A little girl was running, tears streaming down her face as she fled. She glanced back, and suddenly there was an explosion.
Vaidehi's eyes snapped open, her face glistening with sweat, as she jolted awake.
Vaidehi: "Again same nightmare."
Vaidehi glanced at the clock, its illuminated digits displaying the early hour of 5 a.m. She shifted her gaze to the other side of the bed, where Viyansh lay peacefully asleep, a serene expression adorning his features and a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. Later, she recollected the events of the previous night.
Vaidehi thought: "The past shouldn't impact my present or future. I apologize, Ansh, for causing you concern last night. But don't fret; I'll make up for it."
With fondness in her heart, Vaidehi gently planted a kiss on Viyansh's cheek before rising from bed to begin her day. After a refreshing shower and getting dressed, she descended the stairs to the kitchen, where she busied herself preparing breakfast for the family. Alongside the savory dishes, she also whipped up a batch of delicious kheer for a sweet touch to the morning.
As the clock struck 7, signaling that everything was finally prepared, she returned to their room, her steps light with anticipation. Upon entering, she noticed Viyansh still soundly asleep, his peaceful expression masking the mischief brewing in her mind. With a sly smirk, she tip-toed over to the vanity, her eyes scanning for the necessary tools to execute her playful plan.
Grabbing a handful of rubber bands and a vibrant lipstick, she settled onto the edge of the bed beside Viyansh, her fingers itching with excitement. Carefully, she gathered his hair and secured it into a makeshift ponytail, suppressing a giggle at the sight of his transformed appearance. With the precision of an artist, she dabbed the lipstick onto his lips, cheeks, and even his closed eyelids, creating a whimsical masterpiece on his slumbering face. Admiring her handiwork, she couldn't help but giggle at the sight, though she made sure not to wake him with her laughter.
After finishing her playful mischief, she leaned in closer, planting gentle kisses on his face in an attempt to rouse him from his slumber. Each kiss was accompanied by a soft whisper of his name, her lips brushing against his skin as she tried to coax him awake with her affectionate gestures.
Vaidehi: "Ansh get up."
Feeling him stir, Vaidehi's heart skipped a beat, but when he nestled his head onto her lap and wrapped his arms around her waist, she couldn't help but smile tenderly down at him. Gently running her fingers through his hair, she leaned down to press a loving kiss to his forehead.
Vaidehi: "aaj aapko gym nahi jaana?" (Aren't you going to the gym today?)
Viyansh: "Ek din nahi jaunga toh kum hot nahi ho jaunga aisa meri biwi kehti h." (If I don't go for a day, I won't become less hot, that's what my wife says.)
She giggled.
Vaidehi: "Par ab uth bhi jaiye." ( But you should get up now.)
Viyansh: "Hmm"
Vaidehi: "Ansh, get up."
He stirred awake, propping himself up against the headrest and glanced at the time.
Viyansh: "How did you wake up early? And got ready as well without any drama... How?? Jaan, are you alright?"
Vaidehi: "What do you mean? Do I cause drama every morning, huh?"
She asked, glaring at him.
Viyansh: "You do, Jaan, you do."
He said as he pulled her cheeks.
Vaidehi: "Alright, alright, I do. But now you go and get ready; I've prepared breakfast."
She exclaimed in excitement.
Viyansh: "Why are you so excited??"
Vaidehi: "Ansh, jaiye na please." (please just go.)
She said, giving him a playful push to get him to stand up and go.
Viyansh: "Ok ok"
As he stood up and headed into the washroom, Vaidehi couldn't help but giggle at her little prank.
After some time, she heard his loud voice from the washroom, followed by his exclamation upon seeing himself, and she couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Viyansh: "Biiiiwwwwiiiiiiii"
He emerged from the washroom, irritation palpable on his face.
Viyansh: "Ye kya harkat hai biwi." (What's this Act, Biwi?)
Vaidehi: "Ansh, you look so cute, aww... Let me take a picture."
She snapped a picture just in time, and he made a move to grab her phone, but she dashed out of the room before he could reach her.
Viyansh: "Biwi aaj nahi bachogi tum." (you won't escape today.)
He started running after her but bumped into Vikram on his way, causing him to come to a sudden halt.
Vikram: "Hey, who are you, and what are you doing in my house?"
Viyansh: "Papa, main hu" (Dad, it's me.)
Vikram: "Viyansh, ye kya kiya hai" (what's going on here?)
Viyansh: "Apni laddoo se puchiye" (Ask your sweetheart.)
He shot an annoyed look at Vaidehi, who was now on the stairs. Even Vikram joined in the laughter, and Viyansh continued his pursuit of her.
Viyansh: "Biwi stop, gir jaogi" (stop, you'll fall.)
Vaidehi: "I know you're trying to distract me."
Vikram: "Laddo, don't let him catch you, run."
Vaidehi: "Yes, Popsy."
The living room turned into a scene of laughter as Vaidehi dashed around, with Viyansh in hot pursuit. Vihaan, Viraj, and Virat joined the fun, laughing at their elder sibling's antics.
Viyansh: "Jaan yaar bas Aaj toh nahi bachogi tum." (seriously, you won't escape today.)
Vaidehi: "Pehle pakad toh lijiye." (Catch me first.)
With laughter punctuating their uneven breaths from the running, Vaidehi exclaimed joyfully. Just as Viyansh was on the verge of catching her, Viraj and Virat intervened, blocking him and saving her from being caught.
Viraj: "Bhai, while we're around, you won't catch our Cupcake."
Virat: "Absolutely, and bhai, you're looking quite funny. I think you should check your face in the mirror first, and please let your hair down."
The entire family erupted into laughter as Viyansh retreated to his room, shooting a glare at Vaidehi, who muttered a quick apology to him.
After everyone had gotten ready for the day, they gathered at the dining table for breakfast, where Vaidehi was already seated, awaiting their arrival. As they all settled into their seats, it became apparent that Viyansh was deliberately ignoring Vaidehi.
Vaidehi: "So, everyone, yesterday was our reception, correct?"
Viraj: "Correct."
Vaidehi: "Also, the reception is the final function of the wedding, right?"
Virat: "Right."
Vaidehi: "So technically, it's my first day in this house after the marriage, correct?"
Vihaan: "Nonsense."
Vaidehi: "Shut up, bhai. So it's my first time cooking something for everybody after the wedding ritual, right?"
Vikram: "Nautanki (Drama)"
Vaidehi: "Popsy please na"
He chuckled and nodded in response.
Vaidehi: "So, based on that, I've prepared this sweet dish, kheer, and you guys will have it and give me gifts in return."
Vihaan: "Zabardasti gifts lene ka tarika dekha papa aapne." (Dad, you've seen the forced way of taking gifts.)
Vikram: "Quiet and do as my daughter said."
Vaidehi giggled along with Viraj and Virat, while Viyansh remained quiet, glaring at his wife the entire time.
Soon she served them breakfast along with the sweet, and everybody praised her efforts except Viyansh, who remained silent.
Vaidehi: "Ok, now give me gifts."
Vikram: "What do you want, Laddoo?"
Vaidehi: "Hmm, for now, as you promised me last night that we will go for a family picnic, so let's go this Sunday... is that okay?"
Vikram: "Done."
Vihaan: "What do you want from me?"
Vaidehi: "Ek Devrani (A Sister in law.)"
Vihaan: "Kheer itni bhi khaas nahi thi." (The kheer wasn't that special.)
Virat: "Just admit you can't talk to girls directly."
Everyone laughs at him.
Viraj: "Bhabhi maa, Virat and I will take you for shopping and a coffee date."
Vaidehi: "Done."
Then they were done, and everyone was about to leave for their respective work when Vaidehi stopped Viyansh. Everybody left, except Viyansh and Virat, as Vaidehi was holding Viyansh's hand, and Virat went to his room because he was having a cold today.
Vaidehi: "Ansh aap kya denge mujhe??" (what will you give me?)
Viyansh: "Do you really think I'll give you any gift after the stunt you pulled on me?"
She looked at him with a pouty face and puppy eyes.
Vaidehi: "Achcha Sorry na"
Viyansh: "Sorry isn't going to cut it this time."
Vaidehi was left feeling dejected as Viyansh went off to work without paying much attention to her. Despite her efforts to reach out to Viyansh through calls and texts, he remained unresponsive, adding to Vaidehi's sense of loneliness and frustration.
In office,
At lunchtime, the peon arrived to deliver his lunch box to him. He finished up his work and opened his lunch box, only to find a letter inside, which brought a smile to his face.
Viyansh: "Aisi harkatein karogi biwi toh main gussa kaise karu tumpe." ( If you keep doing such things, how can I stay angry with you, Biwi?)
He took the letter and read its contents carefully.
Sorry na Ansh, maaf nahi karenge apni jaan ko? maine aapka favourite lunch banaya hai. Achcha main pakka phir se aisa nahi karungi. Please gussa mat hoiye mujhse, mujhe achcha nahi lagta please. Love you, and I'm waiting, aap aaoge toh main aapko Huggie dungi phir aap Maan jaana okay Mr. Handsome?? Bye.
The letter was sealed with a kiss mark from her lipstick, adding a touch of her affection to the message.
(Sorry Ansh, won't you forgive your sweetheart? I've made your favorite lunch. Okay, I promise I won't do it again. Please don't be angry with me, I don't like it. Love you, and I'm waiting. If you come, I'll give you a hug, then you'll agree, okay Mr. Handsome?)
He chuckled at her playful gesture but didn't waste any time before dialing her number. After just two rings, she answered the call.
Vaidehi: "Hi Ansh"
Viyansh: "Ye letter ki kya harkat hai biwi?" (What's with this letter, Biwi?)
Vaidehi: "Aap gussa hai mujhse? (Are you angry with me?)"
Viyansh: "Tumne socha bhi kaise ki mujhe pyaar ke alawa kuch aa sakta hai tum pe?" (How could you even think that anything other than love could come from me towards you?)
She smiled and blushed.
Vaidehi: "Toh jaldi ghar aaiye, intezar karungi with a cup of coffee, lot's of love and hugs and then cuddles." (So hurry back home, I'll be waiting with a cup of coffee, lots of love and hugs, and then cuddles.)
He couldn't help but giggle along with her.
Viyansh: "Wanna have ice cream?"
Vaidehi: "No, chocolates"
Viyansh: "Aata hu kuch der me aapke chocolates lekar jaan." (I'll be back in a while with your chocolates, my love.)
Vaidehi: "Bye."
After the call, he sat back, enjoying his lunch with a contented smile on his face.
Singhania mansion,
In the evening, Vaidehi and Virat found themselves in the living area. Vaidehi was standing on one sofa while Virat stood on another, trying to keep some distance from his mischievous sister-in-law. Vaidehi had a mischievous glint in her eyes as she attempted to tie Virat's ponytail just like she had done with Viyansh in the morning.
Virat: "Bhabhi maa, you can't put me through this."
Vaidehi: "Come on, Veer, you'll definitely look cute."
As Viyansh entered the house, a smile stretched across his face as he observed the playful scene unfolding before him. Vaidehi and Virat were darting from one sofa to the other, engaged in a playful pursuit, while Viyansh watched their antics with amusement.
Viyansh: "Pura din bas uchal kud karti rehti hai meri Jaan, god how will I handle this kiddo." (My Jaan keeps jumping around all day, God, how will I handle this kiddo.)
He muttered to himself before calling out to them.
Viyansh: "What's happening?"
Virat: "Thank God, bhai, you're here."
Vaidehi: "Ansh."
Caught up in her excitement, Vaidehi was just about to leap from the sofa when Viyansh intervened, halting her in her tracks.
Viyansh: "Biwi, stop, don't jump. Wait, I'm coming."
She stood there.
Vaidehi: "Ansh, see, he's not letting me tie his ponytail."
Viyansh arrived, and Virat seized the moment, darting off to his room. Vaidehi huffed in exasperation, while Viyansh couldn't help but chuckle at the scene.
Viyansh: "Ye tum kya kya karti rehti ho jaan, kaha se aata hai tumhare dimaag me ye sab." (Jaan, what all do you keep coming up with? Where does all this come from in your mind?)
She giggled as he wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her momentarily before gently setting her back down.
Vaidehi: "Because I have an innovative mind."
He playfully smacked her head and said.
Viyansh: "Shaitani dimaag kehte h isme." (It's called a mischievous mind.)
Vaidehi: "Huhh, where are my chocolates?"
Viyansh: "Mera wait kar rhi thi ya chocolates ka?" (Were you waiting for me or for the chocolates?)
Vaidehi: "Of course chocolates ka. "
He narrowed his eyes while she chuckled mischievously.
Vaidehi: "Aapka hi Ansh aur kiska." (Only yours, Ansh, and whose else.)
She hugged him, and he smiled while hiding her in his embrace.
Vikram: "Have you guys finished?"
They looked towards the entrance where Vikram stood with a smile. But as soon as Vaidehi saw him, her smile vanished, noticing that Mr. Abhinav Oberoi was accompanying him. She again gripped Viyansh's forearm tightly. Vikram and Abhinav approached them.
Vikram: "Look, Abhinav ji, as I mentioned, she must be up to some mischief."
They chuckled and approached, with Vaidehi instinctively hiding behind Viyansh, clutching his shirt tightly. Viyansh respectfully took their blessings.
Viyansh: "Biwi, what's wrong?"
She shakes her head, indicating nothing.
Vikram: "Please, have a seat, Abhinav ji."
Both of them sat on the sofa.
Vikram: "Laddo, please bring some tea."
Without offering any explanation, she quietly retreated to the kitchen. Viyansh, still puzzled by her behavior, continued to watch her, feeling increasingly suspicious.
Abhinav: "Viyansh, come sit with us."
He smiled and joined them, engaging in conversation about business and various other topics. As she arrived with tea and snacks, Viyansh observed that her hands were trembling. She stood silently, avoiding eye contact and keeping her gaze fixed on the ground.
Abhinav: "Viyansh, son, actually, I've come to take Vaidehi to our house for a few days."
Vaidehi looked at him in shock, and Viyansh was equally surprised. He didn't want to live apart from his wife, but he couldn't deny Abhinav's request, considering he was her father.
Abhinav: "I have already spoken with Vikram ji. Actually, her Dadu and I wanted to spend some time with her. So, is it fine with you?"
Viyansh glanced at Vaidehi, noticing that she was fixedly gazing at Abhinav.
Viyansh: "Yes, uncle, I don't have any problem. She's your daughter."
Upon hearing Viyansh's words, tears welled up in Vaidehi's eyes, and she swiftly dashed towards their room.
Vikram: "I think she went to pack her bags."
Vikram and Abhinav exchanged smiles and delved into their conversation, while Viyansh couldn't shake off a sense of unease. After 20 minutes had passed without Vaidehi returning, Viyansh decided to go upstairs and check on her.
Viyansh: "Papa, I'll be right back."
Vikram nodded, and Viyansh made his way to their room. Upon opening the door, he was taken aback by the sight before him. Vaidehi sat on the floor near the couch, tears streaming down her face, her eyes red and swollen from crying. Viyansh tossed his blazer aside and rushed to her side. Gently lifting her face, he asked with concern.
Viyansh: "Biwi kya hua why are you crying." (what's wrong? Why are you crying?)
She didn't answer him but instead hugged him tightly, seeking comfort in his embrace. Viyansh could feel her trembling, her lips quivering, and he noticed that her temperature was rising. Concerned, he held her closer, rubbing her back gently, his own worry growing at her deteriorating condition.
Viyansh: "bachcha rote nahi hai, see your temperature is rising, jaan please chup ho jao kya hua hai batao."
(Baby don't cry, look, your temperature is rising. Jaan, please stop crying, tell me what's wrong.)
Feeling her tight grip, Viyansh gently attempted to free himself, but Vaidehi clung even tighter, unwilling to let go.
Vaidehi: "A..n..sh pl..ease mujhe mat bhe.. jiye mujhe nahi jaana hai." ( A..n..sh, please don't send me, I don't want to go.)
Viyansh: "Kaha nahi jaana hai and stop crying." (Where don't you want to go, and stop crying.)
Viyansh pulled her gently and wiped away her tears, but Vaidehi continued to cry, her sobs intensifying. He noticed her difficulty in breathing, which added to his concern. He held her close, trying to comfort her as best as he could, but her distress seemed overwhelming.
Vaidehi: "Mu..jhe Mr. Oberoi ke.. sa.. th nahi jaana. He don't l..ove me. He ha..tes me." ( I... don't want to go... to Mr. Oberoi's place. He doesn't love me. He hates me.)
Viyansh: "what are you saying jaan?."
Vaidehi: "Yes Ansh he hates me. Aap na...hi bhej..oge na mujhe. Mai...n na..hi Jaa." (Yes, Ansh, he hates me. You... won't send me, right? I... won't go.)
Viyansh: "Shhh, firstly stop talking and breathe."
Viyansh continued to rub her back soothingly, trying to calm her down. Despite her attempts to speak, her words were interrupted by her uneven breathing. Viyansh, deeply concerned for her well-being, couldn't understand the cause of her sudden emotional outburst. He gently tried to help her stand up.
Vaidehi: "I will not go, ple...ase mujhe..nahi ja"
As soon as they stood up, Vaidehi tried to say something, but her words were cut short as she struggled to breathe. Suddenly, everything went black, and she collapsed in Viyansh's arms. He held her tightly, his heart racing with fear and concern.
Viyansh: "Jaan... Jaan"
He gently patted her cheeks, hoping for a response, but there was no movement from Vaidehi. Concern and panic surged through Viyansh.
Viyansh: Papa,Virat come fast.
He called out in distress, lifting Vaidehi into his arms and carefully placing her on the bed. Panicking, he began rubbing her hands, desperately trying to bring her back to consciousness. Vikram, Abhinav, and Virat rushed into the room, their expressions turning to shock as they saw Vaidehi unconscious on the bed.
Virat: "What happened bhai?"
Viyansh: "Virat, call the doctor quickly."
Virat: "Bhai, what's..."
Viyansh: "Just call the doctor immediately."
Viyansh's shout startled Vikram and Abhinav, who were both stunned by Vaidehi's pale complexion. Virat swiftly dialed the doctor as they all gathered around her, concern evident in their eyes.
Vikram: "Viyansh, how did this happen?"
Viyansh: "I don't know, Papa. She was crying, and then suddenly she fainted."
Abhinav: "Sprinkle some water on her face."
Viyansh followed Abhinav's instructions carefully, but Vaidehi remained unresponsive, adding to the growing anxiety in the room.
Virat: "Bhai, the doctor is on the way."
Vikram's concern deepened as he felt the heat radiating from Vaidehi's forehead, indicating a possible fever.
Vikram: "Viyansh, she has a high fever."
Viyansh carefully covered Vaidehi with the duvet and settled down beside her.Viyansh's eyes welled up with tears, and he felt a deep sense of fear wash over him as he gazed at his wife. Never before had he seen her so vulnerable, and the sight filled him with a profound sense of concern and uncertainty.
Viyansh: "Papa wh...at happen..ed to her, she just.."
Viyansh's voice quivered with emotion as he asked, his eyes brimming with tears. Vikram placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, offering silent support in this moment of distress. Despite their efforts, Vaidehi remained unresponsive, and the sense of helplessness weighed heavily on them all. Abhinav stood nearby, his expression a mix of shock and confusion, grappling with the unexpected turn of events.
After a few minutes, Vaidehi began to shiver, her words coming out as mumbled whispers.
Vaidehi: "No.. don't lock.. me."
Viyansh held her hands tightly, feeling her grip tighten as she continued to shiver.
Vaidehi: "I don't... Wanna go. Ansh ..... please don't se..nd me. He hates me... Hates me."
Viyansh listened intently to her trembling words, realizing the depth of her fear as she struggled to regain consciousness.
Soon the bell rang and Virat hurriedly answered the doorbell and ushered the doctor inside, who arrived promptly to assess the situation. Vihaan and Viraj arrived shortly after, having been informed by Virat.
Once everyone had left the room, the doctor and Viyansh remained with Vaidehi. Viyansh explained the recent events to the doctor while she carefully examined Vaidehi.
Doctor: "Mr. Singhania, she had a panic attack."
Viyansh: "What?"
Doctor: "Yes, and even this fever is a result of that."
Viyansh: "But doctor, this is the first time I've seen her like this."
Doctor: "Does she have any past trauma?"
Viyansh: "I'm not sure, doctor. We've only been married for 2.5 months."
Doctor: "There must be something, Mr. Singhania. I need her medical history to treat her properly because I suspect this isn't her first panic attack."
Viyansh: "Are you saying this has happened before?"
Doctor: "Not frequently, but there's likely a trigger for it. For now, I'll administer an injection and prescribe some medication. She should regain consciousness in a few hours. Please talk to her and try to understand what caused this. From your description, I'm concerned that if this continues unchecked, it could lead to something serious."
Viyansh nodded to her, but he was overwhelmed with shock, fear, and concern at the moment. He couldn't comprehend why she suddenly had a panic attack, but deep down, he had a strong suspicion that it was somehow related to her father.
After giving Vaidehi an injection and prescribing medication, the doctor left the room and informed the others about her condition. Abhinav, Vikram, Vihaan, Viraj, and Virat all entered the room and observed Vaidehi. She remained unconscious, her face visibly pale, causing concern among them.
Vihaan: "Bhai, what caused this?"
He attempted to rise but found himself unable to, as Vaidehi had firmly grasped his hand.
Viyansh: "Virat, could you please sit with her for a while?"
Virat: "Of course bhai."
Virat took Vaidehi's hand and settled beside her. Then Viyansh instructed everyone to gather downstairs.
In the living room,
Viyansh: "Uncle, has she ever experienced such a panic attack before?"
Abhinav: "I'm sorry, I don't know."
Viyansh was already furious with him. Whatever Vaidehi had hinted at made it clear to him that her father was the cause of her current condition, and now his anger was only escalating.
Viyansh: "Oh, really? Wow. Firstly, she got this panic attack because of you, and you don't even know anything about it. How can you be so careless about your own daughter?"
He spoke with a stern voice, anger evident in his eyes.
Vikram: "Viyansh, what are you saying? And is this the way to talk to your elders?"
Viyansh: "Yes, Papa, I'm speaking the truth. Jaan was having trouble breathing, and she kept saying she didn't want to go with her father, that he hates her."
Vihaan: "What? But how did Dahi get such a sudden panic attack?"
Viyansh: "It's not sudden, Vihu. The doctor said she must have had such attacks in the past as well.
Viraj: "Bhai, is Bhabhi Maa alright?"
Viyansh: "We need her medical history for that, but I'm sure you must not be aware of it either, am I correct, Mr. Oberoi?"
Abhinav remained silent and lowered his head.
Viyansh: "I regret to inform you, Mr. Oberoi, that I cannot send my Biwi with you, neither now nor in the future."
Abhinav: "I'll ask Papa to send you her medical file, and please take care of her."
Viyansh returned to Vaidehi's side after Abhinav left.
