Chapter 23: "Trust & Turmoil"

Whispers of RomanceWords: 19792

As soon as Viyansh entered the room, Vaidehi rushed towards him, flinging herself into his arms. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, and he instinctively caught her, lifting her up as she balanced on her toes. His face was etched with worry and concern, but he knew he needed to calm his distraught wife. Despite the audible sobs, he gently stroked her hair and spoke softly to her, trying to offer comfort and reassurance.

Viyansh: "Shhhh bachcha, kya ho gaya main aa gaya hu na kuch nahi hoga, ab chup ho jao."

(what happened? I'm here now, nothing will happen. Just calm down.)

His soothing words seemed to have some effect on her, but she clung to him even tighter, refusing to let go. Sensing her need for comfort, her friends quietly left the room, giving the couple some privacy. Despite his efforts to gently ease her grasp, she only tightened her hold on him, seeking solace in his embrace.

Vaidehi: "Rehne dijiye kyu baar baar mujhe dur karte hai aap?"

(Let it be, why do you keep pushing me away all the time?)

She spoke through her tears, her voice trembling with emotion.

With a gentle smile, Viyansh guided Vaidehi towards the nearby couch, her form still cradled securely in his arms. As they reached the couch, he carefully helped her settle into a comfortable position before kneeling down in front of her. Tenderly, he wiped away her tears, took her hands in his, and asked softly.

Viyansh: "What happened??"

She lowered her head and said.

Vaidehi: "Main dard gayi thi" (I got scared)

Viyansh: "Kyu?" (Why)

Vaidehi: "Ansh main lo..lock ho gayi thi room me, andhera tha vaha, main akeli thi, aapka phone bhi nahi lag raha tha, ma..main bahaut Darr gayi thi."

(I got locked in the room. It was dark, and I was all alone. I couldn't reach you on the phone. I was so scared.)

Tears streamed down her cheeks, and Viyansh's heart clenched at the thought of her fear and distress. Without hesitation, he pulled her into another tight embrace, holding her close as if to shield her from any further harm.

Viyansh: "Did you have a panic attack again?"

Vaidehi: "No."

Viyansh: "Kaise hua ye sab?" (How did all this happen?)

She pulled back slightly, wiping away her tears, her expression a mix of relief and lingering anxiety.

Vaidehi: "Sugandha Aunty had said that some ritual items were kept in the back room, so I went there to get them. But when I entered, the door got locked. It was very dark inside, Ansh, you know how scared I am of such places. Then I tried to call you, but there was no network. I banged on the door, but no one came. Finally, after about 10 minutes, my friend Shravani came looking for something, and when she heard me, she opened the door."

Viyansh: "What the hell biwi kya zarurat thi aise vaha Jane ki??" (What was the need to go there alone?)

He asked with a tinge of anger in his voice, though he made sure not to raise his tone at her.

Vaidehi: "Sorry"

Vaidehi's apology was met with a brief moment of silence before Viyansh attempted to soothe his own agitation.

Viyansh: "Kahi lagi hai tumhe??" (Are you hurt anywhere?)

Vaidehi: "No."

Her response was immediate, but Viyansh's gaze fell upon her reddened hands, evidence of her frantic attempts to free herself from the locked room.

Viyansh: "What do you mean, 'no'? Kitne laal kar liye tumne apne hath bachcha. Achcha pehle yaha se chalo, And we're not going to attend the wedding either."

(Look at your hands, they're practically red. Alright, let's get out of here.)

He stood up, still holding her hand tightly as they faced each other.

Vaidehi: "Ansh, no, she's my best friend. I want to attend her wedding. and see main thik hu ab bas thoda sa hi toh dari thi main."

(Besides, I'm fine now. I was just scared for a little while.)

Viyansh: "You burst into tears the moment you saw me, your hands are injured, and your eyes are red. And you're saying you're fine? Please, biwi, stop being so careless."

Vaidehi: "Ansh aap chahe toh aur dant lijiye mujhe par please hum thodi der ke liye hi sahi par shadi attend karenge, please Ansh please."

(if you want, you can scold me more, but please, let's attend the wedding, even if just for a little while.)

Her pleading gaze softened Viyansh's resolve, and with a sigh, he relented.

Viyansh: "Ok but thodi der ke liye hi and filhal chalo mere sath, kuch khaya bhi nahi hoga na tumne. Chalo"

(ok fine but only for sometime and let's go from here, you must have not eaten anything either)

He escorted her to the car and courteously opened the passenger door for her. A bright smile illuminated her face as she noticed a gift box placed on the seat. Turning to him, who stood behind her, she inquired eagerly.

Vaidehi: "Ye mere liye??" (Is this for me?)

Viyansh: "Nahi meri biwi ke liye." (No, it's for my wife.)

Her smile widened as she reached for the box, her fingers eager to unwrap the surprise. Settling into the passenger seat, she held the gift close, anticipation dancing in her eyes. Viyansh joined her behind the wheel, his own smile reflecting her infectious joy.

Vaidehi: "Can I open it?"

Viyansh teased, knowing her well.

Viyansh: "As if you wouldn't even if I said no."

She pouted.

Vaidehi: "Aap naraz hai kya mujhse, main sach keh rahi hu main galti se lock ho gayi thi, aur na..." (Are you angry with me? I'm telling the truth, I got locked accidentally, and...)

Her words trailed off as Viyansh leaned in to kiss her forehead, his gesture speaking volumes of his love and understanding.

Viyansh: "Main naraz nahi hu bachcha, bas fikr ho gayi thi."

(I'm not angry, sweetheart. I was just worried)

Her smile returned, reassured by his affectionate gesture. She gently took his hand, intertwining their fingers.

Vaidehi: "Main thik hu, aap tension mat lijiye." (I'm fine, don't worry)

He kissed her hand tenderly, his eyes filled with warmth and affection.

Viyansh: "Chalo ab kholo, dekho kya hai." (Let's see what's inside. Go ahead, open it.)

As she eagerly opened the box, Viyansh leaned back and rested his head on the steering wheel, watching her with a soft smile. His heart swelled with joy as he witnessed the gleam of happiness in her eyes.

Vaidehi: "Ahhhh!"

She let out a joyful scream the moment she laid eyes on the gift he had prepared for her. Excitedly, she hugged him tightly, causing him to wince as she screamed directly into his ears. He pulled back with a playful rub of his ears, chuckling at her exuberance.

Viyansh: "Biwi yaar behra hi kardogi aaj tum." (you're going to make me deaf today)

Vaidehi: "Sorry, sorry."

Viyansh: "Pasand aaye?" (Did you like it?)

Vaidehi: "Bahaut." (Very much)

Vaidehi's eyes sparkled with gratitude as she admired the jhumkas nestled within the box. Her gaze shifted back to him, gratitude shining in her eyes.

Vaidehi: "Ten pairs of jhumkas, thank you, Ansh."

He simply smiled in response, his heart swelling with contentment at her happiness.

Vaidehi: "But wait a minute, Ansh. I was the one who lost the bet. phir aapne meri baat kyu maani???" (Why did you agree to my request?)

Viyansh: "Because I don't need to lose a silly bet to make my wife happy. Zarurat hai kya Jaan?"

(Do I?)

His words were filled with love and sincerity, causing a blush to spread across her cheeks. He gently nibbled on her cheek, prompting her to shyly lower her gaze.

Vaidehi: "Ansh..."

Viyansh: "What Ansh, ab aise sharmaogi toh mujhe toh pyaar aayega hi na tumpar." (What, Ansh? If you blush like this, I'll fall in love with you all over again)

Her blush deepened at his words, and she quickly changed the subject.

Vaidehi: "Thik hai vo chodiye ab ye bataiye what do you want??" (Okay, let's leave that. Now tell me, what do you want?)

Viyansh: "For what?"

Vaidehi: "Because I lost the bet, so I want to fulfill my promise."

Viyansh: "Alright then, you have to kiss me."

Vaidehi: "Hah, that's so easy."

Viyansh: "Wait, biwi, puri baat toh sun lo" (listen to the whole thing.)

Vaidehi: "Hmm, Kahiye" (go on.)

Viyansh: "10 kisses, 7 days."

Vaidehi: "Bas itna hi, Okay, done."

Viyansh: "10 kisses each day, biwi."

Vaidehi: "Oh, okay... What?"

She glanced at him with widened eyes filled with surprise, and he responded with a smirk, enjoying her reaction.

Vaidehi: "You're joking, aren't you?"

Vaidehi: "Not at all, biwi. It's just a matter of 10 kisses per day for seven days."

Vaidehi: "As if you'll spare me after that."

She muttered under her breath, but he caught it and couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction.

Viyansh: "You know me so well."

She blushed and quickly averted her gaze, looking out the window to avoid his knowing gaze, while he started driving towards their destination.

Viyansh: "By the way, there's one more thing in there. Check."

Curious, Vaidehi inspected the box again and discovered a lipstick inside.

Vaidehi: "You got me a lipstick?"

Viyansh: "Yep, and it's smudge-proof."

He said with a playful wink

Vaidehi: "Youuuu"

She began playfully hitting him with her tiny hands, and he couldn't help but laugh. The rest of the drive was filled with their teasing and laughter, and soon they arrived at "Singhania & Co."

As they were heading towards his cabin, an employee approached Viyansh with some work, causing him to stop in his tracks. Meanwhile, Vaidehi continued ahead and interacted with the interns, engaging in conversation with them.

Raj (intern): "I must say, Vaidehi, you're looking very pretty today."

Viyansh's stern voice cut through the air, interrupting their exchange.

Viyansh: "What's this, Vaidehi? Call her ma'am."

Glancing back, Sahil and Akshay noticed Viyansh standing behind Vaidehi, while Raj, feeling intimidated, recoiled slightly.

Raj: "Actually, Sir, Vaidehi-I mean, ma'am-asked me to call her by name, so..."

Viyansh's tone remained firm.

Viyansh: "No need. Call her ma'am."

Then, turning his attention to Vaidehi, Viyansh addressed her directly.

Viyansh: "Aur Biwi tum, you need to stop being overly friendly with employees."

Vaidehi retorted, refusing to back down.

Vaidehi: "I can't be arrogant like you, Ansh. Now, I'm going to see Popsy. Please call Ahaan bhai for lunch. Bye!"

She playfully patted his cheeks before leaving, leaving him surprised. The interns couldn't help but giggle at his reaction until they were met with a stern glare from him.

Viyansh: "What? Don't you love your job? Are you here to work or to flirt with my wife?"

Raj: "So... sorry, Sir."

Viyansh: "You better be, and keep your distance from her."

He warned them before heading back to his cabin.

After some time, Vaidehi returned to Viyansh's cabin. As soon as she opened the door, she witnessed Shruti in Viyansh's arms. Upon noticing Vaidehi, Viyansh quickly released Shruti, causing her to stumble and fall. Anger flickered across Vaidehi's face as she glared at Shruti, but she composed herself and entered the room.

Viyansh: "Jaan, actually..."

Vaidehi: "I know, Ansh. She was about to fall, and you were just helping her."

She gently grasped his bicep and offered him a reassuring smile, silently conveying her trust in him.

Vaidehi: "Shruti what are you doing at your place....oh sorry I mean that place C'mon get up. "

Vaidehi extended her hand to help Shruti stand up, and then once again she looped her arm through her husband's, reaffirming their connection.

Shruti: "Sorry I just fell down."

Vaidehi: "Yeah I can see that."

There was a hint of sarcasm in Vaidehi's tone as she spoke. She then questioned Shruti about her presence in the office.

Vaidehi: "By the way, why are you here? Isn't the deal between Ansh and your boss already finalized? What's the reason for your regular visits to the office?"

Shruti: "Yeah, I'm going back to London in 2-3 days, so I thought to meet him once. By the way, have you been coming to the office regularly?"

Vaidehi: "My husband is the CEO of this company, and I'm the CEO of his life. so Jaha Ansh vaha main." (Wherever Ansh is, there I am.)

Shruti offered a strained smile in response.

Shruti: "Of course."

Vaidehi then politely requested some privacy.

Vaidehi: "Now, could you please give us some privacy?"

Shruti: "Sure."

Shruti complied with a nod and exited the cabin, leaving Vaidehi and Viyansh alone once again.

As Viyansh sat down on his chair and sifted through a file, he couldn't help but notice Vaidehi's lingering anger towards Shruti. Despite the tension in the air, he decided to break the silence by asking a question.

Viyansh: "Hmm, biwi, what was all that about?"

However, Vaidehi ignored his question and posed her own.

Vaidehi: "Main aa jau??" (Can I come over)

Confused, Viyansh looked at her, noticing her cute pout.

Viyansh: "Kaha?" (Where?)

Vaidehi: "Aapki baahaon me." (In your arms.)

He smiled warmly at her innocent request, understanding her need for comfort. With open arms, he beckoned her to him. She eagerly complied, wrapping her arms around his neck as she settled into his lap, her head finding a comfortable spot against his chest. He instinctively wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, while his other hand gently stroked her hair, soothing her with his touch.

Viyansh: Kya hua mere bachche ko??" (What's wrong, my dear?)

Vaidehi: "You could have used that opportunity to make me jealous, but you didn't. Why?"

Viyansh: "Because I want the world to be envious of you. I want to show them that my entire world resides in my arms, and I'm content with her. She brightens my life with her charming smile, pouty lips, shining eyes, and, of course, her pretty waist."

Vaidehi blushed at his words.

Viyansh: "I want to show them that Viyansh belongs only to Vaidehi."

He gently kissed her forehead, and she felt overwhelmed by his affection, tears welling up in her eyes. Viyansh quickly wiped them away.

Viyansh: "No more tears. pehle hi bahaut ro li ho aaj tum." (You've cried enough today.)

Vaidehi: "Offo Ansh, aapki aisi baaton pe na itna pyaar aata main kya batau." (your words always fill me with so much love. What can I say?)

Viyansh: "Mat batao, karke dikhao." (Don't say anything, show me.)

She smiled and began peppering his face with kisses, causing him to giggle.

However, her expression changed when she noticed something on his chest, and she gave him an angry look.

Vaidehi: "Jab dekho hero ban ke buttons khule rakhte hai us Shruti ke samne bhi, Kitne besharam hai aap Ansh."

(Why you act like a hero with your buttons undone, even in front of Shruti, how shameless you are, Ansh.)

She said, fastening the upper two buttons of his shirt.

Viyansh: "Har waqt kya mujhe besharam bolti rehti ho tum, besharam hogi tumhari Aulad."

(Why do you always call me shameless? Your child will be shameless)

Vaidehi replied mischievously, tightening her grip on his neck.

Vaidehi: "Vo bhi toh aapki besharami ki vajah se hi hogi na."

(That would be because of your shamelessness, right?)

She winked at him, causing him to blush deeply. His cheeks, ears, and neck turned pink. He turned his face to the side to conceal his blush.

Vaidehi: "Are you blushing, Patidev?"

(my dear husband?)

Viyansh: "Harkatein dekhi hai apni??"

(Have you seen your own actions?)

She giggled, and he responded with a shy smile. She remained seated on his lap while he fidgeted with her earrings, a habit he had developed recently.

Viyansh: "Jaan, are you sure nobody intentionally locked you in there?"

Vaidehi: "Oh, Ansh, apart from my friends, nobody knows me there, so who would do that?"

Viyansh: "Maybe your friends?"

Vaidehi: "No, but yeah, there's a possibility that someone who saw me with you last night got jealous of me having an exceptionally handsome husband and locked me in there."

He playfully smacked her head and then straightened out her hair.

Vaidehi: "Oh yeah, wait, I have something for you."

She reached for her purse and retrieved a red box from within. With anticipation, she opened it, revealing a delicate gold chain with a locket adorned with the symbol "Om" (ॐ) inside. With tender care, she took it out and delicately fastened it around his neck with her own hands.

Viyansh: "Ye kyu?" (Why is this?)

Vaidehi: "Pasand nahi aaya?" (Didn't you like it?)

Viyansh: "Tum kuch Lao aur mujhe pasand na aye aisa kaise ho sakta hai??? But is it because I gifted you a waist chain?" (How can I not like something you bring?)

Vaidehi: "Nahi baba apne hi pati se ab Gifts me competition lagaungi kya main???"

( No. Do I have to compete with my own husband in gift-giving now?)

He chuckled.

Vaidehi: "Ye main kabse layi thi par dena bhul jati thi. And ye isiliye kyuki you always play with my earrings just like you're doing now. I play with your shirt buttons, but usme mazaa nahi aata aur raat me aap tshirt pehen lete so now I can play with this chain."

(I've had this for a while, but I kept forgetting to give it to you. And I got it because you always play with my earrings just like you're doing now. I play with your shirt buttons, but that's not as fun. Plus, you always end up wearing a T-shirt at night, so now I can play with this chain.)

He laughed at her playful reasoning, and she pouted, prompting him to give her a quick peck on the lips.

Viyansh: "Okay, fine. chalo ab sach batao" (Now tell me the real reason.)

She instantly began to explain.

Vaidehi: "Shruti ghumti rehti h aapke aas pass aur aapki kitni female employees ki nazar hai aap pe... Main nahi rahi office me toh ghurti hai sari aapko ab aise me aapko Nazar lag jayegi toh main kya karungi... Isiliye this locket will protect you."

(Shruti is always hovering around you, and how many female employees have an eye on you... If I'm not in the office, they'll all keep staring at you, and if you get the evil eye, what will I do... That's why this locket will protect you.)

She rested her head on his chest again, now playing with his chain.

Viyansh: "oh apne liye kyu nahi liya locket??"

(Then why didn't you get one for yourself?)

She lifted her head and looked at him.

Vaidehi: "Mujhe protect karne ke liye ye hai na." (This is there to protect me.)

She gestured towards her nuptial chain.

Vaidehi: "Mera mangalsutra, ye humesha mere sath rehta hai aapke roop me toh mujhe kaise kuch hoga." (My mangalsutra, it's always with me in your form, so how can anything happen to me.)

He was stunned by her response, the level of trust she had in him always amazed him. He felt deeply touched and kissed her on the cheeks.

Viyansh: "God Jaan tum, tumhari harkatein aur tumhari ye aisi baatein, kyu karti ho mujhse itna pyaar." ( God, Jaan, your actions and these words of yours, why do you love me so much?)

Vaidehi: "Bas karti hu." (I just do.)

She smiled innocently, and then he began to playfully pepper her cheeks with kisses, causing her to giggle.

Vaidehi: "Aapko kaise pata ki main jhuth keh rahi thi??"

(How did you know I was lying?)

Viyansh: "Because, Jaan, now you insist on me wearing shirts even at night and then you play with the buttons so enthusiastically, you can't sleep without it. Isn't it obvious?"

She lowered her eyes, feeling embarrassed.

Vaidehi: "God Ansh aap aur aapke fizul sawaal, chaliye ab bhook lagi hai mujhe." (your unnecessary questions. Come on, I'm hungry now.)

She stood up and tried to pull him with all her strength, but failed. He chuckled and then stood up, and both headed for lunch with the rest of the family.

After lunch, everyone returned to their respective tasks, leaving only Vaidehi and Vihaan in the vicinity.

Vaidehi: "Ahaan bhai, she's going back to London in 3 days."

Vihaan: "Oh, don't worry Dahi. If our suspicion is correct, which I'm sure it is, then we'll uncover the truth before that. My entire team is working on it and has gathered a lot of information."

Vaidehi: "If that's the case, bhai, then I won't let her off the hook. She'll pay for it."

Vihaan placed his hand on hers and reassured her.

Vihaan: "Don't worry, everything will be alright."
