Chapter 170 Mr. Gallard, Long Time No See
Rickyâs voice became shaky. âYes, Iâll give it later. Itâs a small matter. Iâll get my secretary to call you
later.â
Darlene smiled and put her phone aside, âOkay, you are now the CEO of the Walpole Group. I believe
you wonât go back on your words.
âOtherwise, it would be a little awkward if you break your promise for just 615 million
dollars.â
Ricky was enraged and stopped pretending. He said coldly, âItâs only 615 million dollars. How can I not
have that little bit of money?
âGustave, itâs fine if you end up in dire straits, but the old clients that are waiting for the Walpole Groupâs
help will suffer.â
Ricky suffered a great loss for breaking the ornaments, so he wanted to get back at Gustave. âGustave,
you still donât know it, right? The Gallard Group has cooperated with me for a big deal. As the new
president, I naturally have to know whatâs good for
1. me.
âThatâs why Iâve instructed the directors of the company to prioritize completing all the orders with the
Gallard Group. The other orders could be delayed as long as they donât
exceed the time limit.â
Gustave shouted, âIâm not interested in what you want to do. If youâre done, get out.â
Ricky was unwilling to give up. âAbout the orders from Mr. Nixonâs Greadon Group, I ordered them to be
delivered on the last day of the contract.
âMr. Nixon was unhappy. He said when he cooperated with you, you would deliver at
least a month in advance.â
Ricky sneered, âGreadon Group is hopeless, but you still cater to his needs. I will not do that. What right
does he have to be so picky?â
Gustave sat by the bed peeling fruits for Darlene in silence.
Gustave thought if Ricky behaved, he might be the temporary president for a year or so
if he was lucky.
From the looks of it, Ricky might not last a month.
Realizing Gustave was silent, Ricky thought he was angry and left the ward in satisfaction.
Darnell stood at the door and smiled as he watched Ricky leave. Darnell asked, âMr.
Walpole, remember to transfer 615 million dollars as soon as possible. My boss is waiting to use it.
âAre you really not going to take these broken pieces? If you sell them on the secondâhand market, you
might get 10 million dollars or more.â
Ricky paused in his steps and hardened his heart. In the end, he did not go back to take
those things.
After he left the hospital, he took out his phone and found he had less than 170 million dollars on his
bank card.
Darlene had taken a video of what he had just said. At this critical juncture, Ricky had just taken the
position of the Walpole Groupâs CEO, and the media was watching his
movements.
Ricky could not have any negative public opinion spread. He could only give Gustave the money as soon
as possible in case Gustave and Darlene really released the video.
Ricky made a phone call and said, âDad, may I ask you for a sum of money?â
His father sounded displeased. âYou have so much money. Are you messing around
again?â
Ricky could only tell the truth. âNo, I just came to visit Gustave. I accidentally broke
some of his things.â
âWhy did you find Gustave at a time like this?â said a cold voice.
âHow many times have I told you? Stay calm. Are you afraid others wonât know you get carried away?
Alright, I wonât waste any more time with you. How much do you want?â
Ricky lowered his voice. â500⦠million dollars.â
1
â500 million dollars!â The voice on the other side suddenly rose. âWhat is worth 500 million dollars? What
did you do to Gustaveâs woman?â
Rickyâs father was furious.
Ricky was also angry. âItâs just a few broken ornaments. I think he took the opportunity to blackmail me.â
Rickyâs father snapped, âYou bastard! Donât you know Gustaveâs hobby? He likes to collect those ugly
and expensive antiques. Get back, and I will beat you to death!â
The call ended. Rickyâs father couldnât wait to teach Ricky a lesson.
Ricky kicked the pillar beside him. âGustave, just you wait. Sooner or later, I will get even with you!â
In the inpatient building, Darlene and Gustave went to the top floor together, planning, to go to Reinaâs
ward and take Nigel away first.
Reina had to go to different places for detailed examinations.
Gustave said when the time came, it would be easier to find a way to take Reina away.
They arrived outside the ward. Avery used to arrange a few people to guard the ward,
and most of the time, Cyrus would do it.
But now, the Gallard family had all their attention on Avery, and there was only one bodyguard guarding
the ward.
Darlene walked over, and the bodyguard immediately became vigilant. âMs. Garcia, are you going in?â
He looked like he wanted to stop Darlene.
Darlene said coldly, âAvery said I could not take my grandmother and younger brother away, but as long
as he did not say I was not allowed to visit them, I can occasionally come. I will go in and take a look
now. You donât have a problem with it, right?â
The bodyguard hesitated for a moment before stepping aside and allowing Darlene to
enter.
However, he stopped Gustave who followed her. âMr. Walpole, you canât go in.â
Gustave smiled as he walked towards him and sized him up. âJust you alone?â One person wanted to
stop Gustave?
The bodyguard immediately pressed the Bluetooth on his ear. âIf you insist on going in, I will immediately
ask Mr. Gallard to bring someone over.â
âDonât forget. Ms. Garcia is in no condition to take care of her grandmother and brother. Mr. Gallard
temporarily has the custody. Even if something happened to Mr. Gallard, who should have the custody of
Reina and Nigel should be judged by the court
first.â
Gustave smiled as he retracted his hand in a loose sleeve. âI didnât say that I would insist on going in, so
Iâll just wait outside.â
1
Gustaveâs intention was to wait outside and help Darlene keep an eye on things.
Darlene pushed open the door and entered, closing it behind her.
Inside, Nigel was washing his grandmother with water. He seemed to have lost a lot of weight. His face
was cold and cheerless.
Looking at Darlene who suddenly came in, Nigel was surprised. He stood up from the bed and said,
âDarlene, you are here!â
Darlene grabbed his arm and walked straight to the French window. âFollow me. Avery is unconscious
and has forgotten everything. I will take you away now and come back to pick up Grandmother.â
Nigel was unable to come back to his senses for a moment. He only knew something had happened to
Avery these past few days. He did not know the details.
But he believed in his sister, so he did not ask more and followed Darlene to the window.
Darlene pulled up the French window curtain with a âwhooshâ and took out the thick rope hidden in her
clothes. One end was tied to the room and the other end was thrown downstairs.
On the balcony outside the ward on the next floor, Gustave sent someone to pick Nigel
1. up.
Nigel was shocked. After a long time, he said, âBut there are antiâtheft windows. I canât jump out through
the windows.â
Darlene stretched out her hand. The few poles on the antiâtheft windows were easily pushed open. The
space was just enough for a person to crawl out.
Nigel was shocked. âWhatâs going on?â
Darlene quickly replied, âMr. Walpole asked someone to climb up from downstairs and cut it open. You
didnât see it through the curtain.â
She could jump in through the windows and take Nigel away, but it was too risky. She might bump into a
nurse or bodyguard who happened to come in, and they would find out about what was done to the
windows.
Therefore, Darlene could only come in from the front door to confirm it there was no one else inside, so
she could take Nigel away.
She took a chair over and helped Nigel up. Then she let him get out of the window.
Before Nigel could stand on the chair, there was a sudden noise outside the door, followed by Gustaveâs
deliberately raised voice, âMr. Gallard, long time no see. Has your body recovered?â
