The clock struck 10 in the night, and the Singhania mansion had already settled into a tranquil state. Dinner had been enjoyed by all, and each member had retired to their respective rooms, except for Vaidehi. In the quietude of the mansion, she lingered, patiently awaiting the arrival of her husband.

Expressing her frustration, she muttered to herself.

Vaidehi: "He knows very well that I don't eat before him. Still, he won't come on time-grumpy, arrogant man, idiot, stupid."

Her soliloquy of complaints was abruptly interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. A sudden smile adorned her face, and she eagerly hastened to the door. Opening it, she was greeted by the sight of her handsome husband, his blazer draped casually over his left arm, sleeves folded to reveal the veins on his strong forearms.

As she approached him with anticipation, he cleared his throat, causing her to snap out of her fantasy world. Meeting his gaze, she found herself momentarily intimidated, prompting her to lower her eyes. Without further ado, she redirected her steps toward the kitchen.

Viyansh observed this peculiar reaction, a furrow forming on his brow. Puzzled by her demeanor, he decided to follow her to the dining area.

Viyansh wondered, "Why does she consistently make me feel like I'm some villain in her life, as if I'm going to hurt her?"

His subconscious retorted, "As if you've given her any reason to smile at you."

Viyansh dismissed the thought with a nonchalant "Whatever."

His words echoed loudly, capturing her attention. She glanced at him briefly, only to lower her gaze again, proceeding to serve dinner onto two plates. As customary, they shared their meal in silence. Once done, she collected the plates and headed to the kitchen to attend to the dishes, while he made his way to his room.

As he reached the threshold of his room, his entrance was unexpectedly halted by Vihaan.

Vihaan's voice echoed in the corridor, catching Viyansh's attention. Viyansh turned towards Vihaan.

Vihaan: "Bhai"

Viyansh replied, "Yeah?"

Vihaan: "Bhai, I want to talk to you about something really important."

Viyansh: "Yeah, tell me."

Vihaan: "Not here. Can you come to my room?"

Viyansh nodded, and both brothers proceeded towards Vihaan's room.

Vihaan gestured towards the couch, saying.

Vihaan: "Bhai, please baitho na (sit down)."

Viyansh and Vihaan took a seat.

Viyansh: "Yes, Vihu, kya baat hai (what's the matter)?"

Vihaan: "It feels like ages that you called me Vihu."

Viyansh simply lowered his head.

Vihaan continued.

Vihaan: "Why are you doing this, Bhai?"

Viyansh: "Doing what?"

Vihaan: "Why are you not treating Vaidehi as your wife? It's been two weeks since you spent time at home. Do you have any idea how much Viraj, Virat, Papa, and I miss you? Vaidehi may not say anything, but she does expect some affection from you, and she's trying her best. But you... Why are you doing this to her, Bhai?"

Viyansh retorted.

Viyansh: "See, you guys asked me to marry her, I did. Now, don't expect anything else from me or from this marriage."

Viyansh rose from his seat, intending to leave, but Vihaan halted him.

Vihaan: "Bhai, stop."

Viyansh: "Now what, Vihu?"

Vihaan: "I didn't want to tell you this because Dad asked me not to, but now I think it's necessary for you. I can't see my sister suffering like this."

Viyansh: "What do you mean?"

Vihaan: "Okay, then listen... "

Vihaan revealed the undisclosed information to Viyansh, leaving him with moist eyes.

Viyansh: "What are you saying, Vihaan? Is this true?"

Vihaan: "Yes, Bhai."

Viyansh: "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Vihaan: "Because we couldn't disclose this to Vaidehi as I mentioned before, Dad wanted you to love her for who she is and not for something else... You know what I mean."

Viyansh sank back into his seat, his face buried in his hands.

Viyansh: "Oh God, what have I done? How will I face her now?"

Vihaan reassured him, saying.

Vihaan: "It's okay, Bhai. You can start afresh. I know Vaidehi; she'll forgive you."

Viyansh, burdened with remorse, lamented.

Viyansh: "Vihaan, I've wasted the most beautiful time of my life. These two weeks, she must have gone through a lot, and here I was behaving like a jerk to her."

Vihaan placed a comforting hand on Viyansh's shoulder.

Vihaan: "Bhai, I have a request. Vaidehi was not like this a few years back. She used to be cheerful and full of life. Please bring my old sister back."

Viyansh inquired.

Viyansh: "Do you know the reason behind her current behavior?"

Vihaan responded.

Vihaan: "No, Bhai. I lost contact with her after college. I met her again when Dad asked me to accompany him to meet her for your alliance."

Viyansh nodded and wiped away his tears. He stood up and hugged Vihaan.

Viyansh said.

Viyansh: "Thank you for telling me all this. I promise I'll bring back your old sister and make her happy again."

Vihaan expressed his gratitude.

Vihaan: "Thanks, Bhai. Finally, I'll get my innocent sister back."

As Viyansh released him, he urged.

Viyansh: "For God's sake, stop calling her sister. You call me Bhai, and she's my wife."

Vihaan teased, "Oh, someone is developing feelings."

His comment earned him a playful punch in the stomach from his elder brother.

Viyansh chuckled.

Viyansh: "Okay, I'm leaving. Bye, good night."

Vihaan responded in a teasing voice.

Vihaan: "Good night to you too."

Viyansh retorted, "Shut up, Vihu."

With this, Viyansh exited Vihaan's room and entered his own, only to be greeted by a picturesque scene of his wife preparing the couch for her sleep. Leaning against the door, he silently observed her.

Unaware of his presence, she settled onto the couch, taking her phone in hand as she waited for her husband. Tonight, she had resolved to speak with him.

As her eyes met his, she abruptly stood up.

Vaidehi stammered.

Vaidehi: "Aa...aap."

Viyansh emerged from his thoughts, looking at his wife with a smile-an unusual sight that caught her off guard.

Viyansh questioned: "Why can't I come into my own room?"

Vaidehi, nervous, fidgeted with her dupatta.

She stuttered: "Nahi... I... I mean..."

Viyansh moved closer, and her heartbeat quickened.

In her thoughts, she wondered, "Did I make him angry? Will he shout at me?"

Her anxious thoughts came to a halt when he gently placed both hands on her shoulders, sending shivers down her spine, and guided her to sit on the couch. Even though she kept her gaze averted, he gently lifted her chin with his fingers to make her meet his eyes. The fear still lingered in her eyes, anticipating a scolding.

He took her fidgeting hands in his, attempting to soothe her trembling nerves.

Viyansh: "I'm sorry, Vaidehi."

She was taken aback, widening her eyes in surprise. Viyansh chuckled.

Viyansh teased.

Viyansh: "Ye Sundar Aakhein bahar aajayengi aapki (Your beautiful eyes will pop out)."

Vaidehi blinked several times, still processing the unexpected turn of events.

She asked: "Aa..aap sorry kyu bol rahe hai (Why are you saying sorry to me)?"

Viyansh replied: "For behaving like a jerk."

Her confusion deepened.

Viyansh continued.

Viyansh: "I'll come straight to the point, Vaidehi. I'm sorry for whatever happened in the last two weeks. The way I behaved with you is not justifiable. I know you don't deserve this, but..."

Vaidehi's eyes welled up with tears, and she lowered her gaze to conceal her emotions.

Viyansh pressed on.

Viyansh: "I just want to ask you, can we start afresh, Vaidehi?"

She gazed at him with teary eyes, and for the first time, Viyansh felt as if his heart had shattered into a million pieces witnessing her tears.

Viyansh quickly said.

Viyansh: "Hey hey, don't cry, please. It's okay if you don't want to..."

But before he could finish his sentence, she interrupted.

Vaidehi: "No no, I didn't mean that. I'm sorry if I made you think like that. I mean, I'm ready. Yes, we can start afresh. I was about to talk to you about this."

She spoke and once again lowered her eyes.

Viyansh apologized once more, and Vaidehi responded.

Viyansh: "I'm sorry again"

Vaidehi: "don't be"

A smile formed on Viyansh's face.

Viyansh then asked.

Viyansh: "May I know why you're always scared of me?"

Vaidehi glanced at him.

Vaidehi stammered, "Ahhh... vooo..."

Viyansh pressed, "Answer me, Biwi."

The endearment sent her heart racing, and she struggled to find the words amidst the increased intensity of her heartbeat.

Viyansh, perceptive to her predicament, smirked as he observed the effect he had on her.

Viyansh remarked: "I'm waiting for the answer, Biwi."

Vaidehi composed herself and cautiously replied.

Vaidehi: "Main bataungi toh aap gussa toh nahi karenge na?"

(I'll answer, but only if you won't get angry.)

Viyansh assured her.

Viyansh: "Why would I get angry with you? Chalo ab batao (Come on, now tell me)."

Vaidehi hesitated before explaining.

Vaidehi: "On the very first day of our marriage, I heard you shouting at someone on the phone. Also, Raj and Veer told me that you are a grumpy and arrogant man. So, I thought if I say something to you, you will shout at me, and I can't bear it when anybody shouts at me."

Viyansh couldn't help but smile at his wife's innocence.

Viyansh asked.

Viyansh: "First, tell me who Raj and Veer are?"

Vaidehi clarified.

Vaidehi: "Ahh, vo Viraj and Virat. I call them Raj and Veer,"

she said with a smile, still avoiding direct eye contact.

Viyansh reassured her.

Viyansh: "Biwi, get this into your little head that I will not shout at you ever. You can share anything with me, okay?"

She nodded in agreement.

Viyansh asserted.

Viyansh: "And stop believing those two spoiled brats."

Vaidehi just smiled in response.

Vaidehi gently suggested.

Vaidehi: "Umm, it's too late. You should change and sleep."

Viyansh, feeling exhausted, requested.

Viyansh: "I'm too tired. Can you get me my clothes?"

Vaidehi, surprised, questioned, "Me?"

Viyansh: "I think you're the only one who is my wife, so only you can help me, right?"

Once again, she nodded in agreement.

Viyansh commanded: "Now go."

Vaidehi hesitated.

Vaidehi: "Umm, my hands."

Viyansh, realizing he was still holding her hands from their conversation, immediately released them.

He apologized, scratching the back of his neck. She swiftly ran into their walk-in closet to retrieve his clothes, leaving a smiling Viyansh behind.

Viyansh reflected: "What the hell was I doing these two weeks? How could I ignore and hurt such an innocent soul? I deserve a tight slap from her for doing this. But I promise, Biwi, from now onwards, our life will be full of happiness."

His contemplation was interrupted when Vaidehi returned with his clothes. He took them and headed into the washroom to change.

After 10 minutes, Viyansh returned to find Vaidehi combing her hair.

Viyansh thought, "Waist-length hair, uff, from today, her hair is my favorite."

She braided her hair, and he approached her. As she moved towards the couch, he caught her wrist, stopping her.

Viyansh: "No need to sleep on the couch. You, please, sleep on the bed. I'll take the couch."

Saying this, he moved towards the couch and lay down. Vaidehi noticed that he was too tall for the couch and seemed uncomfortable.

Viyansh thought, "Please, Biwi, take an initiative so that I can be sure that you are comfortable in this marriage."

Vaidehi gathered the courage and said.

Vaidehi: "Suniyee."

Viyansh's heartbeat increased as he looked at her. As soon as their eyes met, she lowered her gaze. He calmed himself and asked.

Viyansh: "Ji, sunaiye."

Vaidehi began fidgeting with her dupatta.

She stammered, "Umm, actually, I... I... was... sayi... th..at."

Viyansh teased her.

Viyansh: "Do you have a stammering problem Biwi?"

She snapped.

Vaidehi: "What? No."

Viyansh reassured her.

Viyansh: "Then say it clearly, Biwi. I'm not going to eat you."

Vaidehi cautiously proposed.

Vaidehi: "Umm, this bed is big enough for both of us, and also you asked to start afresh, so if you don't mind... Ummm, we both can sleep on the bed."

She avoided looking at him; otherwise, she might have witnessed the unusual sight of Viyansh Singhania smiling from ear to ear.

Viyansh inquired.

Viyansh: "Will you be comfortable with me sleeping beside you?"

Vaidehi nodded in agreement.

Viyansh questioned further.

Viyansh: "What if I do something with you?"

Vaidehi responded calmly, without hesitation or fear.

Vaidehi: "I trust you."

Her words filled Viyansh's heart with immense joy and happiness. He swiftly ran towards the bed and laid down on his side, surprising Vaidehi with his quick actions.

Viyansh beckoned.

Viyansh: "Come, now sleep, Biwi."

He indicated towards the other side of the bed, noticing her cheeks turning pink. Vaidehi complied and laid down beside him, not facing him, and covered herself with the duvet.

Vaidehi hesitated.

Vaidehi: "Can I ask you something?"

Viyansh encouraged.

Viyansh: "Go ahead, Biwi."

Vaidehi: "Are you not happy with this marriage?"

Viyansh reassured.

Viyansh: "It's not like that."

Vaidehi inquired.

Vaidehi: "Then what was the reason for your behavior?"

Viyansh explained.

Viyansh: "I said, I was a jerk. There's no particular reason; I was just a coward running away from my responsibilities."

Vaidehi questioned, "Is it?"

Viyansh affirmed, "Yes, Biwi. And now, go to sleep."

Vaidehi wished: "Good night."

Viyansh reciprocated: "Good night."

A smile adorned Viyansh's face, and soon, sleep enveloped both of them. They drifted into slumber with newfound happiness and hope in their hearts.
