viraj, who ate it, but then Viraj mischievously applied some curry on his nose. They all burst into laughter, but Viyansh retaliated by giving Viraj a playful punch.

Soon their dinner finished. Harshvardhan and Abhinav approached them, and Viyansh stood up to greet them. Vaidehi, still nervous, looked at her father.

Harshvardhan: "Okay, Vikram, now we'll also take our leave."

Vikram: "Jii (Yes.)"

Vikram exchanged a friendly hug with Harshvardhan and Abhinav, while Viyansh respectfully touched their feet and sought their blessings. As Harshvardhan and Abhinav approached Vaidehi, she avoided looking at them and instead tightly gripped Viyansh's hand, causing him confusion.

Abhinav: "Take care."

After Vaidehi's silent response, Harshvardhan and Abhinav left the place.

Vaidehi: "Ansh, I'm tired. Can we please go back home?"

Viyansh: "Okay."

Vikram: "You guys go. We will join you in a little while."

Viyansh sensed Vaidehi's unease as they walked towards the car. Her tight grip on his hand only reinforced his concern. Once they reached the car, Viyansh gently cupped her face with his free hand, lifting it to meet his gaze.

Viyansh: "Jaan aap thik hai??" (Are you okay?)

Viyansh gently placed his hand over Vaidehi's, which was tightly clutching his own. With a tender touch, he turned her face to meet his gaze, silently urging her to open up.

Viyansh: "Kya hua?" (What happened?)

Vaidehi: "Kuch nahi, ghar chaliye na please." (Nothing, let's just go home please.)

Viyansh: "are you sure?"

Vaidehi: "Hmm."

They settled into the car, and Viyansh began driving. Throughout the ride, Vaidehi remained silent, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside. Viyansh couldn't help but find her behavior unusual, but he chose not to press her to open up. Upon reaching home, they made their way to their room. Viyansh gently took Vaidehi's hand and drew her close, enveloping her in his arms.

Viyansh: "Jaan batao kya baat hai." (tell me what's wrong.)

Vaidehi: "Nothing Ansh"

Viyansh: "Don't lie, maine dekha tum party me se hi sad ho and tumhe dar hai kisi cheez ka??" (I saw you were sad right from the party, and you seem afraid of something.)

Vaidehi: "Ansh please mujhe abhi baat nahi karni hai" ( please, I don't want to talk about it right now.)

Viyansh: "Kyu, kya hua hai" (Why? What happened?)

She gently stepped out of his embrace and spoke.

Vaidehi: "It's just a headache, Ansh. I'll go lie down for a bit and I'll feel better."

He reached out and gently placed his hand on her shoulder.

Viyansh: "Alright, go get changed and come"

Viyansh placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before she headed to the washroom. While she freshened up, he changed in the room and then went downstairs. Vaidehi returned to the room and sat on the bed, lost in her thoughts, as Viyansh reentered the room.

Viyansh: "Biwi, come"

Vaidehi: "kaha?" (Where?)

Viyansh: "Aao toh" (Just come.)

He guided her to the couch, helping her to sit down before taking a seat behind her.

She looked back at him but he turned her face gently, and with a warm smile, he began to massage her head with hot oil, providing comfort and relaxation.

Vaidehi: "Ansh aap ye.. ye mat kariye." (please don't do this.)

Viyansh: "Chup chap baitho Biwi." (Just sit quietly)

She remained silent, finding solace in his touch. After she fell asleep on the couch, Viyansh observed her peaceful expression and couldn't resist smiling. He gently lifted her into his arms, carefully placing her on the bed and ensuring she was covered with the duvet. Joining her under the covers, he held her close, planting a loving kiss on her forehead.

Viyansh: "I know there's something offbetween you and your father, Biwi, and I don't want to pressure you. But please let me know soon, Jaan. I can't stand seeing this gloomy face of yours, mera bachcha."

Soon, he too drifted into a deep slumber, wrapped in the warmth of their shared embrace.

In a hotel room elsewhere:

Shruti: "You can't take Viyansh away from me, Vaidehi. Soon, he'll be mine. Just wait and watch."
